I specified this. Although there are exceptions to it, a 5'8 manlet holds the record for heaviest weight ever lifted. Ripped lanklets will always weigh considerably more than ripped manlets which leads to muscle fatigue more quickly. SF are never jacked 6'4 vikings because of that reason, most of them are ottermode manlets to barely above avg height.

A few points:

HM Forces are expected to assist or instruct civilian organisations where required. That can happen at any time, for anything deemed necessary by the government. Those police teams are not expected to "play second fiddle", but they're for the most part not equipped or trained or recruited to deal with the sort of things an SAS squadron is. They are, however, the focal point for the public. They will carry out the raids, they investigate from a criminal point of view and they know the legislation. The representatives from UKSF and the rest of HM Forces are not there for that, they're there to assist in a few select areas.

As a guy with a long body and short legs (5'11 king of manlets) I can tell you youre completely wrong. When tabbing, lanky bastards have a much better time, us shortarses have to take more steps and walk faster to keep pace, which tires you out more and knackers your calves.
This exact reason is why you put shortarses at the front and lankys at the back, because if it was the other way round the cranes would take off and the manlets would be running to catch up every few minutes, which fucking sucks.

Tests have actually been carried out. Shorter guys, controlling for other variables, usually tend to have a distinct advantage. Lanklets do better on loaded runs of short-moderate distances, IIRC, but manlets were superior at genuine rucking. In addition to things like stride length, centre of gravity, absolute weight, and weight to strength ratio are all relevant factors as well, but it's a complicated equation since being heavier provides more leverage to counterbalance the weight of your bergen, but reduces efficiency and obviously increases the overall metabolic demands. Either way, tall or short, you can train yourself to be good at rucking.
