what's the best handgun caliber for self defense?
The one you have with you.
>>33972826
Whatever you're most comfortable shooting.
>>33972826
The one the enemy has inside of them.

Honestly good answers
>>33972905
no they are all bad
>>33972913
y-you too
The cheapest standard pistol round - since they all perform pretty much the same.
More training for the same price
So basically 9mm
>>33972826
According to the FBI the only thing that matters is number of shots you can put on target
so 9mm
>>33972826
>insert meme round here
>>33972826
Anything hot loaded. 9mm hollow points +P a sight to see. .45 ACP hot loaded will break bone and flesh alike. 10mm is absolutely devastating hotloaded, no less by itself.
For shit like .22 LR, get it in a rifle with decent capacity.
>>33972826
>anything less than 120mm anti-personnel.
It's like you don't want good effect on target.
>>33972826
9mm/.40/.45/10mm in autoloaders.
.38spc+P or .357mag or .327mag in revolvers.
.45-70 in single-shots.
>>33972826
.357 Magnum out of a 4" barrel or longer.
.50AE
Don't actually do this though, not because Deagles are unreliable or anything but because if you shoot it indoors you'll probably perforate your eardrum. Especially if you get the muzzle brake variant.
>>33972826
but muh .45 auto penetrates water deeper and kills the turtles better
independent youtube testing has shown .45 auto can penetrate a solid 20 inches of water and still hit with some authority
>>33973305
source
>>33972826
Literally anything not obviously retarded like 22lr. Just aim at center mass, or the head if you fancy yourself a good shot. Shot placement is king, penetration is queen, everything else is jokers.
>>33972826
.40
25 ACP
5
A
C
P
>>33972826
5.7
>>33972826
7mm T/CU.
Because nothing says FUCK YO SHIT like a 139gr bonded softpoint moving at 2700fps while having recoil similar to bearfucker .357mag.
>>33972826
9mm to carry. Size matters and smaller is better.
.45acp for home defense but there are better options than a pistol IMO even for apartments
Either one, so long as you use FMJ.
>>33972826
.40
just as many rounds as 9mm
strong as .45
>>33974177
>>33974177
"This guy" is here
>>33974177
10mm to say fuck you
.45 is fantastic for suppressed guns. Get an FNX-45 tactical like the fag you are for home defense.
9mm for CC, but ONLY if you get a double-stack. Single-stack you may as well get .45 or 10mm.
38 specials anon. End of story.
>>33972826
40 S&W or 357 SIG is the real answer, because that's what you're trying to do with a +P 9mm anyway.
>>33974784
revolvers suck
>>33973305
Where the youtube video links?
How do you expect to defend yourself with 9mm when even this doesn't stop a hog.

>>33972971
The FBI has changed handgun calibers 8 times in the last 100 years.
>>33972826
.45 if you live in a state with magazine restrictions
9mm anywhere else
>>33973893
Troll obvious, but does anyone still use .25 auto? The only guns I've seen chambered for it are 80s ghetto drop guns.
>primary-9mm or .38 special, both will effectively kill shit dead in a small controllable package
>backup-.32 ACP is far superior to .25 ACP or .380.
>>33978068
In tiny guns, like the Seecamp.
>>33978109
Why is 32 better than 380?
>>33972826
The one that allows you to most accurately fire rounds on a human-sized target as quickly as possible.
124gr +P hollowpoint 9mm is probably the most ideal pistol cartridge for self defense.
Even if you're a great shooter with .45 ACP, you're going to fire quicker and more accurately with 9mm.
Plus you'll have a larger magazine.
>>33974887
This. Hard barrier penetration is a thing to think about and these will both go through windshields, bone, and other barriers better than 9mm.
>>33978131
Hollow points don't work, FMJ sucks. .32 has way less recoil and is in smaller guns.
>>33978135
I've read 147gr 9mm is best for defense for being subsonic and being less likely to penetrate if the shot misses.
>>33978131
Because pic related
>>33978197
But the slide safety
>>33978194
That may be true, but you'll never go wrong with either of them.
>>33978197
PP7 is better than PPK
>>33978068
The Beretta Bobcat is available in. 25 auto
Has anyone seen or tried the 38 special HST yet?
>>33972826
10.235mm LGBTQA+P Magnum
>>33974177
>>33978012
>The FBI has changed handgun calibers 8 times in the last 100 years.
And? How is that bad? That only means that FBI reads scientific research and monitors progress of ballistics science and updates their criteria as new facts come to light.
FBI should be applauded for changing when facts change, you stupid retard.

The look on Jamal's face when you yell "Fire for effect !"
It was self defense judge, honest.
