It survived wars where they had a fuckton of ammunition available, spare parts everywhere, and if your gun got fucked you could just get a new one quickly supplied to you or take the rifle off your dead buddy.

In an SHTF situation where your ammo and parts are basically limited to what you have on your person when it all starts you will be infinitely better off with something that you can afford plenty off ammo and parts for, doesn't even have to an AR-15 or whatever, a modern common bolt gun in .308 is a better option than a surplus gun chambered in fucking .303 british.
