That's basically what the Osprey is.

Can't even keep these things with service men in the air. You think the government is gonna trust it with equipment?
>>
>>33954478
Uh... yes? The Marines use it for cargo all the time.
>>
>>33954042
my op was resupplied a couple times using ospreys.
>>
>>33954478
Marine Corp uses those fuckers all the time.
>>
>>33954478
It's not even summer yet.

Git out, kid. It's a school night.
>>
>>33954478
You know pilots are getting better with them right?
>>
>>33954478
Careful with that meme. It's an antique.
>>
>>33954638
>been in service around 10 years (June 2007), in development for nearly 30 years (first flew March 1989)
>"pilots are getting better with them"
If it takes a decade of service for pilots to learn how to not crash them on the regular, it's a shitty design.

You do know that the Navy intends to replace the C-2 with V-22s, right?
>>
>>33954042
Tell me what purpose a C-130 sized Osprey would play

t. 550+ Osprey flight hours
>>
>>33956056
The same purpose a C-130 plays.
>>
>>33956129
Great. So we dont need to spend a gorillion dollars to fund your retarded idea
>>
>>33954042
>why don't we make a cargo plane less efficient
Did you really have to ask ?
>>
>>33955936

IsnĀ“t that the anime with the mages shooting down Apache Longbows piloted by vampires, using magic bows?
>>
>>33956163
Yes.

That vampires also use a C-130 as a suicide bomb truck.
>>
>>33956147
>assuming everyone is OP
>>
>>33955936
Is this show any good? Aside from apache webm
>>
>>33956522
If you've not got anything better to watch, sure.
>>
Traditional takeoff is more efficient, capable of heavier loads. Scaling VTOL that large would not compete with the dedicated cargo plane
>>
>>33954042
Because for the amount of weight that class of aircraft has to carry and the requirements engineering wise to make the same set up as an osprey you'd have a more costly, more maintenance heavy and more difficult plane to fly. You would have all the problems of the osprey but now applied to a much larger aircraft. This idea could be something done in the next century when VTOL systems have been more ironed out, made more reliable and pilots can be more adequately trained on them. Something like this is kind of the way this will go, but it's impractical to do so now.
