you also have to remember that change in firing stances before and after armor.

before armor you held the rifle across your chest to present a smaller target. after armor you hold it perpendicular to your chest, to present the rifle plate fully to the enemy.

the sights on my A2 held my perfect zero through out the entire iraq deployment. that rifle got banged around a bit. when I went outside the wire for FARP, retrans, or being the commo bitch for fire control teams.

I have a Colt 3x20 scope on my A1 parts kit build, can't be used at all without craning your neck very far forward due to eye relief. If you're in bladed stance it works fine, of course.

I've found mine quite comfy, chin-weld aside, and get a sight picture very easily. Eye relief is also lightyears better compared to, say, an ACOG.

They thought the barrels were getting bent because a straightness gauge wouldn't pass through, but it turned out to be a tiny burr on the gas port collecting brass.

I've been told rifle barrels wear about 4in from the chamber and 4in from the tip of the barrel.

With that logic, wouldn't adding material at the end help?
