They're a reliable 7.62 AR pattern gun unlike most AR-10's though those are catching up. Only thing I would check would be the accuracy. I know that the SCAR 17S is exceptionally accurate, I don't know if the MR762 is as good.

The MR762 is a good rifle, personally I would just buy a SCAR 17, you get a little more bang for your buck and aftermarket support is finally good.

Actually I take that back, there are several aftermarket rails for the MR762, which is the only real problem with it, you can buy whatever aftermarket AR-15 grip and stock you want and basically be done with it.

The M110A1 contract isn't going to make the MR762 cheaper. It's probably not even going to result in us getting updated versions of the MR762 that other countries have had for ages as the MR308.

I'm personally only hopeful that Geissele adds the contract mlok handguard to their commercial SMR lineup. It's been fucking ages since they teased the large frame .308 AR rail and I'm pretty sure they've abandoned it.

If you can afford the MR762 you can afford to buy a SCAR as well. If you don't, you can't afford a MR762 and you're simply living beyond your means. Basically, if you have to put it on credit to buy it you should probably save that money instead, you're going to need it.

You're going to spend around $2,000-$3,000 on glass as well. Keep that in mind.

Nah. Nobody here actually takes their guns anywhere where you actually need to pay the premium for durability, +1% glass clarity, nor for the turret precision.

A cheap PA scope is more than enough. Then use the money you saved on that on ammo. Real fucking NATO isn't as cheap as babby nato.

No reason to not get a SCAR over this.

No. If you want an overpriced, overhyped .308 autoloader then buy a SCAR. If you want a good .308 on the AR platform for a decent price, build an AR-10. If you want a cheaper, but less fancy and more cumbersome rifle, then get a HK91/G3/PTR-91

Think they settled with the MRAD, but its been a lot of back and forth because our Special Forces tend to test out their own stuff, then the Telemark Battalion test out their stuff, and some times youll have other units testing out their stuff. So you have some prefer the 417, other prefer the MRAD, etc.
