I really want a hand cannon, /k/. There's something about an obscene amount of power in hand held form that just makes me hard. Be it a Deagle brand Deagle or a 44 mag wheelgun. Not for any real purpose, just to say I own a handgun that hits with 1000+ foot pounds in a single shot. I was thinking of slapping a 460. rowland conversion on my 1911 and handloading retard hot ammo. What do you all think?

Also handcannon thread.
>>
I wouldn't mind owning a deagle just for the mechanical novelty.
>>
Deagles are fun. .460 Rowland is painful to shoot.
>>
I used to have a pair of Ruger Vaqueros in 44 mag, here in Ausfagland.

For shits and giggles, I'd load my rounds up with 11grains of AP70 (slower burning powder for my .44 Marlin levergun).

Large booms commenced, followed by erections and complaining Range Fudds.

Truth was, I was a poorfag who could only buy a single bottle of powder, so AP70 it was. 5.5 grains in my .38 Super 1911 was standard fair.

Each pistol had about 50cm of muzzle flash at night.

OP, you're in for some fun. Proceed with haste.

How is getting a pistol is ausfailia?
>>
>>34076121
Samefag you replied to here.

Different by state, so I can only talk of Queensland.

Do safety course (3hrs). Join pistol club, and do pistol activities. Apply for licence, but can't posess yet. Borrower person's pistols. Get your attendance book signed for minimum required sessions (6?). After 6 months can posess up to .22LR. Don't waste dough. Wait until a year, then get what you want. Buy safe, apply for permit to Aquire, get gun. Each year, show club you attended 6 sessions if single class of calibres, or 4 for each if multiples (roughly air pistol - .22LR... Centrefire up to .38... Centrefire above 38 - .45).

It's been a while, still currently licenced but haven't had to do anything, as I don't possess any for years.

Without sounding cuckish, I think these rules are ok if the intention was to keep casual, or impulsive fuckwits out of the business. That aside, Aus states have some epically fucking gay rules created for fuck knows what reason, by retarded beyond redemption political fuckwits.
>>
>>34076307
From the outside looking in, I find it a little weird that you require less training for operating the 1000lbs chunks of plastic and metal you drive at 60mph everyday.

If we're being statist little bureaucrats, surely the initial requirement would have been enough to dissuade impulsive people?

Why the yearly recertification? What if you are quite isolated in the country?

Fair questions anon.

1. Driving and licencing requires no less muckabout. Something about logbooks and 50+ hours of supervised driving, limits on passengers/night driving/V8s or turbos etc. Honestly, I don't know details, as I got my car/bike licence in 1996 - a simpler era. If we had this conversation back then, I'd have no choice but to agree.

2. It was agreed within our shooting club that the rules were made to weed out those without dedication. Entry costs were not extreme - about $600 got you the course, simple safe, licence for 5 years, and club membership for 1. After that, only membership and licence were ongoing. Of course, its a control thing by the government, but we were happy that guns were limited to us, and real organised crime (99.9% of the time). Maybe we're cucked, I dunno.

3. Being isolated was actually an advantage, as the state police handle the interface between weapons branch and the customer. Small town cops are usually champs who know everyone, and just want shit to work without fuss. Getting a driver's licence via small town cop is often easy - they know you've been driving Dad's truck since you were 10, and give you a licence after you drive them around the block without incident.

Starting your own club, on your own land, with input from some locals confirs quite a few freedoms, after a fair investment. I've heard of a few such home made clubs north of Townsville, where I'm from.
>>
OP I feel ya. I shot a couple "big pistols/revolvers" and nothing really did it.

Honestly I settled for SBS PGO. 3" shells firing 2 ounces of lead from a 12 gauge 4 pound "pistol" takes care of my recoil needs. I fire off a couple shots of that after a few boxes of slugs to warm up, it's a hoot.
>>
>>34076307
Yeah that sounds about right for most states ie:

1: Must join club
2: Must attend certain number of meetings
3: Buy safe and wait an ungodly amount of time while everyone from the cops, gun club and gun store jews you up the ass simply because they can
4: Get gun
>>
>>34076876
Sorry to hear about the jewing up. I was lucky. Even though my club was 90% fudd (and I was 22), they all took care of me. I got more first PTA for my 1911 after 16 days - it's supposed to be 28 minimum?

It was a dream process here in QLD, circa 2006.

Shit, even this year I got 7 long guns free from a pair of deceased estates, no worries. 1 estate even had no will. The cops called me to explain what they needed to see, so I could get the shit - zero intention to withhold, or fuck me about. All the guns were shit, bar a nice Lee Enfield 303 with bayonet!

That's only for youth drivers under 18 though, right?

> We were happy that guns were limited to us

I checked your stats. Outside of rape, which is kind of a weird outlier, you guys do so much better than us, even for non-violent crime. Guns or no, the numbers make it look like average Aussie is far more isolated from nearly all forms of crime than a US citizen. I can only imagine it's even more so for the country folk.

> Getting a driver's license via small town cop is often easy.

That part sounds nice, even if it's a bit of nepotism.

Most reviews I've read about .460 Rowland say that it does have sharper recoil than .45 (obviously), but that it isn't painful at all. How would you compare it to a .44 Magnum revolver?

Bump, I can never find any recent info on .460 Rowland and I want to know more about it before I try to order a conversion kit.

Me again,
Ive kept my licence for the last 9 years since selling my last handgun. I've paid range fees and SSAA membership for this time and haven't fired a shot. I still have more than 10 longarms.

I've been too poor since Marriage/kids to feed the habit. I renew everything "just in case". One day I'll get tge cash and time to get into it again. Under no circumstances do I wish to apply from zero again. This way, If I want a handgun, I'm only 28 days away to purchase, or 28 minutes away to drive to a mates house and (legally) borrow his.

Pray for me brother, to the Gods of Fiscal and Temporal liberation!

I owned a 6.5" .500 S&W, a 4" GP100 Match Champion and now own a 329PD (alum frame .44mag). I think the 329pd is the best of it all; I got the x-frame rubber grips on it, have some amazingly soft shooting hand loads (6gr of trail boss), and can can turn it into a holy-fucking-shit handcannon by putting some of the hotter rounds in it. Kicks way harder than the 500S&W and is actually somewhat practical to lug around. The 500S&W 6.5" is >4lbs loaded, the 329pd is less than half that (same as a G17).

I think you really want to blow up your 1911. The rowland conversions are pushing the 1911 platform pretty close to its limits. Don't be careless, these upgrades need to be made carefully; it shouldn't be "slapped" on and you shouldn't tempt fate by firing "retard hot" ammo with it.

>>34098297
Desert Eagles are notorious for being unreliable and the kinds of people who buy them tend to be the sorts who do not shoot them enough to actually become highly proficient with one. You need to be highly proficient with a handgun if you plan on using it to stop a brown bear that's charging you. You are much better off with a different gun if you want a woods gun.

It's your money though.
