They judge when a barrel is shot out by when it starts keyholing. But it's a short indoor range so the barrel may have lost a ton of accuracy/bullet stability before it started visibly keyholing at short range. Not really a perfect indicator of how long a barrel will last. But good data nonetheless.

Just got a VEPR 12 and it's nothing short of amazing. The plastic grips and such are nice, but I'm interested in making a wood set for fun and to have options. The VEPR 12 takes RPK furniture pretty easily from what I've heard, but what would I have to change on other sets (like AKM stuff) to get it to adapt? Specifically the stock.

The only way to put a standard stock would be to replace the rear trunnion.
Cut the weld, and forget about changing the stock.
Handguards are easy enough, I have wood on my Vepr12.
RPK handguards will fit, but they'll have to be modified slightly to work.
(The rear tang that slots into the receiver is taller on RPK handguards than on Vepr 12s)

Evidently these are the exact barrels that were for the 104URs, which explains why they only have three barrel numbers. So basically the exact barrel that is in my 104UR. Probably the 1:7 twist.

There were russian lowers for sale on gun broker so i got one. Then trolled around for a russian upper, found one sawed not torched.

I spent way way more than I would have on a Polish kit, but I avoided having to get an aftermarket barrel (it has an original Soviet barrel), its OG Russian, and I only have a simple reweld vs some of those torch cut nightmares.

Even the trunnion has some cool markings which was nice. I also got a drum mag with the lower, I think its a Molot but I dont have pics.

Its not the most accurate or high tech of the ww2 weapons, but I love their look, they're very distinctive and iconic, and they kind of share the same beauty of simplicity that the AK has.

Plus its different. Everyone around me has a Garand or a Mosin. Nobody has one of these that Ive seen.
