Honestly the all out battles felt like the weakest part. Its like they just threw as many ships on screen as they could in no discernible formation or pattern, and because there were so many ships they couldn't afford to use the shield effects as it would've been too expensive. Honestly they did a great job with fewer ships, like the one episode where the Klingon's attack the dominion base with just a few ships.

For one, as essentially it is a Federation VS. Zeon remake, it makes it cool. The setting and the machines was bretty cool.

It's first act and second acts were alright. Especially when one puts it to contrast versus the first Gundam series (i.e. Civilian Amuro just willingly fights like a tool. Kira more realistically acts the part of a shanghaied civilian that undergoes tremendous pressure as a result). This is lost on Western guys since for many of them their first Gundam was Wing.

The Pop-Idol-Cum-Political-Leader Lacus was a warning sign. And then the armed pacifist bullshit started the convoluted plot. The Japan Self-Insert that is O.R.B is tiresome too.

There's no saving DESTINY though.

Galactic War brought on by Self Defense Force. Most planets reduced to 20th or 21st century technology, quite a few even below that.
So bad the savior decides to go into exodus just traveling away from known galaxy instead of dealing with squabbling Houses and 80% of the forces decide to join.
They fight....yet again. Drop dead during 2nd fight, son decides on a 2nd exodus from the first exodus.
Ends up forming the clans, so they can not destroy themselves (mostly) by using formalized fighting...

Meanwhile in the known galaxy
Houses start another galactic war, First Succession War, to declare themselves as Lord of the Star League.
Nukes, Biological, Chemical attacks, assassinations out of the ass, hitting civilian centers and worlds.
War so bad that peace talks never happen just every gets so badly damaged that it kinda just stops.

9 years later...2nd succession war.
Space cultish AT&T pretty much starts the war and draws everyone in with disinformation. Fighting gets so bad that all information, and production capability of space phones and Internet (HPG) are lost, jump drive capability too.
Comstar fully takes over HPG network, conventions are made not to destroy jumpships (hahaha).

Third Succession War. Where the board games initially took place. Lower intensity fights mostly over industrial area control, everyone at this point had somewhat realized that another all out war might mean fighting with non corrugated cardboard suits and calling yourself a Mechwarrior.

Memory core providing some information found and analysis begins....time to get dumb again

4th succession war, worst one since the 2nd. Largest Faction (Fed Sun) and Comcast intelligence communities begin secret war.

At most points the initial Self Defense tech (initial Lost Tech (the name would be used to describe more as time went on) could be the equivalent of the G11, wheres most of the other stuff later on in the series is around a WW1 rifle.

Nah I was talking about War in the Pocket. I'm a Xeon fanboi so I'm just posting random gifs of nice Xeon mobile suits. I was super disappointed that Bernie had to die, and the line about him being "Hamburger meat" was fucking killer, and I felt Al's pain. He seemed so close to winning it when he dragged the fight into the forest and cut the shit out of that Gundam with his Heat Hawk.

8th's Xeon "victory" was pretty good, I appreciated Norris ambushing the first Gun Tank and distracting the MS team just to finish off the last one, but I hated his death, too. He had the capacity for victory, and for the sake of advancing the gay ass wunderwaffen plot, one of the best Xeon pilots at that point in the UC had to get obliterated by some faggot Fed kid with a super shallow love interest.

Currently on Stardust Memories and Gato is god tier, probably my favorite pilot next to Char thusfar.
