its the OD, man...
suspenders feel great with lightweight kit

i still need a buttpack
its like the bread & butter piece for me
>>
>>34067936
I have a smaller buttpack, like a 1 day combat pack, on mine. Also the front suspenders should be clipped onto the loops on your magazine pouches
>>
>>34064417
I recently found an Alice pistol belt so figured its a good start for a battle belt.
What are some must have pouches to put on it?

What's the point of suspender/belt rigs like in your pic?

I can see no advantages over a daypack or other small backpack. It can carry less and gets in the way more.
>>
>>34067983
til i get a buttpack, i have the mag pouches set closer to my hips
basically 9 & 3 o'clock
vs. 11 & 1 o'clock

keeps the comfort & balance closer to normal to clip straps to the belt itself
>>
>>34068460
This is for fighting loads, not hikjng/camping
>>
>>34068460
they are mostly for fighting
...commonly rigged with ammo, water, medical & other immediate use items

for example, a soldier might carry an alice suspender rig in addition to a backpack

>>

this man like his belts
>>
>>34068522
>>34068533
So the advantage is quicker access to the items, at the expense of capacity?
>>
>>34068883
Pretty much, also more maneuverability and generally more comfortable

>>34068883
Quicker access is subjective. LBE's like this help distribute the weight to the shoulders and hips. There is really no loss in ammo capacity in the pic attached I could carry the same amount of mags in either one. Or less depending on how i want to store things.

What are the most comfortable suspenders for light combat only loads? What I mean by this is only like the minimum stuff on the belt like ammo, holsters, knife/bayonet and buttpack stuff. My thoughts behind this is I'd just put the E-tool and canteens on my pack instead of on my belt.
>>
>>34068975
M1956 and right. TacTailor X-harness unless your keeping it time period.

Not really preppy but hold a lot of mags
>>
>>34068990
To me the X looks the most comfy but the H and Y are the easiest to find. Unfortunately I couldn't just try them all on because I've never seen any X suspenders irl. The web gear my local milsurp store has is either broken or reproductions. So I'm assuming to get what I want I'll have to order online.
>>
>>34069043
h/y are easier to set up(to me) for comfort
Yeah man just get what you want or think youll like , that is all ways the best bet.
>>
>>34068460
Better suspension/weight distribution. The exact reason every modern outdoor bag that's actually worth a fuck has hip straps. And the buttback itself is adored by just about anyone that's ever used it

>>
>>34069018
the lbv is strange. were they issued 8 mags or 9?

before it was 7

and now its just 6.

Also teh old alice pouches had granade space for 4 but now you only get issued 2 grenade pouches.

The Swiss army uses a similar system. Pretty comfy from what I remember. There's one mag pouch, one grenade pouch, one gas mask pouch, one canteen pouch and the bayonet. In addition to the webbing we usually carried our combat pack - a small rucksack for the NBC gear and other stuff.
>>
I pretty much just use my alice gear when I go bird hunting now.

>Pistol Belt
>Ammo Pouch
>Canteen
>Butt Pack

The standard ammo pouch fits twenty-five 2 3/4" shotgun shells perfectly. A quart of water is enough for hiking in/out of a hunt area. Birds go in the buttpack. The whole thing is light enough to go without suspenders, which of course can be added if you need extra water or ammo.

NPS Police looked at me like a psychopath when I came out of the bush.
>>
>>34068975
Look at 6 and 8 point harnesses also the more padding/wider straps the better.
>>
>>34064417
>>34066270
For those with alice suspenders and similar. Do you use a buttpack? What do you put in it? How easy/hard is it to get to stuff inside?
>>

>>34067677
Ebay, gunshows. Do some research. Make sure you actually getting USGI not some asian copy. Check the contract codes.
>>
>>34068975
A few mods you may want to try:

Cannibalize they Y section of the suspenders and swap the single point will more Y straps.

Replace the metal clips with knotted 550 cord.

Remove the "pad" on the suspenders with sewing seam ripper, leaving bare webbing. This was a very popular mod in Ranger Bn in the early 90's.

I prefer m1956 because canvas >>> nylon, still need older suspenders, ammo pouches, and a jungle fak

The LBV came out at a weird time. Just as MOLLE was coming in. Very few units were actually issued the lbv. Guys that got them still had their old alice gear. So, what usually happened, is you might replace the alice suspenders with the lbv. However, the lbv suspenders are way to big, get in the way, don't work well with body armor and you can't put a ruck on over them.

The lbv held 6 mags and two grenades. The top pockets had 2 mags and lower pouch held 1 mag.

The 4 grenades on the alice was left over from VN when grenades were really important in the jungle. I would argue for urban ops you would want the 6 grenades you can hold with the lbv/alice combo. I would only replace those puffy shoulder pads with simpler webbing.

Every soldier in every unit gets a basic load of ammo and the BOI for grenades is now usually 2ea M67 frag, and 1ea M84 stun grenade. MOLLE kits come with these pouches standard.

didnt know that about the lbv. assumed it was 2 2 2 2 not 1 2 2 1.

How the fuck do I attach the duty belt to my belt!?
The loops are facing the wrong way and if I flip it, the buckle is facing inward, so that's not an option.
>>
>>34075820
You don't attach the ALICE belt to another belt. What the actual fuck are you doing?

I'm not sure if you'd want to do this with an extra-wide web belt but police used to use a "belt keeper" that would wrap around their duty belt and their trouser belt. I don't know what they do now to keep their duty belts from sagging.
