I don't know, but I've trained off and on with laying flat and shooting sideways over a low object. If you use the base of your thumb for support (think of shooting pool) you can still use a red dot while only exposing your firing arm and an inch or so of your head.

It's hard, but I'm getting better at it. I try to train in all these weird as fuck angles and conditions in between my normal stuff.

Yes, it's surprisingly comfortable and it's good for shooting prone when on a downward slope.

It's really easy to transition from a patrol carry to the fulton, just sit down, cross legs and lay down, and when you're on your arm/shoulder reach behind your head and take aim.

Transitioning to standing or to one knee is really easy too, and you can move the rifle to your shoulder (like you were transitioning to a back position) and aim with one hand while you move. It's really satisfying to figure this out and then run through it, and then put on some gear and suddenly learn all the ways your gear might get in the way.

This is why I can't abide people who want to take my firearms away, they just don't understand any of it.

In the US and abroad, holding your gun sideways is seen as cool because of rap videos where they do it. Nobody in these african wars are particularly well-trained (besides Rwandans, the Israel of Africa, anyway) so it really doesn't matter much.
