/k/ lads, I had the most vivid dream last night.
World's fastest revolver.
MS Paint skills are off the charts!
You are looking at a cross section of a cylinder.
Solid black rectangles represent the frame.
Ripstop nylon belt fed rounds feed into the cylinder pockets.
Brass stays on belt, makes automated reloading easiest process ever.
The recoil advances the cylinder.
Simplest. Machine. Gun. Ever.
DoD awards me 1 BILLION dollar contract for first batch!
Tround was better
>>34034078
Belt fed is vast improvement over snug fit or suction fit nonsense.
Trounds look like tampons anyway.
so you've invented the revolver cannon?

hey summer
>>34034067
So you thought up a gatling gun without the benefit of multiple barrels.
>>34034123
I know, right!? Simplicity > complexity
I hope it fires out the bottom
>>34034101
>so you've invented the revolver cannon?
Nope. No bevel gears or cams required.
>>34034127
it would overheat and probably suffer bending of some kind. bullets will hit the barell walls and blow it. you didn't invent a revolver, you invented a fun suiciding method.
>>34034127
>simplicity
I hope it shoots directly into the operators skull
When can you give us a demo?
>>34034127
If you wanna call an overheated barrel in 5 seconds "simplicity", sure.
>>34034154
>bullets will hit the barell walls and blow it
Nope. Lockup and alignment is easy.
does it fire out the bottom?
>>34034164
>does it fire out the bottom?
It fires straight ahead.
>>34034162
metal distorts when too hot, it doesnt matter if you align, you are trying to spit bullet after bullet in the same barrell. you know i was joking about the suicide but you can't possibly believe that this wouldn't overheat and destroy the gun.
>>34034160
>If you wanna call an overheated barrel in 5 seconds "simplicity", sure.
Who cares? Cost of repair / replacement is absurdly cheap on the DoD scale.
>>34034184
>metal distorts when too hot, it doesnt matter if you align, you are trying to spit bullet after bullet in the same barrell. you know i was joking about the suicide but you can't possibly believe that this wouldn't overheat and destroy the gun.
Are you imagining holding the trigger for minutes? I am imagining bursts.
>>34034187
>Who cares if a revolving weapon which I explicitly called a "machinegun" becomes useless in 5 seconds of firing?
Alright.
>>34034067
The problem is that the top of the case is unsupported
>>34034212
Simply debating your subjective viewpoint.
>>34034221
A machinegun that overheats in 5 seconds is about as useful as a tank made of glass. If your idea was any good, it would've already been thought up long before you were born.
>>34034255
What kind of glass?
Just remember, Thomas Edison rejected 9000 ideas that did not benefit his light bulb filament cabal before giving us Holly Hobby Oven heating elements!
Genius is seldom understood.
>>34034255
>it would've already been thought up long before you were born
Remember when the patent office declared that, everything that could be invented has been invented"?
>>34034200
then it's not a machine gun, not better in any way than multibarrell and Mattis doesn't visit /k/, even if i did do you think this would be commissioned? c'mon mang
>>34034354
>then it's not a machine gun
It is a machine gun. It's up to the operator to hold the trigger for however long is warranted.
>>34034370
if he's going to have a malfunctioning gun after 10 seconds it's not really up to him, is it?
>>34034377
>if he's going to have a malfunctioning gun after 10 seconds it's not really up to him, is it?
Is your next argument going to stretch to 15 seconds?
You're a little late to the party buddy. Like 150 years late. Split breach type guns have been around for a long, long time.
>>34034405
I actually did not see this patent. I'm sure it has expired. Thank you, sincerely. Time for improvements!
>>34034405
>inb4 mine uses a non-disintegrating belt for quick reloads!
Still 50 years late for that as well. Pic related is a split breach, belt fed grenade launcher
>>34034419
>>34034430
Forgot my pic but the design is shit dude. It is wayyyy too easy to foul.
>>34034441
>wayyyy too easy to foul
I have made vast improvements on this as well. Been on CAD all morning converting my dream into something I can mesh and FEA.
>>34034565
>dont let your dreams be your dreams
good luck anon
>>34034067
>>34034127
How about this? We stick with the already simple design on the M240 and call it a day?
>>34034565
if it works upload a video
if it blows up get someone else to upload the video
>>34034595
M240 is a heavy piece of shit.
Maybe this would work with polymer cased ammo and special shaped cartridges, like maybe have the cases be shaped the same as the Tround pistol cartridges.
Obviously it wouldn't work with circular ammo since the circular case isn't fully supported in this design, you would just rupture all your cases.
>>34034149
How do you make the whole, "recoil advances the cylinder" thing happen?
>>34035251
You are NOT getting this most important piece of the puzzle.
Nice try, poor gun manufacturer with no original ideas.
>>34035251
You could obviously have the cylinder have a camming surface that is engaged when the cylinder and the barrel move backwards under recoil. I would prefer a gas operated action since it would facilitate a fixed barrel but eh whatever.
>>34034160
>Implying it doesn't shoot cold bullets to cool off the barrel.
That's why it's the worlds first 5.7mm revolver
>>34035251
Nice try, Taurus! Go make your own glocknade!
>>34035783
why are the spent casings still in the belts?
>>34034154
Oh boy, can I go first?
>>34034187
I too enjoy changing out a barrel while under fire.
>>34037978
These used a continuous loop belt that had to be reloaded by hand. It was integrated into the weapon, it wasn't fed from a disintegrating link belt like what newer GMG's like the Mk19 use.
>>34038014
Thanks
have some judy hopps
>>34034067
Its been done before. I thought of this same damn thing about 6 months ago.

No it hasn't for rifle calibers.

Uhhuh sure thing there buddy.
>>34038543
Yeah and so does the PKM while only weighing 16 pounds, what the fuck is your point?
>>34034154
Huh, i wonder why the revolver cannon is a popular style of action for high rpm 20mm cannons then.
