they are tough as nails, but have 0 elegance. They are more reliable than many more expensive guns.

their ergos can be kinda junky. The trigger is best described as "functionally mediocre".

I've seen highpoints held in a vice with a carriage bolt plugging the barrel survive mostly intact.
I've seen modified highpoints handle fucking 10mm like it was made for it.

The only problem I've seen with highpoints is QC, mostly roughspots and burrs and other final stage production stuff.

If they made a "deluxe" highpoint which doesn't require amateur gunsmithing out of the box, it would be more reliable than a revolver in terms of taking beatings.

Your typical Smith and Wesson Registered Magnum that was made 80 years ago is a semi-bespoke gun that doesn't even have replacement parts available, yet there are thousands of them that continue to work perfectly today. There is at least one example of a Ruger Security Six that continues to work after having close to 1 million rounds fired through it.
