Leatheman Surge. I've had it for nearly 10 years now and there's not many times where you will need another tool if you've got a Leatherman Surge. Pliers and scissors are starting to get loose on me and I think I will buy another within the next couple of years, but it's well worth the money imo. Anyone know if I could just send this one back for repairs though? I'd hate to throw it out if I replace it.

They have a lifetime warranty I believe. I've never had one break tho lol.
>>
My favorite ever is the Swisstool Spirit, but I lost mine somehow. I'm currently using a Wave but don't like it as much, it's heavier, bigger, the tools aren't as well designed and there are less of them, and it's not as well built.
>>
>>33995937

Leatherman Sidekick.

It's relatively cheap while still being well made. Has a belt/pocket clip and spring loaded pliers.

Only downside is it's a little heavy, but it's really not that bad.
>>
>>33995937
I carry a Leatherman Wingman pretty much every day.

I know its one of their lowest tier models, but a new one is expensive and I'm sentimental about it - it was a gift and it literally saved my life once.
>>
>>33996652
>this.
Got it as a replacement a few weeks ago, and I've had zero issues with it
>>
>>33996743
Sidenote, the only dofference between the sidekick and the wingman is an extra knife/saw instead of the wingman's scissors.
>>
>>33996049
Send it in. They will maybe send you another refurbished; if you want tje same one back, tell them.
I've had one fixed because the latch spring broke (Wave); their webpage for repair returns is easy peasy.
>>
A Leatherman Micra came with this outdoors medkit I picked up at a goodwill a few years ago. Excellent medical multitool, makes me want more of them.
>>
>>33996838
You should try the SOG version. I had both and had to surrender both at diffrent times when I went to fly and forgot I can't bring a itty bitty knife with me. I used to cut sheet metal and wires with the little SOG. Had some sorta gear system to help the snips cut harder.
>>
Leatherman Surge in the house
Leatherman Wingman in the car for JIC
Gerber MP600 in my range bag
Leatherman Style CS on my keychain
>>

I get a lot of mileage out of my Vic's large flathead driver.

Which, admittedly, happens to be a liner-locking cap opener, prybar and wire stripper all-in-one on my model (Forester, one hand opener version).

Something something something multitoolception, really.
>>
Leatherman Micra.

Handy as fuck. For all the times I need to cut something, scissors are usually the best tool for the job, unless it is opening a box, but if I need that I can pop out the knife really easy.

It's small enough to add no weight to my EDC and if I take it somewhere I shouldn't have it it is the same size of a flashdrive or lighter.

This $40 dollar Gerber I bought on base back in ~2009. No self respecting SAW Gunner goes without a multi tool.

>>

Leatherman Wave
gonna replace it with a Chage AL when I don't have anything more important to buy
>>
>>33996731
Do tell how.
>>
>>33995937
I have a wave.
Cool thing, it is convenient to fix everyday stuff and I use the pliers to handle hot materials.
I don't even need a separate knife anymore.
The diamond file is good for sharpening my hatchet.

That's really the main reason I bought mine,it actually has a beefy blade. I have 2 Wingmans and a Sidekick laying around hear with broken tips and I was tired of it happening. I also thought about buying a Charge, buy the Signal's carbiner clip and meme features won me over.

I just wish the main knife didn't have serrations and they replaced the awl with a little serrated knife.

Nothing badass or MacGyver. Was in a car crash last year, truck (like a moving truck, not a semi) blew through a red light and rolled our car down an embankment.

Truck driver died, my friend who was driving was thrown from the car somehow but survived. Car ended up on its side/partially upside down with me still in the front passenger seat.

Dunno if I was just dazed or if it was actually damaged but I couldn't get the seatbelt undone. The multitool was in the glove box, I managed to grab it and cut myself free. Couldn't open my door, or climb to other door so I broke the window with it. Crawled up to the road and passed out. Heard later that by the time the emergency services got the car was on fire.

I should point out that you shouldn't always leave you vehicle - injuries can be made worse, and you might be in a more dangerous place after. Just happened in my case that it was the right choice.

Bit overrated
I never use the punch tool and I rarely use the saw.

I use the fuck out of the paracord cutter, hammer, and bronze scraper though.

Also the charging handle hook doesn't work very well, lent it to a friend to unjam his AR and it didn't help.
>>
>>33996731
the clip is so loose I lost it the first day I had it
>>
>>34002281
Pretty crazy story.
>Truck driver died
How did this happen? Truck rolled down embankment perhaps?
>>33995937
WAVE MASTERRACE! Since 1995.
>>
>>34002812
He died at the scene but I don't really know how. It was always talked about in a sort of sanitized way and I couldn't exactly talk to his family about it.

The truck stayed on the road, but it was one of the old steel bodied ones with a flat nose. Not particularly high like you might be imagining.

How solid are the pliers? The concept is appealing but the 80% of the reason i carry a multitool is the pliers and I'm worried about how they'd hold up with heavy use.
>>
I like the leather man super tool

Heavy as fuck and fairly expensive, but
>replaceable wire cutters
>blades don't have holes in them where they can snap in half
>no stupid ass scissors
>no bit holder for you to either lose or have to carry around a dozen bits for that off chance you need one
>serrated blade and actual saw
>>
>>34004743
How was the discount? I have one kinda nearby and was thinking of checking it out.

Got this as a graduation present, carry it with me wherever. Also have a wave but I don't take it out unless I need it, I work in an office in a nofuns country and people eye me suspiciously when I pull out the boyscout blade, I imagine there would be panic if I reached for the tactical babykiller knife with attached babygroping pliers.
