>I don't know how Louisiana's Napoleonic legal system works.
Cool, so now instead of destroying relatively cheap and replaceable guns he can soak up millions of dollars of taxpayer money.

No I don't know how a law system of a place thousands of miles away from where I live works.
s-sorry
I'm all about hard sentencing for pedos but I've never heard about life+40 when murder wasn't involved.

No. You don't. It's also misleading to call it Napoleonic. It's more properly referred to as Civil Law as compared to Common Law in the rest of the country. The biggest distinction is that precedent isn't something that judges are necessarily supposed to consider, but rather their own interpretation of the law.
The biggest differences in Louisiana are some of the smaller local governments operating as police-juries.

Louisiana used to give the death penalty for raping children.

Fun fact: Gambling is banned by the state constitution of Louisiana.
From Article XII, Section 6:
>Gambling shall be defined and suppressed by the legislature.
So you'd then ask yourself, "Well what the fuck are all those casinos then?" And ol' Edwin Edwards, and the Louisiana Supreme Court, would tell you that the key phrase there is "define." You're not gambling at casinos in Louisiana. You're gaming.
