I'm a machinist and i'm looking to make my own Bolt Action, Many say that the Mauser K98 has the best design. Does anyone know where i can source plans or schematics to replicate one?
>>
>Takes decades to develop
>Millions of dollars

Some faggot things he can just whip one up because "machinist"
>>
>>34070169
do you want to know how I know you're a lying high schooler that wants to be spoonfed "schematics" to keep in your edge folder next to your pastebin copy of the anarchists cookbook
>>
Just fucking buy a surplus Mauser. They're still available.
>>
>>34070193
A rifle from 1918?
Millons of dollars?
btw, you can replicate a mechanism without devol it, that's what the chinese did for the last 20 years
>>34070205
I don't a copy, i have it on pdf
>>34070211
I wanted a 1918, but i only found very expensive old military surplus. Most with 7,62x54, very rare in my country.
Some modify them to take 7,62x51
>>
>>34070193
Not OP but another machinist, with modern tooling and CNC tech it is entirely possible to make a knockoff mauser in your garage. Minus the barrel, pretty sure you need special machines to make a barrel. I'm sure it will be a shitty rifle but with some fine tuning it can work.

Thanks, i found that too
>>34070342

The Mauser is pure sex but the objectively best bolt action is the Lee Enfield Four, they cut thirty degrees out of the turn.

Shits right in your face. Unsupported case web pls go.
>>

dude if you're trying to build one for "cheaper," you're dreaming. The tooling (mill and lathe) alone will cost you thousands. Just stop being a moron and save up for the rifle you want.

Building guns as a hobby is cool, but realize you're investing in the hobby (machining), not in making rifle for cheaper than you can buy a surplus gun
>>
>>34070799
i'm already a machinist, i have lathe and mill.
And if i didn't have them, you could use lathes and mills from other people.
You don't need to buy all the tools everytime you want to make something.
>>
>>34070169
What do you do for rifling the barrel ?

I'm just curious
>>
>>34070850
Rifling is easy mode. Gun drilling is by far the hardest operation.

And old guns tend to be poor designs to copy with the intent of CNC machining. Back in the day they tended to make things using a bunch of simple operations with high tooling setups.
I think Ian has a video on just that subject.

1898.
>>
>>34070193
Nigger do you even have a clue about what you are talking about? No you don't.
>>
>>34071076
how do you do the rifling?
>>
>>34071444
you can set up a machine like this
https://youtu.be/ihPFjuxBjPo
though it requires a lot of patience, but that won't be a problem if you already decided to make a gun from scratch
>>
>>34070337
are you that guy who made that NBR pic with the smug anime girls? fucking post it if so
>>
>>34070569
>>
>>34071452
rather buy one instead of trying to make this in rifle length
>>
I know they're not mechanically as accurate as a modern free-float but the k98 and M24/48 look so good, especially scoped.

Remington 700 receiver would be easier to make. Far easier.

Hell someone probably makes 80%s for them, and OP can lap or grind the locking lug surfaces and feel like a gunsmith.
>>
>>34070193
this faggot has never heard of carbine williams and considers them self an expert on weapon design.
OP specified he was looking for "plans or schematics" to work off of so why would you think it would take "decades to develop"?
a machinist with nothing more than an lathe and an idea might just be the next level in rifle development.

>>
>>34075428
yeah, brownells has most anything under the sun when it comes to weapons and weapon accessories, but what if you just made your own.
i for one, probably couldn't, but i know someone who can.
most of the autist that come here have no conception on how to do anything for themselves.
