/k/ derides any firearm that isn't used by the military/a federal law enforcement agency or that hasn't been prominently featured in movies and video games.

This is especially hilarious given that they constantly invoke "muh utilitarianism" to justify their particular taste or choice in firearms, when the truth is exactly the opposite.
>>

Because they do some things way better than guns of similar pricepoints.

they arent the Raven Arms ring-of-fire guns, but are similarly priced.

they are tough as nails, but have 0 elegance. They are more reliable than many more expensive guns.

They are actually fairly accurate, more so than a sub $200 pistol could be expected to be. More so than many guns that cost $300 or even $400.

their ergos can be kinda junky. The trigger is best described as "functionally mediocre".

oh, and their customer service is the best of any industry i know of.

The fact that you can get a functional firearm, cheaply, that can compete with much more expensive and more aesthetic guns makes it instantly hateable by those who see guns as much as a status symbol as a hobby.
>>
>>33950149
This guy gets it. Hi-Points are actually the best value for $ firearm in existence, and nothing is more hilarious than watching fanboys of overpriced junk like modern Sigs give gold medal performances in mental gymnastics when a bargain bin gangbanger gun outperforms their $1100 Legion or somesuch in ANY way.

They really aren't much tougher than anything else that has an actual locking system, they are massive for being single stack, they have been rising in price to 200ish so the original argument for the best thing around $100 is shot, especially with turkshit double stack clones getting imported and their warranty doesn't mean their products aren't crap.

Overall they haven't been worth getting in over a decade but if you can find one used for less than 100 I'd still get it for shiggles

>>
>>33950146

Of course

It's open to everything

Revolvers can also fail in mud more than you'd think; 1911s were found to be more reliable in mud tests.

Closed system = more reliable in mud
>>
>>33949642
>>33949658
> the most reliable and simple design

Isn't this potentially more reliable than a Revolver ***if it had better QC*** ? I've seen /k/ link some interesting videos with professionals discussing how Revolvers have not been a "go-to" for "most reliable" for quite some time. They hide a lot of intricate components that are basically clockwork.
>>
>>33951792
Yeah, but for most revolvers, the clockwork bits are build really well. And while it isn't a simple design, it has had the longest time to be perfected. The cheapest and shittiest revolvers you can find today are going to be of a higher quality than those made 100 years ago.

A hi-point is roughly equal.
>>
>>33951792
It would be a decent gun if it had a better magazine, AND if you could remove the slide without removing a roll pin.

The magazine safety is also superfluous, but you can remove it pretty easily by taking off one of the grip panels and removing a metal strut, and the gun will work normally.
>>
>>33951569
> kek.
>>
>>33951835
>built really well

I've seen highpoints held in a vice with a carriage bolt plugging the barrel survive mostly intact.
I've seen modified highpoints handle fucking 10mm like it was made for it.

The only problem I've seen with highpoints is QC, mostly roughspots and burrs and other final stage production stuff.

If they made a "deluxe" highpoint which doesn't require amateur gunsmithing out of the box, it would be more reliable than a revolver in terms of taking beatings.
>>
>>33949656
Colon-delayed blowout action. Tyrone's now got a new way to shit up the streets.
>>
>>33949642
Just one lucky copy. There are other videos of tests less dirty than that, and they did horrible. Look up Military Arms Channel.
>>
>>33951453
I feel like my Romy tok is a more delicate (yet crude) pistol than my bulgy mak. I feel like the mak is a straight up brick of steel.
>>
>>33951792
The reason why revolvers have a reputation for reliability is that they completely eliminate malfunctions caused by feeding problems or ejection problems, which are the most common kind. They also do not experience problems caused by a bad grip or awkward shooting form, and they are basically retard-proof in terms of their manual of arms and required maintenance. All of these qualities are a function of how revolvers work, and no automatic, regardless of how well it is made, can claim the same.

>a lot of intricate components that are basically clockwork

If those parts are made well--and they are as long as you buy a S&W or Ruger--they are not fragile or prone to failure. Gunbroker constantly has Smith and Wesson Model 10s that were made 100 years that have all-original parts. Your typical Smith and Wesson Registered Magnum that was made 80 years ago is a semi-bespoke gun that doesn't even have replacement parts available, yet there are thousands of them that continue to work perfectly today. There is at least one example of a Ruger Security Six that continues to work after having close to 1 million rounds fired through it.
>>
>>33949642
If I ever go to Passchendaele, I'll be sure to bring a Hi-Point and AR-15. Thanks for the tip Karl.

It's a meme way of saying how accurate a firearm is

It means minute of angle which in context of people shooting rifles at distance it means x inches at 100 yards

>This gun can do 2 moa
>The shots are within 2 inches of each other at 100 ,yards

It's a meme statistic for combat rifles but a mostly good metric for hunting/sports arms
