Tanto or traditional bellied blade?
What do you want to do with it?
>>34074216
All practicality aside I have always enjoyed Tanto blades much more
>>34074216
I always thought the Turkish clip point was pretty nice desu
>>34074216
Always prefered the clip point.
>>34074216
tanto is a helluva lot easier to sharpen in my opinion. i use a gut hook for hunting and fishing though.
Belly. Real tanto don't have that angular tip either.
>>34074317
>tfw no pukko
>>34074231
Open amazon boxes and cut blister packages
>>34074231
Work around the house and in the field, in the woods, farm stuff
>>34074234
>>34074298
I want neo/k/ to leave.
>>34074216
>Skinner
Upswept/Backswept or Persian are more accurate blade shape names.
I prefer Upswept blades. I think they're beautiful and functional slicers.
>>34074507
shut up, frog bitch
>>34074440
>and cut blister packages
Utility knife. Inexpensive and works amazingly.
get something like my BM 810 contego
>>34074451
Tanto is completely impractical for any use that isn't stabbing through body armor or LARPing.
>>34074317
I prefer that type of blade also.
Tried both, I prefer a traditional belly for cutting. Also the belly is plenty easy to sharpen but I could never get back the factory point on the tanto
>>34074580
Thanks mate
>>34074216
Get whichever you prefer, it really doesn't matter. /k/ will tell you a tanto is useless for utilitarian purposes and then turn around and dickride the Wharncliffe because a knife with no belly is actually a fine utility knife, take everything here with a grain of salt.
>>34074216
spear point for me only thing i like.
drop point, everything else is tryhard shit.
>>34074527
>>34074734
>implying drop point isn't for tryhard fudds who think they'll need to stab anything ever
if the spine ain't straight the knife ain't great
>>34074317
right, the angular tanto is "American Tanto" but everyone just calls it tanto anyway
>>34074216
Some fuck almost stabbed me in the back with one of those gut hook blades.
Some random mexican saved me. But the guy that was trying to stab me was mexican too.
They guy was on drugs or something. Thank god i didnt get stabbed.
>>34074317
>Real tanto don't have that angular tip either.
Sure they do, it's just old and out of style.
>>34074580
False. Tanto tip blades are also good for cutting (especially zip ties and rope), due to the angled blade point. It's not as good for sawing through stuff as a serrated blade would be, but a tanto tip is easier for cutting vines, rope, etc as opposed to a traditional non-serrated knife.
I carry a tanto pocket knife at the job (construction) as a work knife and it serves that purpose well. I keep my traditional tip fixed blade in my boot for defense against rodents and stuff that I can't just shoot in the middle of the day. Not really sure about the whole "stabbing through body armor" thing, but if I ever had to kill a raccoon who was wearing armor, I'd probably just shoot at it or, if able to, call animal control and maybe SWAT.
Welp, OP here, i ordered the Tanto blade because it looks cool, i already have heavy duty knifes for serious tasks
>>34074216
Tanto is a meme blade shape, Clip point or Drop point is all you need
>>34075792
>all you need
since when is any hobby about needs?
>>34074560
>says tanto is useless because no belly
>recommends utility knife
>fragile razor blade with no belly
>/k/ tries logic
If you can't cut things with a knife simply because it has a straight edge blade instead of a curved blade, you need to put down the knife and get some fucking crayons or play-doh.
>>34075105
He wasn't saving you puusy estupid gringo. He was saving hees buddy from going to jael
>>34075995
I could care less about your mall ninja collection, I actually use the knives i buy
>>34076060
see the end of my post for further instuction
>If you can't cut things with a knife simply because it has a straight edge blade instead of a curved blade, you need to put down the knife and get some fucking crayons or play-doh.
>>34076069
Noone is saying they can't physically cut with a "tanto", just the blade geometry is shit for cutting/ slicing y'know what a knife is intended for? I could cut blister packs with a butter knife doesnt mean its the best tool for the job.
>>34074216
Why u no drop point? drop and clip are best for general purpose imho
>>34076134
Not him but i found my tanto to slice pretty good due to that angled pointy part after the belly.
Nonetheless I'm not a fan of the tanto shape. So fucking mall ninja I can't get over it.
I just use my spyderco paramilitary 2. Thing is just a work knife without the mall ninja aspect
>>34076181
I have a bunch of Mora's, All beat to shit but still running strong, Bushcraft HD is best Mora
>>34076211
What do y'all think about the sheepsfoot blade?
>>34076240
Looks good for cutting, Wouldnt get one myself though I like the versatility of the drop point
>>34076240
Faggy blades for faggy Europeans who want to ban knives. If you can't slab with it it's not a knife.
>>34076424
*stab. Fuck me.
>>34076424
I'm pretty damn sure I can stab with this.
I like it because if i ever had to use the tip I wouldn't have to worry too much about breaking it.
>>34076469
>Forgot pic
>>34076478
Are you sure that's not like a semi-sheepsfoot or something? I always thought a sheepsfoot was like pic related.
>>34074216
not sure what this is but my grandpa was an Blacksmith who made this in the 70's, It's still sharp
>>34076489
That's benchmades take on a sheepsfoot which is a little more versatile than a real sheepsfoot.
In my mind a sheepsfoot is the flat blade on a traditional folding knife, if it's a large main blade then I'd call it a wharncliff. And yeah, they're awesome blades for utility purposes, great for piercing and cutting things like if you needed to cut a plastic bottle or something. Not so great for processing game or whatever but I'm sure you won't be doing that with an edc.
>>34077010
Awesome, looks like he copied the schrade sharp finger
>>34076478
thats not a sheepsfoot, >>34076489 is
sheepsfoot doesn't have belly that /k/tards love so much
I prefer Karambits. Just like the look/feel/versatility.
can't beat a folding utility knife with a clip
>>34077578
>CLIP
>>34075155
I think he's saying a true tanto has to have a straight spine
>>34077596
Did he trigger your autism?
>>34077611
its a meme you dip
>>34075995
>says tanto is useless because no belly
I said no such thing, I recommended using razor blades to open blister packaging, something I have found them to work far better at than knives.
>>34074216
For my uses as a utility camp knife and butchery a bushcraft knife from canteenshop.com is my favorite, so I suppose a full bellied blade.
Banchmade makes a copy of their design thats, just as good.
>>34075995
Or you could use EMT scissors, faggot!
But you know, just a tip between you and me, the clip point strait edge knife on my lockback leather man is what I use to open clam shell plastc wraps..not easy but once the tip spears through, I push all the way and then pull tge item I'm cutting and keep the knife hand strait and unmobile.
>>34077597
That's literally not what he said at all.
What he said was "Real tanto don't have that angular tip"
A tip is not a spine.
>>34076134
>I could cut blister packs with a butter knife
I'd like to see that
>>34074216
Tanto is useless. It just makes it a bitch to sharpen.
>>34078699
>tanto difficult to sharpen
kill yourself my man
no knife is easier to sharpen than a straight edge blade
>>34074216
puukko
Clip point with a belly. Good for work, good for stabing if need be.
>>34074231
Circumcisions.
>>34079336
