The jacket in pic related was advertised with pictures of the same guy in your pic, so I'm going to assume it's the same coat.

It's a soft shell that's reasonably well insulating, quite rugged, has plenty of pockets and overall just looks pretty fucking sexy.

However, though it will keep you dry through light-medium showers, it will not keep you 100% dry in heavy showers or just heavy downpours in general.

Good jacket, but by no means perfect.
>>
>>33995307
Also, it's a little short in the body in comparison to the length of the arms and the width of the body.

I haven't bought new clothes since I was in my earlier 20s and I'm now 31. I need to spend my money on new clothes. I have over $100,000 dollars in savings but went to a steakhouse this Monday and looked so poor I think the waitress doubted I was able to pay the bill.

Something about dressing myself seems pompous. My mom did it until I was 17, my ex-wife did it until a year ago. I'm just fashion illeterate.

Wool keeps you warmer than any other easily available fabric. Sometimes too warm, I can't even stand wearing my wool watch cap indoors for more than several minutes.

Wool is better than cotton for warmth, both by weight and concerning water. It loses insulative properties less fast when getting wet. From these perspectives fleece and puffy synthetics are even better though. However, wool does not get smelly as fast and absorbs moisture, which is sometimes considered a good thing ("better climate"). It is also not flammable. I'd use wool as a base layer (merino, unless you've got a skin of steel) or second layer at most.

There are a couple synthetic fabrics that can beat wool in the "warm when wet" game, but they're pretty expensive by comparison; only really worth it if you can't take the scratchiness of wool as a base layer.

This is the problem with a lot of forest camo patterns. Colours which match the environment right up close end up looking like obvious silhouettes at a distance. Breaking up the outline is more important than matching the environment perfectly. ACU cops a lot of ridicule for being a stupid bright yellowy grey colour, but ive seen it work much better next to woodland in the middle of a forest simply because one was an obvious black silhouette and the other was just a slightly lighter area which you arent immediately drawn to

Anyone got a recommendation for a solid colored everyday jacket, primarily for use in a temperate climate? I just need something that I can wear in the spring and fall with some jeans.

Also, if someone has an idea for a longish summer jacket, that'd be rad. It gets fuck humid here in the south and my holster has me melting. If I can shift to OWB, maybe I won't spend more time in the hospital than I usually do.

Well the M65 like op's pic covers your needs by the sound of it. It has a removable liner, just take that out and you have a pretty light weight jacket, foldable hood which can either be zipped up inside the collar or folded down inside the jacket (choice of puffy thick collar or thin collar) I forget the proper name for this, but it has extra folds of fabric behind the arms so they have plenty of movement. Very versatile jacket, the m65 and the german flecktarn parka are the only /k/ approved jackets that i know of.

Its actually not /that/ bad.

Also

actually (quick google search tells you) it reads "do not put into fire". Which is understandable, since that canteen is made of plastic.
