I'm gonna leave the gas block alone for now. It'd be nice to be able to drop a bayonet on it, but it's not a huge priority and it's currently more effort than it's worth.

I actually like the original finish too. It's bubbly and worn and gritty like I've mentioned before, sure, but it gives the gun a lot of character. About the only reason I'd refinish it is if the interior of the receiver started to rust. A lot of the metal in there has worn away the paint and browned from years of abuse since this rifle was confiscated by cops before being resold, but so far it hasn't actually rusted.

Have you considered the welding option? strip the finish, get a tig welder, weld some beads of weld on where the lug, file/dremel (or mill) to shape/fit, then refinish. Mush easier than getting a new gas block and all the press work for that.

My personal experience with RS Regulate mounts includes witnessing a fellow student at a rifle class with (lawyers: what he claimed to be a RS Regulate mount)

It was broken where the lever moved freely and would not lock, from two days worth of shooting drills

Yeah I couldn't see any way to take it apart. I'll try oil and some wrapped pliers. If it's stuck forever it's not a huge issue. I can still adjust the sights, it just wobbles a bit on one side

Pull it out with some plier. Give a few drops of oil down the cylinder and finger fuck it till its nice n smood. Probably just metal shavings or grit holding it in there.

I have seen bakes with only the metal lips remaining and them cycle and run just fine. Bakelite is incredible hard to kill/make not function.

Attero arms mount with a Fastfire 3. It's a 1/3 cowitness, but apparently the FF2 is absolute. There is a small iron sight in front of the FF but it's impossible to see

Yeah, but desu I like this better than most of the AKM furniture that I see.

You can see the grain very easily in this, which I like. And the rifle isn't a true AKM clone anyway since it has the 74-style gas block and a scope rail.

Besides this wood looks way better than the polymer and way better than most shitty American-made wood stocks they throw on AKs nowadays.
