We'll have 3 gun in the olympic when we get sepak takraw in there as well.

they'd have to beat japan first
>>
Every shooting event but the winter biathlon is in danger of being removed. The IOC thinks they aren't worth it with their low ticket sales and tv ratings. Not to mention that those liberal shitheads are probably antis. One of the things demonstrated at the Sochi Olympics was a laser pistol. Which would replace all the firearms and air guns in summer events. Just pull the trigger and let the laser register a hit.

The UK almost had no pistol shooting events for the London summer.games. since pistols are banned for civilians outside northern ireland. The parliament had to pass a special law to allow for Olympic pistols.

Many decades ago. They used to have range shooting with 6.5mm centerfire rifles. Finns and soviets competes with converted nuggets.

Japan has literally negative gun owner community. Some old men with hunting licensed which aren't even issued anymore.

I will NEVER see it going beyond its target audience: American mallninjas who think their AR will do dick all to the Feds with access to everyones secrets and unlimited surveillance capabilities

NOTE: I am NOT trashing the 2nd Amendment in principle, just that tryhard 3%ers have already lost, and that it will take a helluva lot more than 3% to even scratch the govt. A unified people is required.

Didnt mean to get political, I just dont see 3 gun being appealing to non-Americans, other than the Czechs and MAYBE the Spurdos
>>
>>33975913
That may be the internet experience, but at the three gun matches I was at half of the people are try hard's. While the rest of us want to get better handling of the guns and test our skills.
I do agree that it is a fringe market. Most people don't want to try and do stuff.
>>
>>33975913
There are only a million law enforcement officials in the usa. 2 million military counting the part timers.

Pog vets with Mall ninja rifles have shot multiple cops before falling.
>>
>>33975480
Nope.

Euro cucks have a hard enough time with IPSC, let alone rocking a long gun and a shottie.
>>
>>33975913
To add to this, the entire concept of Practical Shooting competitions have emerged from American gun culture; something no where else in the world has, except MAYBE Czechia or Switzerland.

3 gun is fun af, but its kind of an Americans only thing. Like shit porn for the Germans or molesting jailbait on trains for the Nips, its something that requires a unique cultural setting to be appealing.
>>
>>33975480
No. I have shot olympic style rifle and it is the most cucked style of shooting. It's hard getting a .22 anschutz lazer into London for an internationally sanctioned competition, but a baby killing minority offending AR? Never.
>>
>>33975937
>While the rest of us want to get better handling of the guns and test our skills.
This. 3-gun is a game, not a simulation. It's no more "tactical" (insofar it would prepare you for combat) than olympic fencing is "martial."
>>
>>33975940
While this is true, you have to remember the full brunt of the US govt hasnt been brought to bear. Wed definitely fuck up the authorities, but theyd go full Soviet mode with conscripted city cucks brainwashed on statist propaganda. The country is simply too divided right now to form the militia as recognized under the 2nd. The militia being a united citizenry fighting for the common man, not bubba using his military handouts to do drills with his beer buddies on the weekends.
>>
>>33975982
Yup, I learned more about tactics from paintballing then all of the competition shooting I have done.
>>
>>33976000
Clinton and Reno vilified militias. Used to be a thing to do. When Soviet invasion was looking
>>
>>33976008
Because paintball shoots back.
>>
>>33975962
Well we used to have have people that favroured a somewhat similar more practical/active style of shooting here in Britain, back in the days before OMG GUNS R EVIL. From what I loosely recall it involved firing from various positions and from diferent ranges, with the advances between firing positions being part of the drill.. I guess perhaps the best way would be to compare it to early basic rifle infantry training drills, ie X rounds from 600 yards, advance then X rounds from 500, advance again and X rounds from 300, not the same as US 3 gun courses but still rather more active than sitting with a nice cup of tea plinking at the same range all day never moving further than to the biccy tin.

Goddamn, North Korea knows what it's doing when it comes to sports. It's a shame that fascism can't ever be a positive reality since it's predicated on the belief that the dictator is benevolent and incorruptible, whereas no human is incorruptible. Maybe we could develop a learning AI (ensuring that its goal would be to do what's best for the population, with some limitations provided so that it cannot go off and randomly execute people or decide to contaminate subway systems with hemorrhagic fever) and allow it to develop intelligence beyond anything humanity can ever possibly attain. A superintelligent, truly incorruptible dictator that truly has the foresight and wisdom to know what is best for us... I'd like to live in a society where everything is decided for me by a computer that truly knows what is best for me, where national pride is real and the population as a whole trusts the superintelligence that guides them like a wise mother.
>>
>>33976078
Fascism usually doesn't predicate itself on a perfect leader; well I mean it sort of does, but most forms of fascism usually seem to focus on a "last resort" style in that any form of strong authoritarian style government is better than democratic corruption, and a willingness of the people of the nation to submit under that authority.

North Korea would be more of a standard dictatorship at this point, depends on how much the people of North Korea actually believe in their leader anymore.
>>
>>33975890
>3:00
You're pretty good

Japan may not have a gun culture, but what they have is good enough.
>>
>>33976106
I didn't mean to conflate Juche and fascism. Fascism and other authoritarian right wing ideologies at least have thinking behind them. Juche is a meaningless concept that cannot be summarized, even by North Korean officials, because it truly is nothing. It's a thin cover to justify the actions of and hide the atrocities of their government. North Korea is neither fascist nor communist, just a totalitarian state ruled by a manchild who always gets his way. It's honestly closer to a shitty warlord's impoverished, starving fiefdom in the central Congo than to anything else. I just wish we could live in a strong authoritarian state run by an entity lacking in desires that could corrupt it, an entity so intelligent and calculating that it knows what is truly best for the population and the individual. For instance, it could force you to try out a new sport you've never played or switch your college major to something you wouldn't have considered. You may protest at first, but will soon realize that it was the best decision for your happiness and overall wellbeing. Human leaders are not intelligent enough to be able to reliably predict anything this way or on this scale, and are corruptible as a result of their bodily desires and the greed that has poisoned the minds of all humans since the dawn of time. AI systems are learning fast now, and experts are predicting exponential advances from here on out, both in terms of how much the AI will learn and how equipped we will be to supply the proper hardware to said superintelligent AI. The future is bright. But this is /pol/, not /k/. Hopefully 3-gun will become an Olympic sport. It's pretty cool.

>>

We will see ban of guns in the Olympics and replacement of them with laser pointers.
>>
>>33975962
Switzerland has some IPSC/IDPA clubs - joining them is rather difficult and fairly costly (even by Swiss standards). The main problem is the small size of the country and the high population density limiting the use of outdoor ranges. For this reason we will most likely never have 3-guns competitions in Switzerland.
>>
I doubt 3gun would ever get into the Olympics, but what would you guys think of "service weapon" classes for the more traditional shooting sports?

I think a National Match-style rifle event would suit the Olympics decently and the guns involved are obtainable in most countries. It's not as exciting as 3gun, but I'd much rather watch long range boltgun shooting with real guns than short-range .22 plinking with competition specials. Biathlon with WWII-era rifles would be fucking awesome, too.

>Will we ever see 3-Gun in the Olympics?

No. The IOC has been pushing back against pretty much all combat sports. They tried to get rid of wrestling a few years ago and have pushed TKD and Judo to change drastically in the last few years. And many of the countries that have Olympic teams don't allow private ownership of guns so you have a situation in which a national target shooting or biathlon team that participates in the Olympics has to travel out of their own country to practice.

>>

That's pretty much exactly how they describe the militias in the Federalist Papers though. Remember that the idea was that the US wasn't supposed to have a standing army, and the real point of the militias was to assert federal dominance over states, which were much more independent in those days, and to put down rebellions, maintain civil order, and of course contribute to the national defense.

>>
>>33977993
>Something like pic related is in no way practical outside competition.

Why?
>>
>>33978316
Pretty much all of it is dedicated to going fast. Light power loads and muzzle brakes for reduced recoil for faster follow up shots. Red dot for faster acquisition/reacquisition of the sights(this is becoming a practical thing too with the smaller more robust sights like deltapoints and RMRs on service pistols). Gigantor mag well funnels to make fucking up a reload all but impossible. bolt handle on the slide to make racking it easier to do. on the left there's probably a polymer or aluminum step-like projection on the frame called a gas pedal for pressing your support thumb down on for greater control. Race guns are kind of like F1 cars. Bespoke guns designed specifically to go as fast as possible in their specific arena.
>>
>>33978382
basically, race guns sacrifice reliability and adaptability in order to be very good in a specific setup. You can take any off the shelf service pistol and have both reliability and serviceable accuracy with pretty much any non-shit ammo. A race gun is generally going to be tuned to a specific load and bullet weight and will only function reliably with that specific load.
>>
>>33978316
Enlarged magwell guides the magazine into the gun, makes reloads quicker, smoother and less likely to fuck up.

Stippled grip so it's more stable and easier to keep in place.

Handle on the slide to make racking the slide easier and faster.

Slide lightening cuts.

Feather weight trigger so it ca be pulled faster and easier.

Red dot mount, red dot sight for faster target acquisition.

Compensator at the end of the barrel that redirects propellant gases, countering recoil and making follow-up shots easier/faster.

Generally a ton of stuff that makes the gun much easier and faster to shoot within the rules of competition, but also quite bulky and delicate. Not unreliable because you can't afford a malfunction where every fraction of a second counts, but I wouldn't want to drop it.

>>33978382
Because as I said before it sacrifices almost all of its sturdiness and compactness for more speed. Race guns are also build with a single specific light power load in mind so it's very likely they will not cycle properly with any other kind of ammo.

It's would be like trying to drive a race car off-road.
>>
>>33978386
>a polymer or aluminum step-like projection on the frame called a gas pedal

That's an extended safety lever, "gas-pedal" grip panels are on the other side.

Yeah, and everyone, especially the pros, shoot open, limited, or production and ignore the tactical divisions like heavy metal or trooper.

In Norway we do not have it because the police said no to practical shooting with shotguns..

>if you think Olympic shooting events can't be military themed, or wouldn't appeal to Euros then you don't know the history of the biathlon

three different answers to that...

>The majority of people don't
>The ones who do, does not care
>The tiny minority who actually cares only does so because of "that's how it was like in the old days son" and the interest stops there

Look over to the computer gaming community..
Those guys have always been looked at like giant nerds, and people saw gamers as autistic shut-ins..

Now they have their own TV channels dedicated to gaming, streaming "dem sick plays" is a huge thing and some gamers actually have managers..

If someone 10 years ago had told me that gamers would have their own television channels while earning more money then most people their own age i would laugh at them..

People need to do the same thing with the gun community.
Get rid of the Fudd-image and doomsday preppers people and get that shit on TV.

Holy fuck, IF 3-gun (Or even IPSC) made it to the olympics one day, the gun community would be the largest community in most European countries within a decade.
