>milsurp guns and ammo have dried up
>the scout rifle meme is the only reason most companies even offer bolt action rifles with iron sights on their non rimfire or magnum rifle lines
>even most new manufactured single shot rifles don't come with iron sights anymore
>ammo prices are still much higher than they were a decade ago, though .22lr is finally starting to come back down
>AR-15s have come down in price so far that it's unlikely any competing semi auto rifle design will ever make it beyond niche popularity on the civilian market, even AKs stopped being able to compete price wise a couple years ago
>previously good gun manufacturers are putting out shit
>most new handguns all look more or less the same
Looking back, I don't think I would have got into guns anywhere near as much as I did if the market then was like it is today. Does anyone else not like the way the market has been going?

Existing popular calibers have been around for 50+ years. It's only natural that guns chambered in them would eventually converge or similar designs, or just outright the same platform (1911s, ARs). The big changes recently have been in sighting (fiber optics, RDS, better variable optics), and ammunition (.300blk, 6.5mm CM/G, etc.). The really big hope is that parts of the NFA go away, allowing manufacturers more room to work with. Ruger is jumping out in front of this trend, manufacturing an integrally suppressed barrel for the 10/22. Do you really think Ruger of all companies would be doing this if the Hearing Protection Act didn't stand a solid chance of passing?
>>
The only solution is to repeal the Hughes Amendment.

You are a gigantic faggot.

The industry is the strongest it has been for a while. Who gives a fuck about milsurp when we avoided Hillary and a new awb, and ARs and tactical training are available at a level not seen before? Everyone is making supressors and the hearing protection act might be a thing in a few years. Rifle caliber "pistols" and braces are available for cheap. You have 80% receivers you can buy online for less than 50 bucks and have them shipped to your house and the jigs and info to make AR10s, AR9s that take glock mags, and regular AR15s. Aks are still available if you save money and know where to look, along with high quality parts and optics for them. .22s can be had for under $3 /50 and you can get a 10/22 takedown for under $300.

So sks and mosins are not as cheap as they were....and what? Why didnt you buy a chinese sks from Southern Ohio for $100 3 years ago you faggot? You are living in a golden age and can only complain like a little bitch because you cant buy a snowflake milsurp or "different looking gun"?

>eight years of Obama
>no AWB
>but yeah, Trump is a huge victory

If he gave a shit, he could prove it in ten minutes by signing executive orders and raping the import bans.
>>
>>33951674
>what is prioritization
He put Gorsuch on the supreme court instead of the gungrabbers Hillary would have packed it with. Now he has a chance to rule on a couple of court cases in progress that could totally overturn all state and local AWBs and may-issue states. That alone is a huge victory. I care less about import bans than I do about cans, SBRs/SBSes, and national reciprocity.
>>
>>33951697
He doesn't need to prioritize shit.

It would cost him literally nothing, and he still hasn't done it, because he doesn't give a shit.

Having Trump in office is functionally indistinguishable from Obama.

>Having Trump in office is functionally indistinguishable from Obama.

>>
>>33951534
>The big changes recently have been in sighting
Not going to deny this, unfortunately I've always preferred iron sights. Also, considering the lack of iron sights on bolt actions, is it too much to ask for a company to offer a decent longer red dot sight that mounts like a regular scope? The only options I'm aware of are from Aimpoint or bottom of the barrel garbage.

>Do you really think Ruger of all companies would be doing this if the Hearing Protection Act didn't stand a solid chance of passing?
Yes, because HPA or not there's still some demand. Besides that, I don't think the HPA alone would really bring about that much innovation considering I don't think I've heard of many particularly interesting products out of Europe in the countries where suppressors aren't heavily regulated. Only changes that would likely happen if the HPA passed would be manufacturers offering integrally suppressed barrels for popular rifle (where you can already get after market options) and modular suppressors experiencing a slight increase in popularity.
>>
>>33951710
This, the only thing trump has done for guns is the mental competency overturn which was clearly more about him overturning somethig obama did and fuckall to do with advancing gun rights
>>
>>33951744
>Only changes that would likely happen if the HPA passed would be manufacturers offering integrally suppressed barrels for popular rifle (where you can already get after market options) and modular suppressors experiencing a slight increase in popularity.
There are also second order effects, like subsonic calibers like .45ACP and .300blk suddenly gaining popularity for HD guns, where you can make your gun just about hearing safe without going through the headaches of owning an NFA item or the legal minefield of using it to kill someone. This goes double for .300blk since the ATF's recent ruling that shouldering an arm brace doesn't make a pistol an SBR.
>>
>>33951475
Now we have every excuse to spend money on ammo and shoot it instead of buying new guns all the time.

Did you forget the leftist media and political onslaught after Sandy hook? Were you asleep for those 8 years and the repeated attempts to pass anti gun legislations not through EO but backdoor channels at the local and state level? Were you asleep during Fast and Furious and forget Obama and the president of Mexico along with tons of leftist media outlets using the "river of iron" to call for banning guns in the US as a solution to Mexico's violence?

Did you forget Colorado and magpul abandoning the state and the great colorado airlift? Massachussets? NY Safe act? Did you forget the reason so many anti-gun measures were defeated was because of an almost unprecedented mobilization of pro 2A activists at the local and state level, through various organizations?

If you fail to see why so much opposition at every level to the Obama administration -including several Sheriffs from different states telling him "we will arrest any fed that tries to impose this- is the only reason things didnt get worse you are a fucking imbecile. To compare Obama's administration to Trump's on the issue of gun rights and claim "its the same" is so fucking stupid I wonder if you are an underage reddit newfag or a shill.

No, it is you who is the gigantic faggot.

>Who gives a fuck about milsurp when we avoided Hillary and a new awb
Why should I believe there was any threat of a federal AWB under Hillary when the dems couldn't pass one under Obama while standing on the corpses of 30 kindergarteners and polls are showing an all time low for support of an AWB IIRC.

>Rifle caliber "pistols" and braces are available for cheap
While the arm braces are new, inexpensive rifle caliber pistols are not. Only thing that has changed is that there used to be a variety of designs and now it's just AR-15s (which are a worse option due to the buffer tube).

>.22s can be had for under $3 /50
That's over 50% more than what you could get it for 10 years ago at your LGS.

>you can get a 10/22 takedown for under $300.
If I wanted a takedown .22 I would have bought an AR7 years ago.

Because I already own a first year production Chinese SKS.

Yeah, we beat back the push for stricter gun control laws at the federal level and a few states that already had stricter gun control laws suffered a bit of a loss. Now Republicans control every branch of the federal government and you're telling me I should be happy even though there is no push to loosen gun control laws at the federal level because other issues are more important? Go fuck yourself and leave /k/ forever, same goes for all the other Trumptards who want to put guns on the back burner because they think other issues suddenly became more important. Guess what it means if we stop pushing back now and the next president ends up being a Democrat, it means we got nowhere even though Republicans had almost complete control over the federal government and we're back on defense again.

Yeah, we all know Phil is a faggot, but he's been here for years now. You must be pretty new if you haven't noticed him before.

But half of /k/ are cross borders from /pol/, the other half are no guns.

As for guns being the same. You have issues with some countries getting salty about losing contracts and what not.

P90 and Five Seven (want want want want in full auto)
Taurus Curve (Love mine, seriously love it)
Henry AR-7 (followed by Ruger break down)
Zip gun (tons of jamming fun until springs fixed)

Then you have the whole carbine series but they need to work on how much ammo they can carry.
>>
>>33953476
The misinterpretation comes from the fact that a lot of /pol/ crossboarders just don't talk /pol/ stuff on /k/ and are thus indistinguishable. It's the loud retards that make the impression.

Ah I missed the name, I hardly see anyone posting with an actual name on here anymore so I tend to not pay attention much to names.

Yeah, and most of /pol/ has been here since 2007 or whatever bullshit they claim. Like I'd listen to a bunch of pathological liars who are their own their own thesis on the results of unchecked immigration.

>hurr durr if you weren't poor it wouldn't be an issue
I absolutely despise this mindset, allow me to explain why it's fucking retarded. Let's say I'm at a market and I go to a fruit stand. They are selling apples for $50/lb. Now, you could stand there and let the drool drip out of your mouth as you fork over your money and murmur, "hurr, I'm glad I'm not poor." Provided that you weren't an absolute imbecile, you could also question why the fuck you're paying so much for some goddamn apples when they are obviously not worth that absurd price.

I have the ability to afford nice things, that doesn't mean I will happily shell out $300 for a Nugget or pay tens of thousands of dollars for a worn-out MG when their prices are arbitrarily inflated due to legal bullshit.

also, you idiots realize that the Canucks have access to imports that we burgers literally cannot legally obtain, right? Unless you have enough money to lobby the fuck out of Congress so they change the laws, you cannot buy that shit without smuggling it over the border.

>his administration has been a train-wreck so far.
But it really hasn't been. Deportations are ramping up to the tens of thousands. We're closing in on a million net new jobs created. We just closed a major trade deal with China, who is also buying our coal instead of North Korea's. Healthcare and tax reform are on track. Regulatory reform is in full swing. The federal debt is DOWN $200 billion. We got an originalist judge on the Supreme Court instead of some batshit gun grabber. The wall is under construction (hundreds of miles of pissant fence replaced with 20 foot steel walls or levees) with money that should have been Obama's to spend.

The only reason you think it's a train wreck is that the media lies to you, constantly.
>>
>>33953556
>when they are obviously not worth that absurd price.
if anyone is willing to buy them at that price they are worth that price.
additionally you are literally comparing apples to RIFLES, things that grow on trees versus things that need to be built in a factory.

Except the only reason the supply is as limited as it is is due to stupid laws. There are warehouses in Russia that are full of Mosin Nagants/SKSes/AKs/whatever that US importers have been barred from touching guns from for decades. All those Russian surplus guns the US has imported over the years? Those are from Ukraine and other countries in the area that weren't Russia.

To be fair the Mexicans have access to even better stuff sold to them by the ATF. Only issue is they had to wait a week for the tracker battery to run out.

No anon. there are a limited number of them weather or not they're in country or not that is the limited number. if ALL of them were in the US you'd still see the $300 or more price-tag eventually because. If the import law were to be removed the price would drop for a while but eventually come back up.

OP if you want "innovation" live in a ban state that forces things like pump-action, stripper-clip fed featureless ARs to exist. Remember the Single Shot Exemption for the CA roster?

This will continue until ALL gun control ends. Thankfully, we might actually see this within twenty years if the GOP win in 2020 (a redistricting year).
>>

Ever heard of Ruby Ridge?
The ATF needs to be reigned in.
>>
>>33953973

No, they need to be disbanded. Give all their duties to the DHS directly. No reason to have separate enforcement for A, T, F crimes. Same for the DEA.
>>
>>33953335
>any action on the HPA, other suggested pro gun legislation, rolling back the 7n6 ban, rolling back the sporting purpose restrictions on imports, rolling back the various import bans, or any other pro gun actions?

Sometime around the 1st of Never. Trump doesn't give a fuck he just said that shit because you have to when you're a Republican.
>>
>>33954001
Fair enough. I was speaking in realistic terms, I doubt there would be enough traction for flat out disbanding the ATF.
>>
>>33954011

>There are people who unironically like the canuck gun laws

Switch places with me, please do it. I would gladly take your gun laws over mine, I'll even give you my garbage ass sks' and my svt40

I would love to carry a handgun
I would love to shoot an AR15 or handgun outside of a shitty range 1.5 hours away from me but that's illegal
I would love to not have to worry about someone signing a bill in Ottawa that suddenly makes something I own prohibited and lands me in jail for 10 fucking years
I would love to have any sort of privacy from the RCMP but that doesn't exist
I would love to have any sort of right to defend my home but that doesn't exist
Want any sort of modern "tactical" rifle? Either you got an AR15 you can't shoot outside a range, a shitty ass Chinese bullpup, or you're looking at spending 2k+ bare minimum on a rifle that's worse than an AR in so many ways yet costs twice as much if not more than what you'd spend on an AR because for some stupid reason our NR rifles are stupidly expensive
All those 30 round mags? Pin them to 5 (10 handgun) or you're looking at 10 years in prison
Anything AK? Illegal by name
Any handgun with a barrel smaller than 105mm? Illegal
If you legitimately think our laws are great because we get cheap russian/chinese guns I can't help but think you're a fucking retarded slavaboo who doesn't know how good you got it

This right here. Too much time spent thinks about what to buy, what new shit is the coolest, etc etc. Go out and shoot more, don't buy any guns for a few years, shoot even more than you do now if you already shoot a lot. Find new ways to shoot, make fun targets, find a better place to shoot, find people to shoot with (or at). Collecting guns is fine but the real point, and where the enjoyment truly lies, is shooting them a lot. Enjoy what you have, you're probably not getting the most out of it yet anyway.

The problem with tacticool faggots, mallninjas, gearqueers or whatever you want to call them is that they do all this bullshit and take it all seriously then when someone confronts them for being cancerous faggots they say "it's just a bit of fun, man, chill out we're not serious." Go look at any of the relevant generals or ARFCOM and see if they aren't serious and won't admit to it.
>>
>>33955985

It's a circle jerk and breeds shitty tipfags, incestuous bullshit is never good and those generals are completely self contained. They also delude themselves to no end and it's all well and good you saying live and let live 'what harm do they do to you?' but in the end they're annoying fags and everybody hates annoying fags. Also they're of a type which has been rightfully hated on /k/ since the beginning.
