What would a modern variant of an M3 look like /k/?

Like an M3, but with a 1913 rail.

Considering they're still used today by the Philippines I guess whatever alterations they've done:

"Modifications done on the refurbished weapons include an integral suppressor and a Picatinny rail.The weapon had been tested with a prototype on May 2004."

So the same gun with an integrated suppressor and picatinny rail.

For the latter, probably much the same, but in 9mm, with injection molded plastic grips, double stack magazines probably glock compatible. Rail on the top long enough for a red dot and not much else. Possibly a different stock, probably just more sturdy with a plastic butt-plate

Honestly its a tube gun - theres not a lot of variety to be had in their manufacture.

It would be mostly plastic and the MSRP would be $1999.

Why bother? The M3 barrel is tiny and screws off easily. If you want a suppressor, just replace the entire barrel like they did with the original.

Theoretically speaking, considering the whole kinda works off a built in internal rail and trunnion, would it be possible to make the receiver (even the top tube) out of polymer with a few metal reinforcements?

You'd still need somewhere to safely anchor the recoil springs/bolt guide at one end and the barrel at the other.

What I think you'd end up with would be a metal lower with a trunnion at either end (one for the barrel, the other for the bolt assembly) and a lightweight cover over the top.

At the bare minimum, you could have flat stock run the length and attach to said trunnnions and to the back strap of the grip. The trigger group would be mounted to it and everything else would be made of plastic.
