Do we have any HEMA practitioners lurking /k/?
What weapon style do you practice? If its longsword, was it your first choice, or are you looking to branch out into other systems?
What gear do you use?

I don't know why, but I expected a lot less running. Still neat though
>>33936026
Is there stuff like this but for bayonets?
>>33936026
There's a HEMA general over at /asp/
But to answer your questions
>What weapon style do you practice?
Longsword, Langes Messer, saber, staff
Planning on branching out further to Halberd, Ringen (we're not doing it in our club and I want to change that) and maybe someday Rapier.
My biggest focus is/will be on Ott Ringen, Liechtenauer Longsword and Meyer Staff/Halberd
>If its longsword, was it your first choice, or are you looking to branch out into other systems?
I did start with Longsword but there are just too many interesting weapons!
>What gear do you use?
1600N PBT Mask
AP Jacket
SPES Locust pants
SPES Heavy Gloves

They even have plastic ones to train with, it looks a tad autistic but kinda fun

I really want to get into HEMA, because fighting with longswords is badass but there's no place for me to train in my current location.

Proper HEMA schools are few and far between but maybe you could find a group of nerds in your area having HEMA meetups or something.
alot more fun to look, comparing to olypic fencing game.
Olympic game is un relateable

HEMA seems a lot like airsoft, an activity that looks really fun but is ruined by the playerbase

Been studying Longsword for about a year an a half now. Lichtenauer, Meyer, and some Dobringer mainly. I also dabble with Dussack a little and would love to get into Halberd stuff.
My club is mostly serious guys who aspire to compete so I've been lucky as far as comrades. Also went to Krieg school for a time. We use a lot of different gear and are working on our own glove design, because paying 200$ and waiting six months isn't gonna cut it as we grow.
In regards to being called LARP, we occasionally get a crop of fat weeaboos covered in sweat just from driving over and wearing homemade kilts, none have ever been able to complete the hour class and none have ever returned for a second.
Furthermore, a few months ago a local LARP group set up in the same park we were holding practice and invited us to join their "battle". We sent two of our guys over and continued class, there were no survivors.
lichtenaur tradition for 11 years, Messer for about 8, small bits of ringkunst, and go to the sort of events which range from i.33 to bartitsu, suffrajitsu and hutton's sabre.
Dont actually spar a lot any longer, I'm more middle aged than Middle Ages, and I can definitely feel my knees protest at Meyer, and my back from most of it.
There's one hell of a new generation coming through though. This is a golden age for the spread of classical martial arts.

> in my current location.
where are you? you might be surprised.
And my local club's 180 miles each way. what's stopping you?

I REALLY want to get into HEMA but there are no places to learn it where I live
>>33943881
since this is an anonymous Turkmenistan carpet-weaving board, unless you say where you live, you're unlikely to ever get told about the local clubs that you've never heard of...
doesnt take much, just say "where I live (near Turkmenabat) or something, and you might be surprised to get a link...
Looking at starting the long sword soonish. I'm in the midst of PT for a surgery on my labrum

A lot of clubs arent listed here. Best to search google or facebook too. I travel an hour each week to get to my club. Even if it takes a long drive, its totally worth it

that looks fun as hell. What are the rules, once you're down you're out? Why do they keep pushing each other against the barriers?
