A single google search of 'ATF' and 'braces' brings up every gun site out there showing the letter of the ATF saying that as long as the brace isn't modified, then it can be shouldered as is. Any modifications, even removing the strap, and it becomes a stock.

For fuck's sakes, we all went apeshit over this when it came out.

Shouldering a brace doesn't magically make it a stock. This has always been the case, and even the ATF knows they can't get away with that bullshit.

However, if you add a brace to your pistol with the INTENT to only ever use it as a stock, then it is a stock and you done fucked up. Luckily for you, its impossible to prove intent, unless you post on your fagpage or jewtube how you are skirting NFA laws.

If you're too stupid to understand what's going on here, please just sell all your guns.

You didn't actually read the ATF letter, because if you did they specifically say they opinion applies to all approved braces, not just the SB braces.

Yes. You should keep it EXACTLY as it was designed (and approved by the ATF tech division).

In the clarification letter, ATF specifically said they look for stuff like this. Removing the velcro strap, extending the LOP, adding a cheek weld etc are all indicative of your intent to use it as a stock rather than an arm brace.

Will they ever prosecute tho? My bet is the worst that happens is an official letter that says 'no mas' unless you used it in a crime.
