So
I'm in a bit of a conundrum.
For my first AR, im building a retro style M16A1 and I've found all the parts for it online (https://pastebin.com/BaQA7U1V).
It totals to about ~$1400, not including shipping, ammo, etc.
But I've now found a full repro going for about the same price.
http://www.txmgo.com/index.php/shop/guns/product/101-semi-auto-m16a1-replica
Should I go ahead and build my own anyways, or eliminate any room for error and just buy the repro? Are there any pros and cons to either one?
>>
>>33988752
$1400 for a home build... Even with the guchiest of parts that still sounds excessive.
>>
>>33988769
That's why I'm thinking about buying the repro
>>
>>33988752
>paste bin

You already had your thread where you got a shit ton of replies. Why do you need another about the same shit?
>>
>>33988915
Because that thread died ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>>
if you don't DIY then you will learning nothing and have less to show for it in the end.

Let's face it. You are browsing /k/ so you should have all the time in the world to build DIY AR.
>>
>>33988945
Money is still an issue. I can pay for this, but I don't want to spend more than I have to. Which is what I'd be doing if I built it, factoring in all the shipping costs, FFL, etc. And without a free sling, case, and 20 round mag.
I do want to learn how to build an AR, but I feel as if I can do that for much cheaper than this, and without it being a retro.
I just see the repro option as a quicker, better, cheaper and more practical option.
>>
>>33988752
I did both. Bought the upper and built the lower although I have a few more components to add to complete my clone.
>>
>>33988769
>every AR should be 500 dollars.
>>
>>33989037
There's still a big difference between 500 and 1400 tho dipshit.

>OP makes a second thread after his first one gets a fuckton of replies and links
>acts like a faggot with a shitty attitude

I was one of the people that helped you out before you even made your own thread. Go fuck yourself retard.

>Looked at all links, made a build
>Read all replies
>Find a repro online for the same price as build
>Uh oh thread died, I'll just make another
Don't want to help, just don't reply
>>
>>33988752

Then build a normal fucking AR and then sell it to but the retro AR. There is an oversupply of AR right now so it makes no fucking sense to build an ar with substandard parts & no warranty.

Or just stop being a queer fucker, & get a sport II, 6920.

Always wondered why the flash hider was so fuckyuge though
>>
>>33989346
I believe there are some baffles that add some reduction in sound. Don't quote me on this.
>>
>>33989137
>abortion
Looks pretty sexy to me.

I'd fuck it
>>
>>33989137
I'm thinking about doing a semi-cheap retro AR build soon. I think yours could benefit from an A1 stock and pistol grip. Also you should have went with a lower that had no safe and fire markings on the right side.

still looks breddy okay though.
>>
>>33989355
As far as I know it was to enhance reliability, as far as cycling goes and also kind of as a side benefit it reduces sound a few decibels.
Think kind of like the flash hider on the AKS-74U

Are you attracted to girls with downs?

Yeah it actually worked not necessarily as a silencer but like a muffler

>>
>>33988752
your list has 80% lowers and jigs, have you factored in the price of buying tools if you don't currently own/have access to a drill press or mill? have you built a lower from 80% before? can you make sure that you won't cock it up or go outside of milspec?
just buy the repro and save yourself the time
>>
>>33988752

$1400? Goddamn I'm glad I bit the metaphorical bullet and snatched an A1 kit a couple years ago when they were 500 bucks.
>>
>>33989137

At least put a passable grip on there
>>
>>33989137

How do you like the upper? does it shoot well?
>>
>>33993146
I have easy access to a drill press and a milling machine. But I've never built an %800 before, and I don't exactly trust myself to not bork the thing. I'm leaning towards buying the repro, because that'll cost at MAX around $1425 for me, whereas the build can exceed $1525 after shipping, anodizing, FFL, etc.
>>
>>33989019
>but I feel as if I can do that for much cheaper than this, and without it being a retro.

>I just see the repro option as a quicker, better, cheaper and more practical option.

You're contradicting yourself fool, yes you can build an ar for cheap if its not a retro build.

No you fucking dumbass a reproduction/retro build is exactly the opposite of quicker, better, cheaper, and more practical.

Literally what the goddamn fuck.

Just buy an a1 or an sp1 used you idiot.
>>
>>33991570
Fool with what you described more than half the rifle is wrong, how the fuck is it good then. The only right thing is hey it's got a carry handle, 20" barrel and its triangular in the front yay. Dumbass.
>>
>>33993147
Schmuck, two years ago they were $350.00 with a barrel. Fag.
>>
>>33988752
You do not live in a Vacuum young man - you are seen and percieved by others.
>>
>>33994398
I mean if he just gets the furniture which can be had for like less than $50 it'll look fine methinks.
