Bill Ruger was also a dumb fudd that supported assault weapons bans to further his business interests.

Ruger now is a new company and stepped up their game in almost every regard since his death. After Marlin and Remington were acquired by Freedom Group, Ruger took the mantle of being the largest/cheapest/well-rounded American firearms manufacturer.

Bill Ruger went with the Thomas Edison school of marketing and smear campaign to further his business and brand. I'm happy he's out of the company but I don't honestly believe he was any thing but a businessman. Maybe I'm nuts and he was just a lucky fudd, and didn't want Ruger making scary innovative weapons, his biography says he was all about a cowboy aesthetic.

I don't get Ruger. They actually make good guns. I have a Ruger American bolt action rifle and I love it. They are great for the money. 10/22s are pretty much the gold standard and their pocket carry pistols seem to be well liked.

All they need to do is not sperg out all over the place and avoid hitting people's gag reflexes with their marketing and naming, and what do they do? this shit.

I don't get it. They'd be better off naming their guns with a bunch of random letters and numbers and not running any ads at all.
>>
>>33943253

9E has wider slide serrations, different sights, and only comes in one finish
>>
>>33943253
9e lacks the silly loaded chamber indicator, but the finish on the slide is kinda shit.
>>
>>33943253
9e is just the value version of the sr9. Same basic gun with less serations on slide (saves time on milling), comes with only 1 mag, non stainless slide and comes in a cardboard box.
>>
>>33941742

Well, he achieved his goal. Due to the lobbying he did Ruger has a nearly impenetrable monopoly on the California Handgun Roster, which won't be pulled down for another decade given how slow the 9th Circuit is. Meanwhile most guns in CA are Ruger brand revolvers, because they were legacy'd in.
>>
>>33943366
That just means that the abstract person that is Sturm, Ruger & Co. is a better political businessman than its opponents.

>>33941561
If you actually read up on it, you'll discover you are a fag. Bill Ruger tried to make a deal to preserve gun rights. He was trying to cut off anti-gun legislation by offering up magazine capacity.

He wasn't trying to sell anyone out, he was trying to help.

Politicians were coming after GUNS. He said "Guns are not the problem, don't ban any gun, limit magazine capacity."

He was still in the business of making semi-autos. He wasn't trying to get rid of any "assault rifle" or anything, on the contrary, he was trying to SAVE that gun and others.

Some even say politicians wanted a 5-round magazine capacity.

If you look at the state of gun ownership in places like NY, NJ, CA, and others, I bet you'd find a ton of people willing to accept 10 rounds but unlimited types of guns.
>>
>>33943366
Are you from CA? Because you clearly do not know anything about how the CA roster works and what's on it.
>>
>>33943182
SD9VE
>>
>>33943182

yes but there are lots of different versions, some with 2x 10rd mags, some with 12rd & 17rd, with & w/out manual safety etc

plus they are heavy the 9 compact is like 27z

but it is a chassis design like sig, the sr9 has all the metal bits embedded in the polymer
>>
>>33943366
I was under the impression that the approved handgun rosters grow smaller every year as handguns are allowed to expire from it and no new ones are added.
>>
>>33945717
That guy has no idea what the fuck he's talking about.

The roster is getting smaller every year because the standards for what is "new" are retarded. Usually even color changes, although Glock is somehow getting some OD frames in this year.

Plus any "new" gun created after 2013 needs to be able to 'microstamp' the gun's data on the casing, and that technology doesn't exist, so any gun 2013 or later can't be sold in CA.

Gun makers are fucking tired of it and just ignore California. If their guns were on the roster before 2013 they can keep paying to keep them on the roster, but a lot of companies don't care anymore and let their certs expire, so then no more can be brought into state. The Beretta PX4, for example, just fell off the roster.

In fact, despite what the faggot above said, Ruger is one of two companies that publicly announced they were done with CA in terms of Semi-autos. Said they wouldn't even try anymore.

They do indeed still sell Ruger revolvers in state, but all major revolvers pre-2013 are also sold here.

I took a picture of one of their ads in Recoil magazine and tweeted it at them asking why their advertising department is such shit.
They liked the tweet, then unliked it 30 seconds later when they realized what it said.

I'll never buy an EAA specifically because their ads are so horrible. Have some self respect, EAA.
>>
>>33947707
"Right, so there's like this zombie cyborg chick right? And she's got a robot eye. And she's coming out of a stargate or some shit. Follow me? She's riding this zombie cyborg horse who's mane is like a net for some reason, and she's in an old west ghost town. Also her legs are revolvers...."

And someone at EAA Corp approved this and paid to publish it in like every major gun magazine.
>>
>>33949977
their ads aren't terrible though

how many people have reposted them here in this very thread?
how many people are talking about EAA right now, in this very thread?

"bad" advertising is a strategy
if your ad sucks so bad that people are talking about it, then it isn't bad because it served its purpose of raising awareness of your product

the Pepsi ad that got so much bad press? I guarantee that Pepsi knew that it would get bad press and crafted the commercial specifically to get bad press
how many articles and TV news segments and youtube videos and social media posts were made about it? Pepsi ran the ad exactly once
to get the same amount of airtime and discussion with conventional "good" ads, Pepsi would have had to shell out millions and millions of dollars more than the pittance cost of production they paid
even now, the ad is still working
I just wrote a bunch of shit about Pepsi and shared it with the 58 other posters in this thread

point is, "bad" ads aren't necessarily ineffective
>but I wont buy them because their ads are bad
and would you have if their ads were "good"?
>>
>>33950063
You have a point, but my counter point is that their ads are so bad it turns their product into a joke.
All I'm saying is, I would never buy EAA simply because their ads are so terrible. A company should show some self respect for their product.
>>
>>33950104
you're "counter-point" is the same point as your original point

It was an old European promo banner that some execs' on-the-rocks son probably threw together for a deadline. It's funny but saying EAA has bad marketing in the US because of an ad for vendors on one gun is silly. The Pavonas have probably gotten the most attention of anything in their line-up because they're aggressively targeted to outlier demographics that are already hard sells.
