.22 is a horrible choice and the gsg is a fun but jammy pos. The lever action is could actually down a mother fucker and will cycle realibily. Practice with it and get accurate and the speed will come with marksmanship.

You can cycle it faster by hand than the time it takes for the main spring to push it back into battery.

It applies to many manual actions, for instance compare https://youtu.be/cv352t6tf50?t=180 to any semi-auto or full auto action. I guarantee those two shots will be faster.

Same principle applies to a lever action, and there are people out there than can do it.

The more effective killing machine between a 6 round snub nose and a 20 round 308 is obviously the 308, but I'd still take the snub nose rather than walk around with a rifle in the ready stance.

.357 Mag is a really great round and lever guns are great and a lot of fun, but don't underestimate .22, it will kill.

Now .22 obviously isn't an ideal defensive round, but if you have a reliable semi with a decent sized magazine, in home defense distances you will probably be able to dump 5 rounds into a guy before he knows whats happening and plenty of people die form just one .22

No one is going to laugh at you if you're pointing a .22 at them.

OP's choice is basically between a significantly less effective round and the risk of short stroking the lever under stress. The best choice probably depends on how much he wants to practice.
