It depends on the gas station. I live right by the border of Jew York and some of the stations, as long as you ask, will let you pump as long as you pay up front. Otherwise, some stations will never let you do it.

Here we have mandatory, $25 BG checks for each and every purchase, 10 day waiting period, and for handguns you have to provide 2 separate 'proof of residences' and can only buy 1 a month.

Former south jersey fag born and raised. I have moved on to a more gun friendly state. Although I love sj, the gun laws keep me from moving back.

You need a background check for anything that isnt a private sale. Although you still need to fill out a Certificate of Eligibility for private sales.

We dont need to provide proofs of residence besides a drivers license but you need to apply for a purchasers pistol permit that only lasts 90 days. Im not sure if you can buy more than 1 handgun but we have the same "one handgun a month" crap.

We have to do a NICS check when we buy through an FFL. the LGS charges whatever, ive seen 15 up to 50 for a NICS check

No waiting period

Every purchase requires a FID. This allows unlimited shotgun and long gun purchases for life.

Every handgun purchase requires a permit to purchase, which lasts 90 days and you can apply to your local PD for a 90 day extension. 1 handgun purchase per 30 days

Private sales are really stupid: There is a form that the state police would like you to fill out, one for the purchaser and one for the seller. They STRONGLY encourage you to send a copy to NJSP but its not required. So there isnt technically a long gun registry.

However you still officially need a P2P a pistol, and that permit has the gun info on it, so there is a defacto handgun registry.

Though if a gun is willed to you, or you move here from another state, you dont have to register you guns

Also, hollowpoints arent illegal to own. You just cant use them if you carry. Which you cant get a permit for anyway so pretty much no one uses them

Also, we dont have as strict a feature ban on ARs. We cant have 2 evil features and a pistol grip is 1. So most have fixed stocks.

Just put my pistol permits in yesterday. Got shit talked before I could even ask the a clerk if I need all forms. Plus side is got my fid in 5 weeks, so should be good.

No, the hard part is getting the permits, and thats largely dependent on your town. Once you have your FID and P2P its supper quick and you dont deal with the NJSP

My town only takes 3 weeks to process new apps. It usually take 2 since ive been through before.

Though ive heard some towns take months and ask for all kinds of extra forms

It's a misdemeanor to pump your own gas in New Jersey. Personally I don't understand why this is an issue for people, you just tell the attendees how much and what kind of gas you want and then do nothing. It's genuine the only perk of this state.
