>>
>>33969808
No clue.

I've seen the tilting barrel sort of short-recoil be used for really high powered Magnums like .50 Action Express and .440 CorBon, but then I've also seen the toggle-lock be used for 6.5mm Arisaka, .276 Pedersen and .30-06 too (albeit much more seldom), so I couldn't say.

I mean short-recoil is also used for the .50BMG cartridge in the M2HB, so I guess it's a matter of mass, strength, structure and engineering, like anything. I think simpler short-recoil actions like the toggle-lock is preferred for ease of manufacture and lower cost for both the producer and customer.

In that case, it's probably just that it's Swiss, and the Swiss were weirdly obsessed with toggle locking.

During WWII, they had toggle-locked light and heavy machine guns, submachine guns, pistols and even a fucking anti-tank rifle.

The logic behind it wasn't terrible. Allowing any soldier to quickly reload their squad's LMG from their rifle stripper clips, and allowing the LMG to be topped off at any time? Pretty good idea, really. The main problem is that it took too long to reload from empty and that hoppers make it too easy for grime to get into the gun.

I only had to learn it since it's a backup LMG if PKMs aren't available for some reason. Even them most of the officers thought that at this point it's a weapon of confusion as in throw it towards the advancing Russian formations and make your retreat while Ivan is pondering what the fuck the designers of this piece of metallic shit were thinking.

Indeed it's a weapon so terrible and design so weird it deserves a forgotten weapons episode on its own right.

The receiver from that gun is the the upper rifle barrel on the revolve from blade runner. It's a styer something I forget it's model number.

Fun fun facts with anon
>>
>>33976498
I actually field stripped and put it together the first time before getting any sort of training for that, so the basic structure is not that complicated. What makes rather bad weapon is that the ammunition belts may get entangled while in mag pouches and if fired from a hard surface the extraction is powerful enough that used case might bounce upwards and end up in between action - jamming the weapon. Ergonomics are also pretty poor and rate-of-fire (theoretical ROF is about 1,000 rounds per minute) is just crazy high for belt-fed weapon which lacks quick change barrel. Still - it was one of the first proper squad automatic weapons anywhere.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHlsk3bFuos
>>
>>33968816

The parts were handmade and to too loose specs. So the concept of spare parts and field repairs was shot from the start, and the poor fitting made for extremely frequent jamming.

You're not wrong about the cheapness and quality, but Tanfoglio doesn't have those neat Jericho 941 clones that Tristar/canick is making. They look more like the old school Jerichos than the ones IWI is churning out now. Plus they're only $400 a pop, I'll probably wait and see if I can find a Surplus trade in Jericho/baby eagle at a gun show first.

Jerichos are just Tanfoglios with a sexy slanted front.
Everything back from the muzzle is pretty much identical, IMI/IWI licenses the design from Tanfo and uses Tanfo parts.
I suspect even the frame on the Jericho is made by Tanfoglio, since the "Made in Israel" marking on it is crude and goes through the finish, unlike the dot-matrix style light stamping marks on the rest of the gun (identical to Tanfo)

The idea with the ball grip was indeed it to have a front grip. The idea was that it would allow "ergonomic flexibility" but turned out the benefits of the ball grip was by far outweighed by the complexity of mass producing them.

It was a Danish adaption of a Finnish machine gun and never left the experimental stage AFAIK. Being from Denmar/k/ myself I can tell you that Danish guns tends to fall into one of two categories: Exceeding expectations or failing horribly.

>Exceeding expectations
Madsen LMG
Madsen 20 mm cannon

>Failing horribly
Literally everything else

Picture related to "failing horribly" Madsen M47 a bolt action rifle developed "for the atomic age". While the fucking Slavs were faffing about with AK-47s we thought bolt action was still the shit. No wonder Germany managed to conquer us in six fucking hours.
>>
>>33979519
>Jerichos are just Tanfoglios with a sexy slanted front.

You're not wrong, but it's that sexy slanted front I'm all about, the Tristar t-120 and t-100 are the closest I can get to that, SPACE COWBOY AESTHETIC, without paying for a marked up 1990s Jericho. If only IWI/Magnum Research offered the current production steel ones without the rail, or at least made the rail with subtle cuts into the existing receiver like tristar did so it preserves the silhouette. Instead they just slapped on the real like an afterthought and it ruins the lines of the gun.
>>
>>33977935
Tur/k/ here,

Turkey's pretty strict on weaponry (shotguns-bolt actions only, pistols need a special license and extra tax), and importing weapons is banned, so I don't know much of Turkish weaponry aside from air rifles.

How do Turkish weapons fare abroad (I mean, aside from all the negative image coming across with the whole 'they support ISIS' thing)? Are they of quality? Do they even have a market (I know Aussies like them because of the lever actions)?
>>
>>33980099
Greetings, how are thing going over there under Edroachand's rule?

To answer your question. While people complain about the nation of origin for the weapons, thats really the only complaint, their shotguns and pistols have a good reputation for their value and preform right along side their higher priced market equivalents.

Turkish guns function more or less as good as any other country's firearms. given there's not a lot of high-end boutique gunmakers in Turkey, and fewer high-end guns from Turkey get exported, they build a reputation for cheaper guns. turbo-autists bitch about state-sponsored terrorism, but that's a discussion for /pol/

This reminds me of the opening cutscene of Shadow the Hedgehog, where he pumps an AR-style rifle

It was an MP5, actually.
Don't ask me why I remember.

I took a good look at that opening. As a kid I didn't think anything of it but now I think Shadow had to be a certified badass to pump an MP5 since it's literally impossible unless you're an edgy clone of a sentient speedy animal.

I wasn't the anon that made the filename. I was merely commenting that it was an abomination, and that abominations (bullpup or otherwise) are still abominations.

TP-82, they designed it with its own cartridge specifically for survival/ warding off bears. They went back to the mak a few years later though :c

The 9mm they used before/after this could still breach the craft, but not a bear

Yes, but the mechanism is far more bulkier and expensive to build so in the end it's not worth it.
>>
>>33974923
no, in itself it's not a bad idea, it's just that Colt cut corners and it ended a pos.

Fellow Danebro. You gotta remember how ass-backwards everything in our armed forces is. And the bookkeepers have the ultimate power, so someone probably thought that an automatic rifle would waste too many bullets and be too expensive. Back in 1864 most of the higher-ups even thought that rifled muzzles were a passing fad and it set the tone for centuries to come.
It doesn't help that a lot of officers were from Copenhagen and their attitude towards the enlisted were such that my father's company (2nd watch of the royal life guards under Hillingsoe) received a course in how to eat with utensils. Literally: "This is a knife, this is a fork. Don't let the fork confuse you, it's for food, not shoveling shit out of the pigsty." Judging from my father's stories, this wasn't an entirely unwarranted attitude, though.

I'm kind of happy to hear that, figured that they'd be of pretty horrid quality (most gunsmiths and companies come from the Black Sea region, where often there are guns made by old senile grandmothers converting and modifying blank guns with files a la Khyber Pass).

As for Erdragon, it's not that bad, really. The country was always a shithole, except we're not really hiding things anymore. At the very least I can take the metro to my university now.

Aimo Lahti was forced to early retirement (by the Soviets) in year 1945.

You think that Tikka T3 series or Sako TRG-42/44 are not good? Nowadays Finland has only one remaining industrial firearms manufacturer (Sako) and the company makes only bolt-action rifles, hence it would be unrealistic to expect them to introduce for example new pistol or machine gun.
