Anyone here use primitive arrows for hunting?
I wanted to go hunting this upcoming hunting season using primitive archery equipment, any advice?
>>
>>33993165
I don't think it's legal in every state.
>>
>>33993175
The only arrow regulation in my state is they must be at least 7/8 inches wide.

Use a gun. They're way more effective than bows and arrows. A barrett XM109 will destroy anything biological. Even grizzly bears. Do you want to see a grizzly bear's head explode? You can, if you use a gun.

No
>>
>>33993522
Whatever. I think I made my point.
>>
>>33993311
can't use a gun in bowhunting season.

Well, despite the whole
>it worked for hundreds of thousands of years
argument, I personally don't think primitive arrows are ethical killing weapons for anything other than survival scenarios. There's no reason to make an animal suffer for longer just for your dickswinging.

That said, making and knowing how to use them is a lot of fun, and I've used them for practice arrows quite a bit. There are just better ways of getting a clean kill, desu.

Yeah, it's called going to the supermarket and buying your ready killed meat. If you're hunting an animal who gives a shit if it "suffers". You're killing it either way.
>>
>>33993618

You know, I care, but go for it. Do whatever you need to do to feel like a big man.

>primitives are also shit at stopping something quickly. Good luck finding it in the brush.
>>
>>33993618

to be fair they really don't sell deer at krogers.
>>
>>33993589
The only real advantage modern arrowheads have over stone arrowheads are durability, if anything an obsidian broad head is likely to cut through more efficiently than a steel one.
>>
>>33993728
yeah most stones have a very high hardness but they are brittle compared to steel
>>
>>33993618
>who gives a shit if it "suffers"
This nigger is going to hav a freezer full of dudes one day, mark my words.
>>
Anyone know a good source of stone tips?
>>
>>33994499
make your own from obsidian or other hard rocks like chert or quartz

Bagging a deer or pig with my own hand built primitive gear is also my eventual goal. But it seems you have to work on the following in order:
- develop good traditional archery fundamentals, and work your way up through the recurve draw weights, from #30 to #50
- have decent *field archery* accuracy at 20 to 30 yards
- work on hunting and stalking skills
- actually kill an animal with a fiberglass recurve
- learn how to make accurate, reliable primitive archery gear: stone points, properly spined bamboo or shoot shafts, and an authentic self bow
- finally kill an animal with this primitive gear, in an "ethical" manner that wont cause the white man to bitch at you and give you shit.
- bonus step: move your man cave out to a wigwam in the backyard, use everything from your kills to furnish it

I'm still just on the first step, myself. Realistically, I'm probably several years away from shooting a stone point at anything.

Do you have any archery experience at all, OP? It's a very worthy goal, but it seems like a long and daunting process.

I have experience with a compound bow but that was about 5 years ago.

I have this old recurve bow that was given to me over a decade ago but i dont know anything about it and i have never seen it strung.
>>
>>33993589
A modern day hunting tip isn't that much more lethal than a primitive one.
>>
>>33993311
I'd call you a faggot were it not for those sweet quadruple dubs. Honestly shocked people aren't witnessing this right now.
