I prefer the AR platform to the AK, but one thing bugs me about the AR. It lacks the fluidity when it comes to reloading from a completely empty rifle.

With the AK, you can reach up the right side of the right with your loading hand and chamber a round. With the AR, it's a more awkward motion.

That said unless I'm in a circumstance where I will need to use the gun every single day and not be able to clean it properly for months, I'd stick with the AR.

I think the AR is the better tool but the AK is more fun to shoot.

The AR with an Eotech feels like a toy to me, point, boom, hits where you aim.
The AK with its iron sights and actual recoil make for a more engaging shooting experience.

I've got both and enjoy them, but I like shooting the AK more.

It's hard to explain, if you were not a complete mouthbreather you could probably figure out what I'm saying without being spoonfed a 3rd grade explanation.

The difference in shooting the two of them is pretty huge. The AR just works, it's too easy. It's like playing a shooting game. It's fun to shoot but it's not very engaging compared to the AK. Heavy, brutish, steel and wood with irons on top.

finding the bolt release under duress is my only gripe. With gloves on sometimes I miss the slap. I would much prefer the bolt release by my trigger finger so when I come off the trigger and reload, I can find the bolt release easier because my grip never changes and my muscle memory is the same.

I'm kinda torn. I love the AK100 rifles, but a standard ass DGI AR will shine in combat.

Not always. I broke my wrist really badly a couple years back and I struggle to get my hand totally flat so I really have to use the bottom of my hand or fingers. I guess its a bit of a me problem but I still think it would be better served using the trigger finger as its position doesn't change aiding in muscle memory.
