using Real guns in airshit games

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

So I noticed The Kommando blog did an article on Milsim West, I had no idea people were using real guns for airsoft games these days.

Have any of you all played these milsim games? How well does it help you train using your gear? I think It would be a great way to run and use your gear, and see how well it works when you are under pressure and stress.

https://www.kommandoblog.com/2017/05/18/milsim-west-blanks/
>>
>>33997684
Don't be a faggot. Go to two gun and three guns and run against the clock. There is too many rules against blank fire and they're useless at milsim west. Plus NATO are a bunch of fucks who can't get anything done besides post photos to Instagram and lose objectives.
>>
>>33997717
watch the video, seems like you are wrong
>>
>>33997750
Read the TACSOP for blank fire and tell me that again
>>
>>33997684
This looks pretty fantastic
>>33997717
Running against a clock is great and all but completely useless in real senarios. All that high speed low drag shit you dp becomes useless when you actually run real gear and find out half the shit you used doesn't work like you thought in real senarios
>>
>>33997785
The video is litterally reading the tacsop while showing how it is used in application.
>>
>>33997795
You don't have to win the competition. People go there to have fun and some go there to win. Some are there to test their gear. Number skill of combat is speed and violence of action.
>>
>>33997819
That is not what this thread is about.
That is not testing your gear in days long combat environments to see how well it'll work while you are in a military camp, conducting operations, defending positions, and conducting offensive operations.
>>
>>33997819
What are you even talking about at this point?
>>
>>33997684
This is gayer than normal airsoft. There's more rules and you don't actually have an effect on the game (except "atmospheric effects") Call me when they release simunitions to the public.
>>
>>33997819
but if i lose then the guy who wins will make fun of me and steal my girl and then i have to train a bunch to win the next competition and win her back
>>
>>33998041
why don't we just all wear armor and shoot real bullets at eachother?
>>
>>33998095
People sometimes die when they are shot, anon.
>>
>>33998041
the other team also can't move into the area you are blank firing into either, so it's more than just sound
>>
>>33998126
that's the fun of it
>>
>>33997684
in the military we do training excersizes with paintball.
>>
>>33998141
does paintball hurt?
>>
>>33998154
More than airsoft.
>>
>>33998141
Do they use normal paintball guns or do they have some sort of nigger rigged m16 marker rifle?

78KB, 660x446px
>>33998183
we used to use simmunition but it got too expensive so now we use paint markers that look like m16s
>>
>>33998141
What country branch?

We used simunitions or blanks. Blanks are pretty useless but simunitions are legit for shoot houses. I've never seen paintball being used for training.
>>
>>33998226
US army national guard, my buddy in the marine reserves uses them too. the logic behind it is that in a shoot house the distances are so close that ballistics don't matter much.
>>
>>33998206
The problem I have with that is the manual of arms is completely different than a normal AR. I'm sure it's fine for training but if I was going to LARP around in the woods shooting fellow /k/ommandos I'd want a gun that worked like a real gun. In that situation airsoft is the better option but airsoft doesn't hurt as much as paitball, meaning there's less incentive to not get shot, which detracts from the whole experience as far as I'm concerned.

In short: simmuntions, sell your shit to the god damn public already.
>>
>>33998267
I'm not knocking it. I wish more training sections would use it. Blanks are basically useless in my opinion. Simunitions are hard to come by and depends largely on which unit I was assigned to.

With blanks we'd clear buildings and make it look good because there was no pain feedback. You could just run through a scenario and it would look high speed. When we got simunitions that shit set a whole new standard and made you really think and would fuck up your whole plan.

If I was still in I would propose the paintball thing to the units with less funding.

Yes, I don't know if you know him, but oxide, who makes a lot of popular milsim videos, usually organizs a 4chan /k/ group that plays at events. I think this coming event Flandre is doing the recruiting.

There is a /k/ milsim organisation Facebook page as well, it's linked in the article OP posted.
>>
>>33998932
It's usually joint /k/ and /asp/ groups, we had a /k/ only group attend once. I wasn't able to make it but some well known trips were there,
From what I remember
Skeletor, Mike (Innawoods operating waifu), Zasta, Flandre, Mugi-Chan, Oxide, and Chimps were a there with a bunch of other anons.

This sounds like a good way to get shot by some retard who has real ammo in his mags.
Also, "Kommando Blog"? The fuck is this autistic shit?
>>
>>33999961
they do not let you bring ammo already loaded into mags.

you bring your rifle equipped with a blank fire adapter and the box of blanks as you bought them.

you open your rucksack for inspection and show you have all the required items and then you have to do a blank fire safety test and a function test of your rifle.

they inspect your ammo and make sure its just blanks.

what a bunch of pussies. me and my bro used to play with real guns. RIP in piece trey ill see u again some day dawg
>>
>>33998154
It can, badly at times.

Played a game called ironman, one guy versus everyone else and he can only be "killed" by being hit in the head 3-5 times or "mercy" kill. (sneak up from behind and call mercy)

I ran into him and just dumped almost every last shot i had as i tried to move, seeing the guy flinch and squirm before he hit me.

When all was said and done, i found out that he didn't shoot me right away because my shots had cut his hand open.

68 cal (think that's what the paint rounds are) can sting pretty good, i'd hate to get hit by one that some asshole freezes before.
>>
>>34000691
Yeah I was playing one time and my friend froze his balls (we were using cheap ass monsterballs from walmart to begin with that never break) and he bunkered me and shot me point blank in the top of the head on full auto with them. Couldnt even see my eyes were watering so bad
>>
>>33999759
Similar to paintball.

As >>33999787 says you can tell if you're hit even if it hits your flak or a baggy part of your clothing. Also, niggers like to try and cheat and pretend they weren't hit just like in paintball.
>>
>>34000794
>>33999787
Accurate.

People can shit all over painball as much as they want, but it's like any other sport ever, they have protective gear for a reason. If it hits hard enough that it can cause someone any kind of harm, you will feel it hit your gear.

Honestly? Unless we make stun rounds, like something out of Halo, paintball is as close as we can get to a non-lethal sim of combat imo.

How do you guys even watch a full video of some dude breathing into his microphone and trying too hard to sound like ASMR-tier quality on a shitty headset and telling you blank fire is realistic over footage of a 5'3 long-haired mongrel shooting a trash-tier AK while tip-toeing in mixed camo while his buddies stand around in the open, shooting plastic BBs at each other?

Honestly, besides trying to inflate your egos, why even call it MilSim if it has nothing military and nothing of a simulation?

Yes.
I was shooting real guns as a kid.
My dad taught me to shoot and he was military.
When I grew up I joined the military.
It doesn't make you unable to play water balloon fights or tag.

Airsoft is for kids.
It's like hungry hungry hippos or playing cowboy and Indians.
I'm not telling you can't play kids games, I'm just making sure you know that you're playing kids games.
>>
>>34007395
In real life it means not freezing up in a doorway or going through and objective.

Your actions and speed have to be violent and you have to be in an action state of mind.

In airsoft it's just people LARPing and using words they saw on TV one time.

>>34007395
not that fag but violence of action is basically a strategy where one simply applies the idea that action is faster than reaction. Pretty much you just string several actions together in such a quick fashion that your opponent is overwhelmed before they can think of a proper reaction.

Throwing a frag in a room, busting down the door a second after it goes off and lighting everybody up before they even realize what's happened would be one example.

Another would be if a guy began a telegraphed punch so you jabbed him in the throat, elbowed him in the jaw, and then threw him to the ground before he could do anything.

Pretty much like chaining a combo together in a video game but IRL.

Only time I ever used paintball was in basic training at Ft. Knox 2008

Those fuckers stinged. I remember I was hiding behind cover with someone shooting at me from a building. Well, I guess the right side of my torso and leg was still exposed, because that shit hurt. Feels like being stung by a bee. My Drill Sgt then proceeded to shoot me all over my legs after the battle was over while going to get some water for my canteen because the day earlier I screamed all the way down the rappel tower, and I guess he wanted to hear me scream some more.

Been there done that.

Milsim west is funny because nothing pisses the green guys off more then not giving a fuck.

Blank squads are funny too because you can totally ignore them, i stood there and watched 3 of them shoot at me then just walk away because lolwhatchugonnado.avi. also if you walk to close to them they cant shooot which is also funny.

Shits childs play, like not even the good type

Paintball is okay, but if you dont have a 1200$ marker with a hairpin trigger dont bother going to open play public events your just cannon fodder when i can fire 40 balls per second and whipe half a flank cuz lolrange lolaccuracy

Sim is fun, but you need the proper bolt group. I made some from reloading .308 rounds with a glue mold and got the same effect. Easy to do and accurate enough.. just the glue doesnt take enouhh backpressure to cycle the bolt

this guy gets it
pb is fun, but having to play against pub-stompers is boring and not really funny
best is to get a big group of players, which are at ~ the same level and know each other
THEN pb can be really fun and challenging
>>
>>33998326
I worked at a paintball field.

Like once a year we would have marine reserve and navy reserve units show up and train.

Worked at a pb field for like 5 years off an on. We used pb guns at knox in 2009.

As for pb in training situations. Airsoft might be better, just because of the realism, but paintball lets you know you actually shot someone and not shrug it off.

Its only good use would be mout training, and maybe in the woods if you set up some lanes for small unit manuevers and reaction to contact.

Otherwise the range isn't there and people aren't used to wearing a mask
>>
>>34010871
>Blank squads are funny too because you can totally ignore them, i stood there and watched 3 of them shoot at me then just walk away because lolwhatchugonnado.av

that is literally breaking the rules. Just as bad as not calling a hit, you are supposed to run for cover, call a hit, or hit the ground

If a cadre caught you doing that they'll give you some serious shit
>>
>>34010655
I would say it's good for practicing use of your gear as well

Running gear, practicing with said gear, running around, stamina, working with a team etc.

Those are all good things you can get a grasp on playing airsoft and military simulation games.

Weapon handling... not so much
>>
>>34011965
It's decent for training cqb skills though

true, with short distances in cqb, airsoft can be used as a great training tool. I use a CO2 airsoft pistol of my CZ-75 to train myself and my wife in our house for different scenarios

My plan for this year is to run a blank AR + $60 airshit shotgun for when I'm indoors or expecting fights close then I can use blanks.

They're talking about the NATO side during the events.

I have to agree, the Vatniks in those games are a lot more motivated from videos that Oxide releases.

our shit is all fucked my man, we don't even get proper blank firing adapters or working simulation gear like in that pic as far as the army side of shit goes for us burgers

we had an up-armored crew vehicle in one exercise in fort fuckass, the fucking gun turret didn't work so i was forced to take my equally fucked M249 SAW with a cracked gas tube and lift the muzzle over the turret shield plates so i could shoot stuff (which didn't matter because i shot 80 rounds through a belt and then i had to gerber tool a fucking cartridge out of the chamber)

yeah good times, lets dump like 2 million bucks into an MRAP that breaks down once a month though

>>
>>34013808
Usually we do Integrate bbgats into blank squads, but bbgats have a limited range. So if some fuck is standing outside the range of a bbgat, the only fire that can reach them in milsim games is blank fire. If they take incoming blank fire, they must run, take cover, or call a hit.

If you do otherwise, you are breaking the rules and wasting your money. It's a military Simulation game. No one stands around while taking direct fire.

If someone wants to stand around like the idiot in >>34010871
They shouldn't even come. Go to a different goddamn airshit game like lionclaws if you are going to be a shitty player like that, break rules, and not treat the game like a military Simulation.

Not really; militia is annoying disorganized and (at least at the event I went to) was more memes than it was fighting. Sure, we fought a bunch, but from what I understand at all the events outside of the one I went to militia is usually given shitty missions like "go die to distract the enemy" and so on and so forth. Hell, even at Grozny we were given the shit stick of pulling an LPOP and ended up sitting on the cold, wet ground with no movement from 9PM to 3-4AM without ever being relieved by another militia unit even though other milita guys were walking through our positions, talking loudly, and randomly popping off. It was really, really annoying.

>MFW I took the bait

You're autistic. War as a political tool that results in the deaths of others for the selfish gain of a few shouldn't be glorified, but fun should be.

Milsim is a fucking game. No matter how much you dress it up, how many rules you add to it, it's still a fucking game, not a real war, not a glorification of war. It's about winning, and losing, and all the interesting shit that happens in between, with no serious consequences at the end, that just happens to require its participants to dress up like army men and follow a similar command structure. When you remove all the actual shit that makes war so horrible, then it's fine. The glorification of war involves justifying the bad along with the good, and painting it as an acceptable outcome. Airsoft is just having a blast by playing dress-up and tagging other people with little plastic balls.

At Grozny we were given the mission to be a tripwire but ended up being called in about fifteen minutes before all of the Green beans retreated to our town and about five minutes later they attacked all of us. Saturday morning we attacked a building that they held in our town and basically got ass wrecked because of poor coordination and the rest of Saturday and Sunday morning we were attacked by NATO's largest section (they were also the most incompetent; about 80 guys and two HMMWVs but the HMMWVs held the only real skilled people) while the other units were hit with smaller attacks by people who knew what they were doing. There were a few times they broke the main attack on us to go and hit our more organized units but for the most part it was our seven man squad taking on 80 dudes in a well-fortified position.

I don't have a problem with that, but it wasn't a challenge. The only time anyone with any real skill attacked us was when the enemy had broken the backs of every other unit and once that happened we got destroyed because our radios were dead and we had some poor internal communication that was mostly the result of a 50/50 blank/airshit squad that made us virtually useless against any force that made it into the building.
