They are aluminum, not steel. Steel mags are usually pretty expensive.

Local surplus stores here sell mixed USGI black/green/tans for $7 a pop. I search through and get a decent amount of nice tan follower mags with not too much effort. I don't think $5 is unreasonable for black follower mags- I just want to make sure the feedlips aren't bent to the point of unusability, which is a hazard with old USGI mags. A lot of people these days won't even buy black follower USGI mags, so I'm really looking at otherwise unsellable lots.

Basic M4a3 texas patrol carbine, LEO surplus Texas specifically. Check texas (ranger???) logo. Never did much with it, just though the rollmarks and provenance were cool as shit, Im a sucker for Ex LEO guns. Bore is good, locking lugs still have the black coating on them, next to no wear.
