Name a better one then. Not trolling but the AR has passed the test of time at this point as a fantastic rifle that will work in many adverse conditions. Also, it's super popular so you can get one at any desired price point and find ammo everywhere for it

Because most people are idiots who don't do research and just buy what they saw that cool guy on youtube using.

Cost to performance ratio.

Sure, SCAR or ACR or HK offer some slight improvements, with double or more the price. What exactly do these better rifles do so much better than a basic AR that they cost so much?

The MR556 is just a piston driven, modified AR style of weapon. Same mags (for the most part), and relatively same fcg OTHER than the hammer which HAS to be Mil-Spec (can't be notched) in order to bypass the firing pin safety the MR556 has. And even then you're not a cuck with a notched hammer are you?

Granted it uses its own spring and buffer system but that's no different than needing the proper buffer and spring for the proper gas system with a regular DI AR.
>>
>>33958812
AKM
>>
>>33958842
All heavier than a DI AR without any benefit when chambered in 5.56.

At room clearing distances a Tavor is no better than a 10.5 or 11.5 AR. For longer distances I want a gun with a much better trigger than the Tavor has.

The SCAR in 5.56 doesn't do anything an AR can't and it's heavier. Same for the CZ805.

Now when someone comes out with a design that weighs 5.5lbs fully loaded with optics, irons, and a light with at least a 16" barrel that is capable of 1 MOA and an overall length that is shorter than an AR with a 16" barrel I might be interested.

Yeah, tell me how the 2006 CNA report that explained most problems were with the magazines, which have since been fixed, as well as later testing showing much different results where the AR's did just fine, hinting at flawed testing methods originally (old ass AR's vs factory-like-new guns, burst fire misconception, etc.), was so totally wrong or something, or how improved ammunition has come along to put to rest that retarded "muh armor, muh tumbling" bullshit is somehow not a factor.

All milspec bolts are the same. If you want something proprietary (aka better) you're going to pay more, not less.

Doesn't change the fact that the average bolt life in an M4 is 7k rounds and 10k for an M16 under NORMAL (not heavy) use.

Gee, it's a good thing our military never updates it's weapons when it's felt that it's needed, or your incredible stupidity in suggesting a bolt for an AR is, or makes the whole weapon, more expensive than something else (which you still haven't mentioned, by the way, not even going into how the AR is still more modular and supported aftermarket), or I dunno, that having no relating to the OP which doesn't say "in a military setting" or some stupid qualifier shit like that.

While the AK is more likely to fail if you shove clay into the opening on the receiver, the AR is more likely to fail if you don't keep it cleaned and lubed, which means it fails under normal use conditions. Plus if you get clay in your AK you just pop the dust cover and pee in it, or use water if you have it. If your AR gets fucked you're going to have to take it apart, figure out what's going on, then give it a full cleaning and lubing.
>>
>>33962175

Shove a bee or whatever into any other weapons chamber and see how it functions. Or any other myriad of things I could say about that.

Weird how you accuse me of watching YouTube, then post a YouTube video.

>>
>>33958842
I'm getting 1 MOA with my admittedly not so good ranged shooting technique on a $800.00 AR with basic optical sights and offset BUIS and weighs like 7lbs. I'll probably wind up using AR in close 25m-300m most of the time. I shoot like a sniper compared to the AK users around me.
POV has a 11.5 AR in a scabbard.

The SCAR costs 4 times as much, weighs much more. not a bad rifle just expensive.
HK 416 more $ and not buying into the mechanism meme yet.

CZ805 More money again x2.5$ weighs noticeably more than my AR.

Tavor again lots more $ , Different ergo than what I am used too, can't fire off handed (yes I shoot from both hands for JIC), can't shoot from prone effectively. I feel like newbie shooting a Tavor practiced with one JIC I have to use one in a pinch. Where I am Tavors are common.

Did you just Google your alternates?

When you buy your guns out of your pockets the cost/compatibility/versatility/weight/lifetime does matter. Now if someone would give me a German M4 carbine I'd carry it. But it's not compelling for me to go out of the way to get it over what I'm used too.

It's almost a 70 year old platform. Why would replacing it surprise you?

Sure you've invested a lot into your AR's but technology moves on. It's not going to be a timeless platform like the AK, it never had the potential to be. Every other NATO (and non-NATO) country adopting a non-DI gun should be proof to this. The only countries that use an AR type rifle that isn't a variant of the AR18 only do so because they get free guns from us.
