I already have a PTR, why do I want one of these so badly?

Aesthetic firearm. Is it any good though?

They look and feel cool.
Unfortunately they are shit, I hated mine.

Lots of jams or something?

Bad quality control. You're gonna need a little more spending on polishing her

Did you get it to work reliably anon? What specifically was wrong?

Yes.

What about the V93 from Vector?

If you want a 223, get an AR. I know it's trite, but it is what it is.

I have one already, a rifle length AR with triangular handguards, I like it way more than I thought I would. Looks like pic-related.
>>
>>33990076
>poor reliability
>surprisingly poor accuracy
>did not jive with cheek bones
>mags $60 per
>terribad trigger worse than mosin
>frequent malfunctions would absolutely mangle the full shell so it could not be fired later
And for some reason I have trouble understanding, reliability was next to zero when one friend shot it. Literally I could be shooting it with minimal problems then hand it over to him and he would have 3 types of malfunctions several times each in one 40rd mag.
>>
>>33990287

While I think that's butt-ugly, I'd imagine it's very practical and comfortable.
>>
I really wanted one too. Especially because I have a PTR and wanted it to have a little brother.

It was shit.

I could not get it to fire more than a few rounds before failing. I thought I could get one and work out any kinks. FTF, FTE all day.
>>
>>33990287
Oh God, don't post that in /arg/, the collective Autistic reaction would be visible from space
>>
>>33990076
Usually they have bolt gap issues. A few have popped up with weld problems on the receiver/sights. It's a century build so it's always luck of the draw. Also sucks because they've gone up $200 from when they first showed and it's hard to justify spending so much on a century build that an AR fills a cheaper niche. I ended up doing a PTR32 and am loving that.
>>
>>33990452
Mine has a carry handle, but yeah, I like it. I'm not an AR guy, so color me impressed.
>>33990490
Damn it, that is not what I wanted to hear, what did you do? Why the FTE and FTF do you think?
>>
>>33990511
>the collective Autistic reaction would be visible from space
Why do you think that would dissuade me dubsman?
>>
>>33990181
Old Vector builds are generally very solid.
>>
>>33990287
I love it, no joke.
>>
>>33990287
Looks comfy.

>>33990529
Nice, is it a fixed carry handle or a detachable one?

>>33990490
I really want PTR to make a 5.56mm rifle, make it take AR mags and they could easily snatch a pie of the Modern Sporting Rifle market.
>>
>>33990023
Just pick up a Brethren Arms when they come back in stock.
>>
>>33990036
My friend's double feeds occasionally and chews the brass to hell when it does
>>
>>33990511
Fuck /arg/, they shouldn't even be a thing.

>>33990529
>I like it. I'm not an AR guy, so color me impressed.
Yeah, the AR15 is actually a really good rifle, and by keeping it simple with plastic furniture instead of heavy quadrails with lots of attachments, you can get a very fantastic and handy rifle that isn't too heavy.
>>
>>33990771

>Fuck /arg/, they shouldn't even be a thing.

False. They need to be quarantined. /k/ is bad enough already.
>>
>>33990808
They shouldn't even be quarantined, they should be banned and removed if they're a problem.

There shouldn't be a fucking general for the AR15, there shouldn't be a fucking general for the AK, and there shouldn't be a fucking general for battle rifles.

Damn, those mags are like $80-$100 a pop, and there's 3 of them instead of 1? That's a pretty good deal honestly.

>>

That actually looks pretty good, even has the top-rail welded on top for practical optics mounting.

Does it come with a port buffer?
>>
>>33990856
>Does it come with a port buffer?
Doesn't look like it, but they say that they can do special stuff if you ask. Not a bad deal either, the anon that posted about it did good. I might actually check this out.
>>
>>33990721
What about new ones?
>>
>>33991106
New ones seem a bit more sketchy.

Vector Arms used to be really famed for their Uzi builds, quality stampings with heat treated steel, very robust stuff (stronger than original Israeli military guns), however they went out of business and reformed under someone else (the previous owner's son I think), and it seems quality took a dive, people waited long times for heat treated Uzi receivers, and what they got was receivers with incorrect dimensions because the heat treating was done wrong, with the company pretending like nothing.

If you can find an old one at a good price, go for it, but if it's a new one, I'd examine it carefully, run the action, maybe even cycle a few 5.56x45mm snapcaps through it. I actually don't even know if the company is still doing HK93 builds so there might not even be any new ones.
>>
>>33990109
this for sure.
>>
>>33990822
We could have 3 general threads about mil meme rifles, or we could have 15 threads about mil meme rifles.
>>
>>33991762
How about threads just happen naturally instead of having a general about something that doesn't need to be a general?
>>
>>33990529
It was built by retards. That's why it has problems. Here's the deal with Century: stuff they make is usually shitty, stuff they contract out is as good as the contractor, stuff they import is generally pretty good.

I was in your shoes and really wanted it to work. I tried everything I could think of with no luck. I ended up swapping the bayonet lug for my PTR one and traded it for a West German p226.
>>
>>33991878
>instead of having a general about something that doesn't need to be a general?
because interesting threads will be killed by having 6 AR threads, 4 AK threads and 2-3 CETME ones
>>
>>33990287
fuck that is attractive as hell.
>>
>>33990745
>Nice, is it a fixed carry handle or a detachable one?
I built it on a budget and really as an afterthought, so it's a flat-top that I stuck a cheap detachable carry handle on. I'm quite pleased with it.

>>
>>33992529
A concrete example of this is that the RAS47 is made by Century, and it's the worst AK ever in serialized production, while the WASR-10 that is currently being imported, isn't made by Century, rather they just import it, fix the magwell for normal magazines and then swap some parts for 922r.

They used to be fucking atrocious at fixing the magwells, thankfully they learned over time.

You got a lemon, or you were lazy and didn't experiment. Either way you're a faggot or cursed. I hoarded the best mil spec and hot brass cased ammo because I read these bitches are picky and you know what, I almost cried when it turned into a goddamn bolt action.

I had just got some tula 62grain from palmetto. 8$ for 40 rds fuck it.

Bitch ran like a top.

A raped ape I say.

Any of you faggots remember the 5.56 golden tiger hard primer deal?

I bought a bit, got my ar the $15 upgrade that'll let it shoot any shit ammo now. Works great.

Well my c93, this bitch loves that shit. I should have bought more than 2,000 rounds.

OP, the vectors suck as bad, check the hk forum. You'll pay an extra $500 for a damn paddle release and nothing else.

I got mine for cheap and figured if it was fucked I could send it to ghilliebear and after paying him still feel like I won out but I didnt even have to.

Get learned on this rifle son, go to an autoparts store buy a $5 set of feeler gauges and pray as you order.

What I thought would be an expensive rifle to shoot ended up loving the cheapest ammo.

You're probably too poor to buy good mags for it though, $60 to $80 bucks a pop unless you go promag which, don't.

>>

Century are known for putting out quite a lot of lemons when it comes to things they manufacture on their own.

I trust their imports, like Serbian AKs, but their own builds are poor quality at best.

I am seriously considering selling some of the surplus I don't shoot anymore to get one of these.
>>
>>33997592
93's have a different receiver and the tooling wouldn't be anywhere near as reusabled. The PTR32 is essentially just the same as their G3 line, but with changes in the magwell and some bolt rework. Once they had that figured out they don't have to redo receiver work or anything around that.

Thanks, I'm really surprised that it's made such a stir, I'm not at home right now(with my wife at the hospital for our son's delivery) but when I get home I'll take a pic of my actual rig. They do make mid-length versions of the triangular handguards, but I can't google them for you since the hospital wifi blocks all gun websites, lol.

>>
>>33997398
Dope, can you fit a wide handguard on her? How does it work if you use croat bho mags? Sorry for all the questions.
>>
>>33999268
You can fit any G3 furniture onto her. Some of the original runs had a weirder barrel length and I think they had furniture probs. I've actually be looking at doing a wide handguard on her. Gonna put a collapsible stock on her I think and a foregrip to mimic my MP5. I was gonna try to test some of the Croat BHO, but I've read online they aren't really bueno. She has some issues with one version of Promags I have but the one she shipped with (Promag MOE I think?) works great. I absolutely loved the gun the first time I saw and have been hunting one for awhile. The idea is just so neat and AKs are just meh to me. Downside is when I first saw them they were $800 new so I held off and then in the next 3 months they went up $300-400 starting. It also stinks that they are so unique because it's hard to feel one up and try her in the store.

Its not a bad rifle
They were built by century/century contractors off HK made Malaysian contract parts kits. Iirc the FCG, Barrel, bolt, receiver and furniture are all stateside made for 922r.

The mags cost a shitload and are subject to drying up due to the relative rarity of the rifle compared to other HK 90 series platforms.

The gun is soft shooting due to the overbuilt nature of it and is very controllable out of the box. You can add on a HK94 collapsible stock made by ATI if you want.

The bad news:
>century so your bolt gap may be out of spec
>century so you may have to rebuild the firearm
>no paddle

I got lucky, mine works fine out of the box with brass/steel
