Can anyone tell me about the 2003 battle?
I've looked at that battle for research and had some questions about it. Can you guys tell me if there really was a massive sandstorm on the final? A bus with Iraqi soldier crashed into Bradley and got shredded point blank. Is this true? How did you guys deal with not demaging the mosque? Were there fights in the graveyard? Anything you can tell me would be super awesome.
This also goes for2004 battle, to try to get sense of look and feel of town and it's geography first hand

fought within the tombs and shit, just a huge pain in the ass to move around, but there was at least cover, lots on 10 meters or less engagements some hand to hand fighting in some spots and some of the first tunnel fighting since vietnam (got to go in one tunnel with the LTs M9, found 2 dead guys in a dug out area as well as some intel and weapons

no shade for miles, just baking in that shit

they told us not to fire at the gold mosque dome, but alot of us popped off a few shots at it anyways, myself included

the pullout is known as the Najaf Mile, nowhere as crazy as the mogadishu mile, but still sucked, just took a lot of indirect fire since our highbacks were full of wounded, its why today i still keep up my cardio in case i ever need to repeat something like that again

As someone who has only experienced combat via video games, this disappointed guy sounds like most people who want "action" and "combat" without actually having to do all of the hard shit that comes from it. Vets are the closest thing that someone like me will get to experiencing actual combat and by you telling him that you don't know kind of ruined the half-cheap thrill he would have gotten from hearing about killing someone. Me and I think this other guy are just saying that we don't like talking about it or being asked questions so we just don't let people know. Problem solved, no one is hurt. Of course if someone knows and gives thanks I'm not an asshole about it, but I'd rather just avoid it altogether.
