I need a T2 but my budget is about 7 dollars pls help
Also I think I might go with a 17.5 or an 18 instead of a 16 after some thinking
anyone here have experience with magpul's 762 mags?
>>33964968
17.2 is common for the shorter versions.
>>33965311
Yea I've seen em for sale a few times and they're not too expensive. Plus dat more reliable gas. Just gotta get one that's BC eventually
I bought a scar 17, but because I'm in CA I have to wait 10 days until i can take it home.
>tfw i'd trade it in an instant for the opportunity to move out of this state.
Any idea what the HK21 semi autos sell for?
http://www.michaelsmachines.com/mm_21e.htm
>>33965333
I was unclear. I didn't mean shorter gas systems. I read somewhere (maybe falfiles) that a 17.2 barrel was the shortest any military version went. You can find a good number of barrels in that length.
>>33965510
Yea I know. I meant that 16 inch FALs have problems with standard gas ports because retard short dwell time
>or so i hear
And by BC I meant that all the Imbel 17.2s I've seen are NBC and BC barrels are just 1000x more aesthetic
>>33965492
Didn't Cali say no more Salt gats? Is the stock pinned with kydex around the grip or something?
How tough is it to build an FAL off an Imbel parts kit? I did some reading, found all the tools I will need, but no one really talked about the difficulty level. Anyone here built one?
>>33964670
Frig off with my rifles
>>33966178
Basically
>wrench barrel into receiver with a good amount of torque
>find correct size locking shoulder and check headspace
>populate barrel
>put on all of the other shit
No more difficult than an AR, flandre and oilcan have build vids/tutorials floating around
>>33965827
Removable kydex wrap and reversible stock fix.
>>33965492
Is the SCAR 17s worth it? I've got a 14.5" AR and a 9.5" .300 Blackout pistol and can't decide if I should stick with what I've got or add a battle rifle
Is an FAL para worth the buy?
>>33966451
100%
I already can't wait to get my next one
>>33966475
Is the recoil any different compared to a fixed stock one
>>33966504
I'd have to put the two side by side to really tell but I don't think the impulse is much different
That said my para config is some 10.5 or some shit unloaded I think
>will be less when i finish filing the stoll off
And my fixed stock is like 9-9.5 unloaded somewhere around that number, so it's not a fair comparison. That and shooting the fixed stock I use a more traditional grip whereas the CASV lets me do basically a thumb break grip
>tl;dr no but it wasn't quite a fair test
>>33966539
Last and final question, FNX-40 of FNX-9? thaks for being helpful
>>33966574
45 tactical obviously
Of those two I'd go with the 9 though, with 40 being a meme and all. I have played with an FNS9C a long time ago and they're pretty nice for a compact. The grip angle on all of the FN pistols are pleasing to me
>>33964670
I want a fal because reasons. What companies should I look at and what ones should I avoid?
>>33966724
You dont have any options mate, you're late to the game as far as companies go.
>>33967173
Well shit, are the dsa voyaugers any good?
>>33967343
If you only shoot casually, then sure I guess. It'll hold up to casual range use just fine, which is honestly what most shooters do anyway.
Just don't buy one if you wanna drive the rifle into the dirt. If you wanna do that then either shell out the cash for a proper SA58 from DSA (preferably one with a forged receiver, if they still even make those) or build your own from a parts kit, preferably on an IMBEL or DSA receiver.
Just learn to love a rifle that weighs 13+ pounds loaded with no accessories of you go the surplus route, especially if you go full IMBEL.
Those Brazilians made literally everything but the furniture from steel, and that bitch is thick I tell you.
Avoid Coonan.
Avoid Century.
Avoid Hesse.
Be very wary of Enterprise.
IAI builds are pretty OK but kinda rare these days.
I can throw some useful links your way if you want some more details about FAL building and don't knkw where to start, but I'm on mobile rn.
>>33967382
Thanks, if you get the chance I'd love the links. But desu I have no idea what goes into building a fal. The only gun I've built is an ar, and I'm sure that's like legos compared to anything else.
>>33967173
I own a british made L1A1 and an austrian Steyr Stg58. Both are very nice guns. Although i haven't been able to shoot the Steyr yet
Pic related
>>33967466
I like my stg58, i recommend taking bi-pod of if you don't use them. Theres also few L1A1 for sale around 500-600€, but haven't bought one because the mag and parts don't apparently fit each other, inch mag are harder to find and cost more also i don't like idea where almost identical mags don't fit my metric fal
>>33967508
On one habd I agree that the rifle feels better without bipod. But my inner collector keeps telling me
>"you can't do that, it is a part of the rifle!"
Pic related is my L1A1, does anybody know how to properly date them?
are there any good 20 inch scar17 barrels ?
>>33967557
Need start of the serial
>>33967557
You can identify Australian Fal's if serial number is upside down
>>33967577
I'm currently in a reservists course of the army and i don't have a pic of it on my phone.
Do you have any links?
>>33967597

>>33967602
Many thanks
>>33966200
I've seen Flandre's video bit can you link oilcan's?
>>33967451
Its not AR-tier levels of easy, but its a damn sight easier than an HK or AK build and requires very few specialized tools.
I know gunplumber/ARS still has some IMBEL kits, but I have no recent prices on those.
This link talks about how to build the FAL step by step with some AWB shennanigans thrown in.
http://www.cruffler.com/trivia-April01-background.html
And Flandre has a video where he builds an inch and a metric rifle.

If you want an IMBEL receiver, then you either have to find someone selling theirs online or wait for another group buy on the FALFiles since I'm pretty sure that nobody imports them with any regularity.
>>33967343
They are, you can opt for a forged receiver from dsa for about what a forged imbel will run you, less if you buy it secondhand and not in a group buy.
Tools will cost you about as much as a builder will charge so unless you maybe think youll make a couple just send it to be built or buy it built dude.
>>33967466
Thats awesome dude dont ever let go of that steyr, im not a fan of l1a1's, but I dont know why you linked my post.
>>33967683
You will have to scrape the archives, he posted it here a while ago as a series of photos+text. I cant be assed to zip and upload it
God dammit I'm so close to having a combo now
Ka-bump
After much waiting, I've finally made it here, boys.
Bumping with a crate of G3s I saw lying in an arms room in a Latvian military post. The trainees and the Latvian national guard used them, whilst the guys posted there had G36s.
>>33966420
Yes it is
>>33966420
Scars are a meme. You can do more for less with an ar10 build.
>like maybe half of the dust
Why did DSA have to torque the shit out of their muzzles
>>33975311
The heck is that, lad?
>>33975381
Metal dust on a magnet
I've taken a handfile to my fake stoll so hopefully it'll be off by next week and replaced with a Belgian combo
>>33972817
Dmr hahahahaha, okay dude.
>>33974942
Mein nigger, did you buy or build?
Dood tell me you have a can for the heck and keck.
>>33975464
He has the scope, bipod, cheek riser, and full power cartridge. He probably also needs a good trigger group and he is there.
Honestly that is what pisses me off the most about the ptr 91 is the shit trigger.
>>33975473
I snagged it off gunbroker. I've built AR's before, but I didn't know enough about FALs to risk building one and trusting myself to not fuck it up. Also, canning my HK is definitely on my bucket list. If I get one, I'm going to wait for an actual Knight's can to show up. It wouldn't really feel right to buy a can for a Mark 23 without getting the one designed for it.
>>33975506
Indeed it was absolute trash. Switched it out for a custom trigger pack that reduced the pull to 5 lbs. Just added the PA scope so I plan to take it out and zero it in once my ammo shipment arrives.
>>33977462
what power scope are you using there?
>>33975419
There's gotta be a better way?
>>33979000
A dremel or something probably. But there's not a whole lot of material under the brake before you reach threads, and I'm not really keen on destroying the only barrel for Stg58 #125433. I'd rather spend all the extra time with a file and keep the threads as intact as possible
>>33966475
Whats the tape for poser?
>>33979036
FNX: Fun
FAL mag: So I can tell my steel from my hiduminium mag
>>33966420
Yes is is
Tips though, get the rechambering kit for 5.56 and try to keep accessories off the front rails, a 3-6X optic is your friend.
