INSAS rifle. It is probably the worst pile of poo ever to curse India. And that is saying a lot since their country is waist deep in poo.
>>

There was a bloke I saw at Pirbright who had A3 stamped where its usually stamped A2 behind the cheekpad on his rifle, no picatinny rails, standard issue handguard and iron sights. Probably just some internals had been swapped out for better parts..?
>>
>>33927404

Lots of Bodies and TMHs have A3 stamped on them already. They have 'C' shaped stamps on the outer side of the chamber (i think) instead of welds and some slightly updated internals.

Anything else will be cosmetic, such as a new handguard/sight rail/cocking handle etc. You'd be able to take A1 furniture and put it on an A3 without issue.

A3s will be painted brown, though, for that pretend polymer look.
>>
>>33927433
Ah ok that makes sense

There is no such thing, there are just new body modifications in the works as has been the case for the last 15 years.

internally they will be A2's with new updated parts on the outside.

I used the A2 in the Army Cadet Force, great wepaon, never had a stoppage in 6 years. Also used the LSW.
>>
>>33927555
Christ has it been that long already? We're getting old fast.
>>
>>33928481
A2 was never issued to cadets, nor was A1 or the original. The cadet rifle is visually similar and that's it.
>>
>>33927433
"A3" are all stamped A2, there is no A3 on the books and no A3 stamping. A3 is shorthand for the A2 with the bipod, modern accessories and so on.

When you sign one out the armoury you will write A2 in the box prior to the various serials.
>>
>>33926672
You don't know anything about it because it doesn't exist.
>>
>>33930196
It's exactly the same, expect the select fire is removed, the LSW is the same as the regulars use. Obviously someone was never a cadet
>>
>>33930300
There are no gas parts in it and it was built off the original rifle, not the A2. Cadet usage of a straight pull target rifle does not equate to familiarity with the A2 weapon. Not even the NSPs are the same.

For the record, the A2 is a reliable weapon compared with its NATO equivalents. Quite how you came to that conclusion from firing an entirely different weapon, as a cadet, I have no idea.

Heard the Ghurkas up in Nepal bought a batch and were pissed when a few got jammed during an operation. She was polished heavily with three modification programs over time (For every issue fixed, 2-3 more came out of her). Dunno much on how it performs nowadays.
>>
>>33930348
The L98A2 is not straight pull it is semi auto.
>>
>>33930348
Ah, someone must have just came off the latest Forgotten weapons video, the new Cadet GP is not straight pull, it's semi automatic. Again you were obviously never a cadet.
>>
>>33930484
>>33930421
I don't keep up to date on Cadet rifles, and no I was never a victim of sexual abuse when I was younger.

It is not the A2, regardless of what you claim, and claiming it to be reliable when it was never designed or intended for field usage is inane.
>>
>>33928481
> cadetposting

Anon plz
>>
>>33930348
Cadet usage of a straight pull target rifle does not equate to familiarity with the A2 weapon.

Cadets stopped using straight pull rifles in 2009-10 and switched semi auto.
>>

>>
>>33930213
There are rifles stamped A3 around.
AFAIK they're converted LSWs (have hole in the body where the outrigger used to be bolted in)

As the other anon says, the difference seems to be that they've been strengthened where the breech-block is welded to the body
>>

ergos suck, even for a bullpup

>fire selector is in the back.
>magazine release is a button on the side above the magazine.

give it a progressive trigger and a crossbar safety like the AUG. then move the magazine release to a lever in front of the magazine.
>>
>>33931194
The fire selector is not a problem considering how rarely it is used, 9/10 cases it is when you switch it on your mates rifle at the range knowing he will never check it before pulling the trigger.
>>
>>33931066
>what was wrong with the DD rail
Weight. But the keymod shit is just a proposal from HK. The MoD hasn't committed to upgrading any rifles in this manner

Similar hand-guard proposal to what HK are doing on their new rifle for the Bundeswehr.
>>
>>33931135
> implying a Blade would ever tell you theyre a Blade

Outside of a pub that is
>>
>>33931228

us army training doctrine was to always have your rifle on safe until you need to shoot. which is doable because your fire selector is right fucking there next to your firing hand's thumb.
>>
>>33931335
Where is the safety on the L85? It's obvious you have never handled one if you think its on the fire selector.
>>
>>33931335
Hate to break it to you m8 but you sound retarded. The safety on an L85 is pretty much the opposite end of the gun from the change lever. Hence why the other bloke said its easy for some to not notice its been changed, because you dont need to flip through it from Safe as you do on an AR platform.
>>
>>33931759
yeah. i went back and looked it is a crossbar safety, but that damn thing isn't marked and looks just like a take down pin.

the selector is still in a bad place.

the bolt hold open is a little dumb too.

>>
>>33930720
You're all a bunch of spotty, cringey military fetishists.
>>
>>33931798
It is marked; it says S on one side and F on the other. Granted its not clear from any sort of distance. The bolt hold-open is fine, as with all things military there is a reason behind it and a technique for it. I agree that the change lever is in a bit of an awkward spot but 99% of the time youre in repetition, not automatic.
>>
>>33930213

There aren't many but there are definately some weapons in the Armoury with A3 stamps, and none of them have the new handguards, though they do have different sight rails.

As >>33930801 said they may well be LSWs that have been converted into IWs, I'll have to check next time I get a chance.

Also I would like to point out: yes the L98A2 Cadet GP rifle is very similar to the L85A2 in almost every way, with near identical usage drills, but cadet use of a weapon system does not qualify you as an authority on it. The conditions cadets use weapons in barely even test the weapon's capabilities - both in numbers of rounds fired (the more you fire, the more likely you are to get a stoppage) and general conditions of use (mud, dust, sand, amount of time etc). I've put more rounds through my weapon on a week in Brecon than most cadets will put through a weapon in six years.

In short - shut the fuck up, go revise for your fucking exams.
>>
>>33931135
>>33931022

>t. The exact gobshite cadets that make everyone in the Forces fucking loathe Cadets.
>>
>>33931271
Which the US just proved is utter shit, even in comparison to MLOK.

I'd rather take the heavier weight DD rail than something that crumples like tissue paper and can't hold a zero
>>
>>33931860
how do you even do Inspection Arms with the bolt hold open and the charging lever arranged like that?

>grab with your right hand the top of the rifle just above the bolt hold lever.
>with your left arm go under the rifle and grab the bolt charging handle.
>push the bolt back with your left hand and then push the bolt hold lever with your right fingers(or manipulate it from the other side with your right thumb)
>>
>>33933519
Turn it, lock the bolt back with the left hand and thats it? I do not get what you are asking.
>>
>>33933519

The official drill for a 'Port Arms' is as follows:

1. Tilt the weapon slightly to the right to avoid any potential casings ejecting into your face.
2. Reach the left arm over the weapon and grasp the cocking handle between the index finger and thumb.
3. Pull the working parts to the rear.
4. Using the thumb of the left hand, press down on the Holding Open Device and slightly release the Working Parts so that the catch engages.
5. Place the weapon on the shoulder ready for inspection by DS or others.

Right hand doesn't come off the pistol grip, anon. Feels weird at first but you get used to it pretty quick.
