What would be better for a 14"-14.5" AR-15: Midlength or carbine gas system?
Midlength has smoother recoil and helps tone down over-gassing when using a suppressor, but there's no standard gas port size so there's possible reliability issues with .223, cold weather, or a dirty gun.
Carbine would be more reliable but there's slightly more recoil impulse and it's over-gassed with a suppressor. What would be better? I'm looking at either a 14.5" midlength barrel or 14" carbine barrel.

14.5 middy is love, life, and everything in between.

Protip; don't buy cheap, shitty barrels from cheap, shitty manufacturers.

You can midigate the risk of getting a non standard gas port diameter by just buying a quality mid. Pic related is a BA Hanson midlength 16" and it ejects at 130 to 2 with the can and 3 without. wouldrecommend/10
I like my 14.5 mid... it has an H3 and still runs well on the full gambit of brass ammo...

Would ballistic advantage 14.5 be reliable enough?

Id assume so. I also have a 12.5 carbine gas by BA (not a Hanson) and it's been fine. I can't visualize the ejection pattern with the can on it but I remember it wasn't nearly as bad as my DD 10.3 upper which is practically throwing casing at my targets with enough velocity to kill small game

Aero Precision uses Ballistic Advantage barrels, they just rebrand them.
I have the DMR 18" barrel by BA and I love it.
