Is this legit, /k/?

if it is, then why isn't the military using full-colored NVGs?
>>
>>33957308
Because thermal overlay is more important and we are busy changing over to that in the form of the PSQ-20.
>>
>>33957329
PSQ-20 is garbage
>>
>>33957349
Got asked why, I answered.
That said
, The A version really messed up the battery case. The first version had a way better mount for the case, and the case itself didn't do that cool tactical dismount as readily. My unit got a few of the first ones and I was very sad to see them go and get replaced with the 20a.

>Also, it illegal to allow a non-US Citizen to look through US Gen3 Night Vision Devices, even on US soil. Again, this is a crime punishable by fines and prison sentences.

What did they mean by this?
>>
>>33957413
>a non citizen can buy an AR but can't look through a pair of green tubes

really jingles my mingles
>>
>>33957394
jews?
>>
>>33957308
Something like that would suck down batteries like an old school camcorder. Might be good for things like TOW missiles and Javelins though.

Current gen I2 tubes are pretty thrifty on batteries, all things considered, but I think what you've shown is the future.

Maybe if they can make I2 fibers react to only specific wavelengths, then pattern them like the phosphors in CRT TVs, we could achieve the same effect for far less.
>>
It would be cheaper and better to just fight in the daylight, then you save all the batteries
>>
>>33957413
It means that the Chink assembling NV devices for export to Cabella's can't look through them.

There are no laws governing the possession of NV equipment inside the USA (citizen or not). There are laws governing their use for hunting. Export is restricted based on the device's performance (figure of merit).
>>
>>33957413
It means that you're not allowed to watch this youtube video unless you're an American citizen:

ONLY AMERICANS ALLOWED. EUROS, RUSKIES AND CHINKS GO HOME.

ONLY AMERICANS ALLOWED. EUROS, RUSKIES AND CHINKS GO HOME.
>>
>>33957329
iirc the they're working on thermal overlay for the true color nvgs
>>
>>33958052
Why are there laws about them for hunting? Do they think it makes you unable to distinguish man from deer?
>>
>>33958179
We predator now
>>
>>33958277
Only thing we need now is adaptive optic camo.
>>
>>33958052
>There are no laws governing the possession of NV equipment inside the USA (citizen or not)
according to that website they wont sell to you unless you are cop. little people are not welcome
>>
>>33958312
That's their choice, not the law.

Currently the lens required for color night vision is too big and bulky to be used as a goggle

Vehicles might get them first

Is this some sort of joke I'm not getting?
>>
>>33963731

Isn't it 4K? If it is, that's probably why.

I am willing to bet they use some kind of older modified RED sensor.
>>
>>33957413
Sounds like massive bullshit. The only NVGs I've looked through were 3rd gen and belonged to a hard core airsofter who's a gook non-citizen.
>>
>>33964224
No, it's the truth.

you can't mount NV devices on a gun. It's a-ok to wear goggle style
>>
>>33958179
That color scheme really reminds me of Fallout New Vegas.
>>
>>33963688
As great as that is, the size of the damn thing along with the blowout from light limit use. Maybe in a few years, they'll have it small enough to mount on a helmet with optional thermal overlay and at that point you could probably just go with a fully enclosed helmet and use your cameras 24/7.

Can be OPSEC and they joke through it.

American is the annoying kid who won't let you use the good controller.
>>
>>33967692
American companies already panic that they would be swept aside from the world's NVG market by china. With ITAR burgers can't compete with them.

The X27 is only 1080p 60fps; the reason it's big (though see pic; the rev2 model is small enough you could [uncomfortably] mount it on a rifle) is that it needs a big aperture (opening for light to get in), which also means some heavy optics to compactly focus that down to the sensor.

>>33967715 I'm annoyed by this threads cancer. But america uses & makes the best L2 & L3 technology in the world 2nd only yo Steiner in Germany. That would no longer be the case if china came along with shit tier copy's.

ITAR is in place to prevent copying and mass distributing this stuff to poo in the loo country so we can utterly destroy them a t night WE OWN THE night thanks to ITAR and EAR regulations. good luck remaindering GAas for there image intensifiers that's the part that works the magic with auto gating and good glass supplements and gives a wider range of clarity limits.

They are planning on making color adapters to current AN/PVS 14 platforms as mentioned in shot show 2017 google it.
>>
Apparently it's just a normal CMOS sensor but the silicon is replaced by quantum dots deposited on a thin film substrate. You will probably see it in DSLRs sooner or later.

The gen 1 unit is still smaller than original starlight scopes from Vietnam, and the gen 2 is smaller than most units from the 80s. Give it another 5 years.

They constantly boast about very large pixel's size for light collection. I have suspicion that their chip has literally size of the postcard. Nothing to improve here as size of pixel is principle of operation.
>>
>>33970052
>Nothing to improve here as size of pixel is principle of operation.
Depending on the exact mechanics of its operation, they could reduce the thickness/depth of the device and make it lighter.

And there came a time when Man, through his craft in the art of Light, knew not the embrace of Night, and forever wandered in bright country. Bereft of the concealing nature of Darkness, Man forgot what it meant for a thing to be unknown, and in his arrogance, declared all things to be known. Having no place to hide, Man then hid inside himself, the last place a secret could not be known. In time, Man became a husk, a vessel for secrets that could not be used in the world without the threat of watching eyes. And when the burden of his secrets became too great to bear, Man was devoured by them, utterly and whole. Thus, Man diminished to the forests and the caves, and now await a time when the Known will become the Unknown, and a new legend to arise that gives men the hope of Light amidst the infinite void of Darkness.
