Will the nugget fad end when the cheap milsurp dries up?
>>
>>33980032
I think the nugget fad has been over for a couple years now
>>
>>33980032

Considering that Nuggets are over $200 I'm pretty sure that's over already.
>>
>>33980377
This. Old meme is old.
>>
>>33980032
Yes and thank God for that. A barrier to entry is what milsurp has needed for decades.
>>
>>33980406

There's still Turkish Mausers.
>>
>>33980406
To keep idiots from going bubba on the guns? Or do you just wanna feel elite?

>Bought a nugget back in late 2014 from cabellas for $140
>Bought a spam can for $100
>both of these prices have doubled in less than 3 years
>>
>>33980427
The former. The latter is just a by-product and honestly I'd just use some other justification if I had to.
>>
>>33980444

I have a box of .22 that I paid $13 for, they're going for $40 now.
>>
>>33980032
they're fun, affordable and dependable
they get a new shooters flinch out thats for sure
>>
>>33980445
I can respect that, it's so damn hard to find an SKS in my area that doesn't have a crapco stock on it, I don't think this would've happened had the guns never been under 100 bucks in the early 2000's.

I have a thousand rounds of .22 that I bought for 7c/rd

I buy it every time I can find it at that price
>>
It has, it did, and what >>33980406 said.
>>
>>33980406
Bubbas spent the last 60 years chopping milsurps up, and we're going to spend the next 60 years putting them back the way they were to begin with.
>>
>>33980032
<20c/r 54r drying up has FAR more to do with mosins fading away than mosin prices going up 2-3x
>>
>>33980790
If I ever hit the lottery that's how I'm going to spend a good portion of the winnings; restoring old milsurp rifles and pistols.
>>
>>33980900
>not investing every last drop of it and living off interest for the rest of your life with a modest income
>not securing the future of your bloodline
>nuh but dude I want guns now
>>
>>33980032
The nugget fad was over nearly a decade ago, the only people who perpetuate it are newfags. Same with the SKS, unless you're a leaf then a decent SKS will likely cost most of what a new rifle will cost. If there's any positive to this I suppose it's that all of the "bubbas can't hurt the supply we'll have cheap milsurp forever" people finally STFU.
>>
>>33980424
And Spanish mausers
>>
>>33980900
Except you'd be a dumbass to play the lottery to begin with. The Lottery is retard tax.

If you're going to gamble play Blackjack like a man. Or maybe some Texas Hold em.
>>
>>33980952
I'm a burger that just wanted a Russian numbers matching sks for the hell of it, theyre also fun to shoot.
Not every gun must be bought for min maxing my dude.
>>
>>33980980
Oh no, my $4 is gone forever. So much I could do with that $4. Woe unto me, for I have spent $4!
>>33980944
>Implying my wife or I want children
No thank you, we much prefer having disposable income and freedom.
>Investing
Yeah sure, $20,000,000 out of $87,000,000 (current take home of Powerball lump sum after taxes). That still leaves $67,000,000 to blow. That's why I said portion. As in, not the entirety. Less than the total. Some, not all.
>>
>>33981101
Ok. I could wipe my ass with $4 too it's not going to make or break me either. Still doesn't mean it's a smart decision. Fellow Devil Dog. Yeah I know your trip, we've talked before.
>>
>>33981033
>Not every gun must be bought for min maxing my dude.

True, but that's pretty much the driving force behind poorfags getting into milsurp.
>>
>>33981140
It is such a trivial risk as to be utterly forgotten about, with the potential reward (however small that potential is) of hundreds of millions of dollars. Using it as method of subsidizing ones income or hopes of retirement are indeed foolish. Spending some pocket change every couple of months (I only play when the jackpot is over $100,000,000)? I've lost more money in my couch than I have playing the lottery. And that doesn't count the times I've "won".

>$87,000,000
Let's make some assumptions
>87,000,000 x .01 = 870,000
If you invested that money with an annual return of just 1%, you could have a salary just shy of a million dollars per year.

The problem with lotto winners is that they're terrible with money and end up wasting it on fancy cars, mansions, hookers and blow instead of having a stable income for the rest of their lives.

Let's say you only invest $20,000,000 of it, then you're only bringing home $200,000/yr which is pretty pathetic in the area I'm assuming you live in now that you've blown $67,000,000
>>
>>33981175
i don't know if that thing with squiggle speak is edible but it looks fucking delicious

i hope its cinnamon
>>
>>33981101
You need to die and you know it.
>>
>>33981186
>1% returns
That's the most terrible "investment" around since it doesn't even beat inflation. My money market does better than that. My 401K does better than that, even without my company match. Every single ETF I've ever seen beats that. So your assumption is flawed from the get go, in a major way.

But let's assume for a second that, in the 1-200+ million chance that I did win it all and only got 1% ROI. 200k a year without any debt? That's very, very comfortable. That's enough to quietly live out my days on whatever plot of land in the middle of nowhere I get for the next 40-60 years.
>>
>>33981165
If that's your thing, go for it. My grandma actually hit the lottery. It was one of those deals where she was 1 number off so didn't get the big pay out but still a couple hundred thousand.

When I gamble I always want to win. Blackjack statistically has the best odds of Casino games. The house always wins but in blackjack it's 51/49. Then the other best option is Holdem. Then you're playing other people, the house just collects bids.

To each their own, but I myself do not play the lottery.
>>
>>33981193
Tulsky pryaniki.

That's kind of my point

Have fun being poor in 3-5 years just like every other lottery winner.

>>33981269
Craps actually has the best odds IIRC
>>33981257
Hey why don't you just go ahead and throw down that 67,000,000 on a single hand of cards
>>
>>33981269
I don't gamble otherwise, except the occasional card game between friends. And in that instances I consider it paying to have fun, only sometimes I end up not paying. But again, a couple bucks every couple months while I'm getting gas? Fuck it, I've wasted more for less.
>>
>>33981303
>That's kind of my point
How is it your point when you suggested it in the first place? Are you saying that $20,000,000 isn't enough to live comfortably on? Is that your "point"?
>>
>>33980032
the nugget fad really ended after SH back in '12 when gun stores were selling literally everything for 3x the price, nuggets included. The days of $70 nuggets is long and gone.
>>
>>33980032
Nuggets are already over. Nuggets run 200+ because "muh cheap rifle" memes.

Prepare for mausers to be the next nugget; they can be had for cheap because there's less demand right now.
>>
>>33981303
I never played it. The game is called "craps" after all.

Card games require a certain amount of skill. Rolling dice... Might as well play Paper Rock Scissors.
>>
>>33981329
It's your money, do whatever you want

>>33981382
>not following the "rules" of blackjack
Poker is the only game that takes skill, blackjack is just betting following a predetermined set of rules that give you the best outcome
>>
>>33981399
It's imaginary money in the first place. But no please, do give me some sound financial advice. Tell me how $20,000,000 , invested in any form, isn't enough to live on. What should I stick it in instead?
>>
>>33980406
Kek
Also I love the real estate market
>>
>>33981414
You can "live" on $10,000/yr

You have the theoretical possibility to live on more than that. Much more.
>>
>>33980032
Yep. Look at what happened to SKSs. They used to be THE /k/ meme gun. Ever since they've gone up in price we see less and less of them. Nuggets took over after that and now even they're going out of fashion in a hurry.
>>
>>33981414
>What should I stick it in instead?

I'm supposed to have a joke about how you should stick it in a woman. I don't have one at the ready. You see how you chose funny words though right?
>>
>>33980444
>tfw wanted my father to buy me a mosin when they were still a 100 bucks
>he thought it would be too much power for me and got me a 22 instead
If only I could have convinced him otherwise.
>>
>>33980747
There's Aguila .22 going on ammoseek for 4 cents a round.
>>
>>33981461
Yes, though I would have went with some joke about sticking it in my own ass, since I'm being a prick.

I'm bored and at work, I have nothing better to do besides some make shift exercises and shitpost.
>Try doing your job
Na, then they'd expect me to do it all the time.
>>
As much as I love my 'surps, it really is true at this point that there's no reason to buy one except if you're a collector. The days of buying one just because you want a cheap shooter are gone and aren't ever coming back- both because the rifles themselves have gotten expensive, and because the old supplies of cheap surplus ammunition have dried up, which will leave you paying a dollar a round or more to Prvi Partizan or Sellier & Bellott. If a decent-quality basic rifle is what you want, just wait for a sale and buy a Savage Axis II or a Ruger American Rifle. Even if it is a few bucks more expensive than a Mosin or Spanish Mauser right now, by the time you've put a couple hundred rounds through it, you'll have saved money by buying mass-produced .308 cheap instead of unusual calibers (and yes, even 54r is "unusual" compared to a popular hunting caliber) at higher prices.

Nowadays, milsurps are antiques that are of interest to collectors, which is as it should be.
>>
>>33981659
Looking forward to the day that new production non corrosive 54r is cheaper than spam cans
>>
>>33980952
I'm a leaf and can confirm this. A nugget is $200, crazy money , but there are lots of early 50's Russian made SKSs available for under $300. $239 to $259 is the norm for now.
