I want to hear some actual experience here.
I know you can run faster with an AR equipped than an AK equipped, and I know the AK has significantly more stopping power, but what do you all think?
Red dots improve the accuracy and grips reduce the recoil, but are they really worth it?
I don't really care about showing up on radar so silencers are pointless for me, but would a long barrel attachment be a good investment?
Also, do you guys really think FMJ is worth it? I have heard mixed results for this in assault rifle class weapons. (But good results for LMGs)
(Actual battle experience only please, this could be life or death)

I have both.
AR's are easier to move with in the open and AK's are easier to move with through heavy brush and undergrowth
It is worth noting that AR's will jam if they get wet while AK's will actually become more accurate when dirty (tightens up tolerances)

stopping power is a meme , if you want to kill a target just aim to the vitals part of the body .also run faster with ak or ar depends on the person so if arent fit enough to carry an ak while running just get an ar .

It all depends on the taste.
The vast majority of commercial made AKs are poorly made junk compared to even budget ARs. They work and function as supposed but the materials and finish is often subpar.
When it comes to 7.62x39 I prefer my SKS over my AK.

In a SHTF situation you own both and shoot whatever you have ammo for/whichever one works.

If you're equipping an army other factors come into play.
How well trained are your soldiers? How much money does your military have to work with? What other weapons/calibers does your military have? Ext.
In the SHTF (shit hits the fan) situation where you have to hike around or whatever you should still own both, you don't necessarily have to carry either one around with you all the time. Some ARs are heavier than AKs and vice versa so you could benefit from whichever is lighter but still having both is the only real answer.

Not mine, also, if anyone is interested in what configuration of an AR-15 is shown in both pictures it is the USAF M16 late version. It is, imo, the ultimate AR-15 configuration before optics became widespread.
