Would the Tiger be able to destroy modern tanks like the Abrams?
>>33936894
suspended in air from less than 10 feet away aimed at the loaders hatch.....yes
>Point blank shots on the engine
>load all HE and carbomb abrams
>drop the tiger on the abrams from a cliff
the possibilities are endless
>if it shoots them in the right spot can it achieve a mission kill
Yes
>Is it going to get to shoot them in the right spot outside of autistically contrived internet scenarios or insane twists of fate
No
>But what about ambushes
You would be better served with a recoilless rifle or some asshat with man portable AT
You can mission kill a tank with a piece of shit drone and an aerodynamic soda bottle's worth of explosive, or even a good pair of nikes and a bottle full of gasoline if you're lucky enough
In a formal combat scenario the tiger's gonna struggle like fuck
>>33936894
Short answer: fucking no you autist.
>>33936894
I mean, it could, but it's not likely.
Essentially pitting a modern M4 wielding American sitting in a snipers nest 30 feet off the ground against a Brit with a blunderbuss full of gravel, 400 yards away, and in a valley that he cannot flank around and must advance straight forward.
His weapon is bad, mobility bad, and armor bad, and he's at a significant range disadvantage due to the Abrams's optics.
Basically "Does god like you today?"
>>33936921
What if we make modern armor piercing/antitank ammo for the Tiger like KEP or HEAT rounds ?
And we add pieces of modern modular armor to it ?
>>33937009
The dangers of modern armored combat are proof that there is no god, or if there is, he hates us all.
>>33937034
The tiger and tiger II were over-stressed before tossing on additional armor and equipment.
As for the gun; the KwK 43 of the tiger II was already capable of firing standard AP shells, APCR shot, and HEAT rounds. Theoretically you could replace the tungsten cores of the APCR with something like depleted uranium, and probably modernize the HEAT, but none of that would bring it up to even 1960s standards. the 8,8cm rifled gun just lacks the power to take on an Abrams, or really any modern tank.
Pic somewhat related; probably the closest tank to the Tiger II, in terms of era of initial production, that the Abrams will have ever faced.
Could a technical with a .50 MG and specialised modern AP ammo defeat a Tiger?
>>33936894
HAH HAH HAH, NO. Jesus fuck it's a WWII era tank. Modern MBTs are so far detached from world war era stuff that there's really nothing that existed back then that could match up. Now stop being a fucking wehraboo.
>>33937054
>.50 Raufoss HEI
>50mm penetration
If the technical has high ground they could probably squeak something out against a Tiger I.
>>33937034
>Porsche turret
a fuckin BMP pierced M1s sidearmor in the 1st gulf war, get a couple Tigers to flank an M1 and you've got a dead burgertank
tank warfare is all maneuver
No, but this probably would if it could sneak up on one from the back.
>>33937079
>Assault on Tawakalna
>Minor damage to sponson box and .50 machine-gun
This is pretty much the only instance I could find of a BMP successfully engaging an M1.
Also remember that export and 90's Abrams are a far cry from the modern upgrades.
Damn near every US M1 lost was to friendly fire or being destroyed after getting stuck or otherwise damaged.
>>33937149
buddy, nobody wants to see your backpedalling. If you don't know about it, that's great but it sure as hell means nothing because you're a nobody.
In the 1st gulf war, at some point some fucking tank company stopped during a sandstorm
once the sandstorm receded, it turned out there was a dug in BMP right next to them
an M1 got taken out
end of story
also, holy shit but did you really just try to add in a bit of damage control about "muh modern m1s" in a thread about a memefight between a tiger and an m1?
wow
>>33937173
I could almost feel the angry sweat dripping off your forehead as you wrote that. Did you type all that with one hand? Because I'm going to guess you have a handful of cheetos in your other hand (constantly), the dust flaking down onto your stained t-shirt, a cheeto crumb getting caught between the fatrolls that are pushing against the worn fabric. But that's ok, because it's bonus food for later when you engage in your next internet tank battle.
>>33936894
If you move it fast enough, sure.
>>33937183
so the faultless foodstamping patriot that's living in a fantasy world where an M1 is a good tank, is projecting cheetos upon others now?
that's a good one
anyways, I guess I didn't really say it in the first comment, but yeah a Tiger could sure as fuck take out an M1
>>33937173
Rude.
Still which one was this? Honestly that's a scary thought to think enemy armor was that close without anyone noticing. Hell, not only close but dug in.
Yes it could if the Tiger attacked the side of the Abrams especially the engine compartment since that is about 30-40mm of steel.
>>33936894
>WWII tank vs modern MBT thread
>Oh fucking boy
This kind of retarded shitposting is basically exactly what I expected.
How about some fucking info OP? Where's the battle taking place? How is visibility and atmospheric conditions? Is it one on one or in an actual battle? Are the crews aware of each other? What is their munitions load?
I've seen some OPs that guzzle cum in my time but by god you're looking to take the throne.
What if the Tiger shot PzGr .40 on the side and rear of the Abrams ?
>>33937173
You got a source or anything?
Did Tigers or Tiger 2s have gyro stabalizers?
>>33937450
No. It was an American invention of the late WW2 I think.
>>33937474
No, gyro stabilizers were first fitted on either M2 or M3 light tank
>>33937038
Live by the sword, die by the sword
>>33937079
thanks for the share anon
like this shit happens every day.
also this
"During the Battle of St. Vith in the Battle of the Bulge, an M8 of Troop B, 87th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron was able to destroy a German Tiger II heavy tank after getting in behind one on the Schonberg Road, though the commander tried to traverse his turret to engage the M8. The M8 fired three 37 mm rounds through the relatively thin rear armor of the Tiger from only 25 yd (23 m), setting it on fire. There was a muffled explosion, followed by flames which billowed out of the turret and engine port"
from M8 Greyhound on wikipedia

>Side
Turret no all ranges or angles of impact
Hull 50% yes if you hit the area where the engine is located since the crew compartment is extra protected with additional side armor and special sideskirt assuming you are beyond 1000 meters
Closer then that and you might penetrate the side hull including crew compartment area. This is also assuming you dont hit tracks or roadwheels before striking the hull.
If you strik the hull from an angle then you might fail completely
>rear
Turret yes yes yes
Hull yes yes yes
>>33937079
The BMP 1 fires 73mm HEAT rounds where the oldest anti armor round can penetrate 300mm of RHA. The Tiger dont have a round which can penetrate 300mm at point blank range. IIRC the best round the Tiger have can only reach kinda close to 200mm RHA at point blank range.
>trick the Abrams into driving down a dead end
>put the Tiger in a blocking position
>Tiger breaks down
>Abrams now combat ineffective
>would this late war poorly designed meme tank be able to destroy the primary MBT in the 21st century?
gee i don't know anon, as a wehraboo this thread is kind of embarassing. Would an stg44 be able to outclass an M4? Gee anon, i don't know. Is wool and leather superior to modern BDUs?
>>33937054
Sure if it's shooting from straight up with modern penetrator rounds.
>>33937079
But Tigers can't maneuver steve.
>>33937183
>not an argument
>ad hom
