My premise is that over the next 20 years, the hotspot for wars and proxy wars will be the Middle East.

Based on what we have learned from previous conflicts, from a US perspective is:

The US population has a very low tolerance for casualties

The liberal media will be more harsh against conservative Presidents than Liberal ones during times of combat

The region is known for long range stand off harassment while probing for weak points and then rushing those weak points

CAS is getting expensive in lost aircraft and lives

Collateral damage will be on every news station within hours whether actual or fabricated by the enemy.

One fix is even more drones firing Hydra 70 rockets. They come in many munition choices including guided for low collateral damage and flechette because there is something scary as hell as getting strafed with flesh ripping darts.

The drones can take pictures to document all actions to show good kills.

Drones don't die, don't come home in a casket wrapped in a flag, can't be captured and beheaded, and can't become a statistic to weaken morale.

I like the Hydra 70 system because mavericks to kill people is pretty cost prohibitive, especially out in the open with no chance of collateral damage.

We should have enough to both scout for intelligence and provide fire support to forward elements.

Could be a quick reaction response to surveillance balloons identifying unusual activity (IED planting, weapons running, etc.)

Pilots won't like it, but it is the future, as much as cars replaced horses. We still have horses, they are just used for different things.

What do you think the best weapons platform for future drones (fixed and rotary wing)?

Wow such insight
>CAS is getting expensive in lost aircraft and lives
In terms of lost aircraft and lives, CAS is the cheapest it has ever been.
>Collateral damage will be on every news station within hours whether actual or fabricated by the enemy.
No. Liveleak maybe.
>The drones can take pictures to document all actions to show good kills.
Useful how?
>Could be a quick reaction response to surveillance balloons identifying unusual activity (IED planting, weapons running, etc.)
Requiring thousands of people to sit behind BH/WH screens in air-conditioned trailers 24/7 to monitor every inch of the middle east. Doesn't seem practical.

I won't even discuss it due to your fundamental misunderstanding of how to post properly.
Also, good job on figuring out that ME is going to be a hotspot, you're such an insightful nigger

The next war will be a Civil War in the US between Marxist-Socialist Democrats and RINO's vs We The People.
During the bloodshed:
*China will take Hawaii
*Russia will take Alaska
*Mexico will take CA, NV, NM, AZ and TX
Japan will rush to defend Hawaii, oh how the tables have turned.
China will vastly increase their empire.
Over 100 million will die in Australia-Oceana-Japan
Slavs will utterly decimate muzzies
There will be no fewer than 20 full power US or Russian ICBM's deployed. But no more than 30. No major cities will be hit. Only battlegrounds.

I can't imagine what OP saw to determine modern CAS was planes and pilots dropping left and right. Aren't most CAS runs done with PGMs dropped from way outside the AA capabilities of the enemies?

The US dollar will collapse and the US will not be able to wage war on the scale it does now. It will be able to do what Russia is doing in Syria or what the UK did in the Falklands but it won't be the global power it is today.

Why do i think this? Well i just look at fiat currencies and empires historically, its well over due and the cracks are beginning to show.

Or the private central bankers, which they almost did in 2008. Literally two hours away from a total collapse and then they got a check of infinite money courtesy of the US tax payer.

Most of these problems could be solved by simply taking away military support to reporters so if they want to take a look at what's going on in the area they'll have to do it on their own dime. It should reduce the rate of problematic reports 10-fold as most of them decide to fuck off and those that don't become raghead food.

>Pilots won't like it, but it is the future

Pilots do like it though because it means they can do their job from an air conditioned office outside of Vegas and not have to be deployed overseas in an actual combat zone. It's called "chair force" for a reason.

>What do you think the best weapons platform for future drones (fixed and rotary wing)?

There is no "best" platform, just a hodgepodge of individual systems (stealth jets like the X-47, expendable bombers like the MQ-4 and MQ-9, helicopters, weather balloons, etc) operating with each other like their regular counterparts do (but with far lower costs and energy). Likewise, the Navy has been rapidly advancing their UUV tech, which now covers essentially everything from pipe pigs, automatic defoulers, mining drills, salvage and reconnaissance (this is in part due to the rise of offshore drilling and the rise of demand for rare earth minerals).

The big thing isn't the vehicles themselves, it's their integration into a larger battle networking system. This is what the Internet (as Darpanet) was originally envisioned as being, as was the GPS system. Computers are now fast, reliable and cheap enough where it can all work together. This is the big advancement of our generation (1967-present), and the crown jewel is the CG(x) program which will tie it all together into one combat-effective system. Kind of like Skynet from Terminator. The AF's equivalent system would be an airborne drone carrier, which they are revisiting (after originally studying it in the late 40s).

That said, this only came about due to more or less a general unwillingness to fight a traditional war which demands quantity over quality. When the current peace ends, drones will be shown to be less effective compared to long range missiles and traditional bombers that can be built and deployed in bulk from the mainland US. This is when things like directed nuclear weapons and other SDI goodies are revisited.

Uh no the Air Force actually has trouble getting the pilots to fly drones. most of them would rather be flying the aircraft itself.

>>34045162
Here's the things with drones. You're not gonna accomplish much unless you get boots on the ground. Their signals can be hacked into and it has happened into the past. If you want to get shit done you're gonna need more than drones.
