You know, that would improve my city substantially.
You never let them out, right?
>6 Things That Could’ve Been Bought With The $1.5 Trillion The Government Spent Developing The F-35 Fighter Jet
>$1.5 Trillion...Spent Developing The F-35
This is my trigger
Tell me 1 reason why /k/ shouldn't fund a kickstarter to buy an F-35 for the board.
>>34082415
Topkek
>>34082479
We could buy an F22 for every /k/ommando for the price of one F35
>>34082463
Seattlefriend?
ITT: people who don't understand how procurement works
Take anything the government wants to buy. Quadruple the cost and have it take twice as long. Now you're starting to understand
>>34082359
>10000 F-22 Raptors
On the other hand you'd have no money left to actually fly them, since that would cost a total of around 6 trillion in maintenance alone.
>>34082670
>1,363 B-2 Spirits
>25 trillion in maintenance alone
half of congress would fucking drop dead whenever it started raining
WHY DIDT WE JUS BUY 1000000 SUPER TUNACOS??
>>34082501
The world would be fucked.

OP manages to be even more incompetent than congress.
>>34082501
Good thing a single F-35 can take on a gorillion F-22s.
>>34082703
People here intentionally take the bait because who else is going to listen to us talk about combat aircraft ?
Wow we could have bought 2,665,861 P-51D's for the same price
>>34082743
Stop reading sales literature to us, shill.
>>34082751
Yup, this. Every F-35 thread in years has been bait, but I'm bored.
>F-35s will soon be getting all the work and Raptors will still have fuck all to do
I wish I could be a Raptor driver. All the glory and none of the work
>>34082359
There are genuine issues with the F-35 program but this 1.5 trillion dollahs bullshit triggers me every fucking time.

I don't know how many posters realize it's the onion, but I don't really see any bait being taken either.

lol nice meme site with thats a new age onion. you are one fuck face
Honestly, because of the F-35B and the need to replace the Harrier, there is no alternative for that at least. Closest thing that i can think of is some sort of franken-Apache with a pusher prop, a KA-52'esque nose with a decent AESA and strengthened and lengthened pylons for more hardpoints and to carry 500lb bombs and Aim-120's.
>>34083961
Barely enough to sate your moms ferocious appetite.
>>34083961
1.5 trillion DOUBLE cheeseburgers in 2008 dollars.
How much more would it have cost to airlift them to Africa?
>>34082359
>10,000 Raptors
Why would we need that many Air Superiority Fighters?
>>34084283
so literally nothing on earth would dare to send fighters to US airspace ever
>>34084323
No enemy has sent a fighter into us airspace ever.
>>34084869
>Pearl Harbor
>Philippines
The problem is the whole concept of "air power"
The US has been losing wars for decades because of this focus towards air power
They think they can just bomb an enemy then win the war.
>>34085232
If you're bombing and not winning then you're simply not bombing enough, hitting the right targets, or using the right bombs.
>>34085232
We are not winning because of politics. If the US just decided to put both legs into any war then we can win any war. If Rome, Great Britain, Mongols, and Greece where able to do it thousand of years ago then we can too.
>>34085232
>losing wars for decades
>successfully invaded Iraq
>successfully invaded Afghanistan
>won the Gulf war
>won the Kosovo war
>won the Bosnian war
...
>>34089204
>>won the Bosnian war
Wouldn't really call that a win...
>>34085232
US military failures haven't been a function of airpower itself though, but overall strategy.
>>34082501
The F35 is cheaper than the F22
>>34089214
>Serbs chimping out and killing a bunch of people
