>Mil V-12
>what could've been

Like ~200 dead soviets in a pile of burning helicopter on the side of some godforsaken mountain in Afghanistan?

Shit, now I want it too.

Also, >>34011795 is right. The RAH-66 was designed for a type conflict that the US won't be involved in for a while longer. Given the high-maintenance nature of stealth anything, let alone an anything that spends most of it's combat time flying through dust and getting shot at, I can't imagine it would have gained a good reputation among troops, ground crews, and even pilots.
>>
>>34011910
OH58 was junk. Used to be good till the army loaded it up with so much equipment and shit the thing couldn't get out of its own way.

Just like they are doing to the AH64D, and currently the AH64E has a decent power margin but the army in its infinite wisdom will load it up with shit until it can barely get out of its own way again.

And the cycle will repeat it self. Breaks my heart.
>>
>>34011951
>implying that the RAH-66 wouldn't have come off the production line loaded up with all that shit anyway.

Me too anon me too.
At least I managed to nigger rig pic related to output the MFDs to a laptop screen and the pilot view to a monitor with a HOTAS (seats set up side by side for the ka-52 and front to back for the rah-66, ah-64, and mi-28) and 2 player'd it with a buddy back in the day.
>>
>>34011988
oh fuck man they cancelled that thing BECAUSE of the army loading it up with shit, changing software, changing hardware, massive cost overruns that caused over budget and over timeline until the army said ok fuck it stop. The army is its own worst enemy.

Comanche was cool but realistically having a stealth capacity to an attack helicopter is of limited use by the nature of its mission at least the way the US deploys attack helicopters anyway. What was important was the tech it pioneered that undoubtedly went into creating the stealth Blackhawk that is used for special ops insertion and extraction which is really a much better role for a very expensive stealth helicopter.

Even if the cold war hadn't ended, they'd be kind of obsolete anyway, since gunship avionics are so good now that they dont need spotters at all.

I don't know what it is about that type of shit but I love games that let you do out of character shit like that. A flying game letting you control a tank or vice-versa was just the neatest shit ever to me when I was a child.
