This, OP.
I'm 5'11" and have a terrible time shooting the 226.
>>
>>34038275
>current year
>not being a manlet
lmao
>>
>>34038244
It doesn't
>>
>>34038244
It can help with recoil if you're shooting something like a magnum cartridge. For most semi auto calibers, it doesn't matter at all.
>>
>>34038469
Why are there so many short fucking men?

I'm a midwesterner, but I travel, and dear God are all of you fucks getting tiny. Or do we just get too many growth hormones in our meat or something?

Also, bore axis matters for the same reason the distance of force from the fulcrum of a lever matters.
>>
>>34038500
Beats me, I always just blamed it on my dad because he was also short.
>all this 5'11 privilege
Fucking cunts, I wish I could grow 3 inches taller.
>>
>>34038275
like bro hahaha how the fuck can you even be a manlet in today's society hahahah just be tall lmao
>6'4 masterrace
>>
>>34038244
It doesn't matter, just ask any sig owner. The vast majority of pro shooters gravitating to relatively low bore axis designs is a lie. There's no difference between high bore axis and low bore axis designs, the difference in terms of moment is only like 8%! the amount of reciprocating mass doesn't matter either, and there's definitely no difference between actual recoil and felt recoil. biomechanics? what does that mean? we didn't cover that at all in my community college blue collar degree program!
>>
>>34038527
>6'4
>not a manlet

hahaha 1 inch short of the cutoff little guy hahaha try being a trap or something lmao

>tfw 6'9 masterrace
>>
>>34038518
You say that, but fuck does being man-sized make finding boots and shoes a fucking problem.

Somehow I looked away for five minutes between high-school and becoming an adult, and suddenly it's near impossible to find shoes bigger than a size 11us.
>>
>>34038537
>not being 15'12
I can't believe people unironically think being under 13 foot is not manlet status
>>
>>34038537
Airplane travel must be a special hell for you.
>>
>>34038500
It's the mexicans. No I'm not even fucking kidding, those squat little fat beaners mixing with americans is legitimately driving the national average height down, same with how a certain melanin-rich ethnic group drives the average IQ down

Go to Wisconsin and you'll see strong, tall, whites with nordic features, same with Ohio and Iowa. The south is full of mixed breeds with brown skin who've spoken more Spanish than English in their lives.
>>
>>34038275
you're all fucking manlets... 6'1" but I'm a cock strong farmer. If you're sole source of income isn't dependent upon your physical strength you're a manlet.

This.

Higher bore axis means that the pistol has more leverage. For the same recoil energy, your wrist will bend further.
The Russians took the Margolin pistol, turned it upside-down to give it a bore axis just about perfectly colinear with the wrist and used it at the Olympics with great success until it was banned for giving an unfair advantage.
>>
>>34038539
Is it really just shoes? I'd have figured you'd have a harder time with shirts and shit since nearly everything is produced in overcrowded Asian countries where men and women are nearly indistinguishable.
>>
>>34038548
Everything is, even some buses are fucky
The good news is that I turn heads and can scale most obstacles easily since they're maybe head height if anything
>>
>>34038500
Human height, like all human attributes varies greatly. The average height of a man in the us is 5' 10", so if you are at that height or greater, roughly half the men you meet will be shorter than you.

Like I said, midwesterner, so American, meaning shirts aren't a problem since I'm not a fat fuck, pants are easy, jackets can be hit or miss.

But the main problem when I'm in Florida or some shit, is shoes and God damn button down shirts. I always have to somehow find a shirt large enough to fit my shoulders and neck, but not some big and tall POS that you swim in. I end up having to get some slim-fit version of something huge.

Manlet problems suck, but so does not being able to clothe yourself because most faggots who go out and shop are 5'9 fuggbois.

My p226 feels like a .22 and I can't even feel the recoil. you just suck.
>>
>>34038692
I only know the struggle of finding 16s. Extra wide must be hell
>>
>>34038692
14EE here, the very vast majority of manufacturers stop at 13W and maybe 90% of retailers only carry up to 13W at all. Gotta order them shits off bigshoes.com or a manufacturer website (try Carolina Boots, their wide is very roomy)
>>
Honestly, though... I find shopping for gloves harder.
>Oh, these gloves are marked XXL!
>They don't fit...

>>34038597
It's always the sig guys who say this.

>go read reviews of any high bore axis gun, particularly easy with smaller sized models.

>every other review is "good gun but a little snappy, my friends *insert low bore axis gun* is a little easier for follow up shots but to each their own"
>rabidly defend brand honor on every thread about bore-axis or other recoil mitigating design factors
>everybody who disagrees is poorfag or manlet

every fucking day
>>
>>34039395
Help me understand, because I have 2 p320s, a full-size .45 and a compact 9 and I'm newguns. I feel like the 9 is snappier than the .45 but that's just because it's longer and heavier, right?
>>
>>34038757
That's because it's 9mm. Get a man caliber.
>>
>tfw only 6'1
>>
>>34038244
For the 10% of /k/ that actually hasguns it doesn't matter to most because the majority of their shooting is slow, controlled fire on a static range. For those of us who oper8 a lower bore axis equates to less muzzle flip and faster followup shots.
>>
>>34039622
Every poll conducted on firearm ownership here shows significantly more than 10% of us own guns.
>>
>>34039622
So what you're saying is, it doesn't matter unless you're a competition shooter?
>>
>>34039550

IME recoil is a surprisingly complex feel and also varies a bit based on your build/stance. That being said I find snappiness to correlate with cartridge velocity to a certain degree. .45 imparts more force over all(generally speaking) than the 9mm but the duration over which those forces are applied is greater. this makes the recoil of the .45 feel a little bit more like a shoving sensation than the quick but light snapping of the 9.

If i had to guess overtime with lots of shooting of both you would find the 9mm to seem a lot less snappy because you've subconsciously become accustomed to it and have also been physically prepared. Due to this you may very well come to think that the 9mm is still snappy, but slightly easier to get back on target quickly or stay more on target during all the recoil than the .45. But personal preference is a big factor in all this.

Personally this is my experience with shooting both cartridges from mid sized firearms.

45.: a lot of fun and easy to "ride the wave" of the recoil and get back on target. Metered accurate fire is easy but double taps and mag dumps are a little slower and wider apart(going as fast as i can).

9mm: about as accurate as .45 with metered fire but doubletaps are brainlessly easy to pull off even at moderate distances for a filthy casual such as myself. They're usually slightly tighter and quicker to perform, and mag dumping is a little quicker/easier too.

TL:DR your perception of snappiness will likely decrease more than your perception of shove-iness.
>>
>>34039622
jerry miculek can shoot a 45 acp s&w 625 and stay on target faster than you will ever be able to shoot a semi auto 9

pic is an HK45. A gun with a ridiculously high bore axis and is chambered in .45 while being a polymer frame pistol.

I have warrior's toe. I'm probably a 12 skateboard wide, but have to settle on 13 or 14 double wide, and even then it's a fucking crapshoot. Just bought caterpillar 13EE, and my toe knuckles have burst their seams in under a month.

Fuck, I just want good work and hiking shoes...

crazy i know. its almost like they'd shoot even flatter with a gun that had a lower bore axis.

All the dudes in my family are manlets averaging 5'8 except me and my brother who are 6 and 6'1. We were born in Arizona but the rest of our family was born in small town New Hampshire.

But what does this mean? Nothing. To be on topic I've shot all kinds of handguns including the full sized Sigs and I've noticed no major difference in performance over other handguns in similar calibers.
>>
Do striker-fired pistols inherently have a lower bore axis than hammer-fired?
>>
>>34041423
No, though it's easier to design a gun with low bore axis using a striker.
>>
>>34041423
Not always. Most CZ's are hammer fired and they all have a low bore axis.
>>
>>34041455
Why is the cz75 so perfect?
>>
>>34041455
>CZ pistols have a low bore axis

>>
