In the US, are there any restrictions on carrying ammunition in public? Let's say I go to a gun store, buy some ammo, then either carry it in a plastic bag or put it in my backpack. I then take public transportation or walk home or whatever, so I'm on public sidewalks/public transit with ammo. Is this legal?

That's some thing you should check your local laws.

No. I know this will frighten the Euros.

No there's not restrictions or no it's not legal?

This.
I don't think there are any national restrictions, but it would be worthwhile to contact your local police department and ask about State or Country restrictions. Your firearms dealer should also be aware, so ask them too. Notice I did not say "or ask them," I said "ask them too." Ask both parties. If there are any differences in their responses, look into it in-depth.

If it's not in a mag, clip, or gun then it doesn't matter, it's just objects. It is flammable/explosives so any place with restrictions on those things would also apply to ammo. Also some states probably have some kind of age limit on ammo possession and sale.

put in backpack, small travel padlock on the zippers so it can't be opened, unless you act like a complete fucking degenerate police will not have any right to look inside your bag so there's no problem.
>/k/ please tell me about my local laws when I don't even say where I live

Carrying ammo in a backpack around town or on public transportation should be fine, as long as it's enclosed inside your backpack. 45/50 states it probably isn't a problem at all, but the other 5, CERTAINLY CALIFORNIA, you're definitely rolling the dice if caught.
Carrying ammo in a plastic bad where anyone can see the ammo is just bad news, friendo. Outside any laws there may be, you're asking to get followed by dindus or sneered at by soccer moms.
Bottom line: if you're gonna carry ammo in public, make sure no one can see it.
>walking around in public with a belt of 7.62 over your shoulder.
>Rambo First Blood is now a fashion statement.
In all seriousness, I think it would depend a lot on where you live, but pretty much anywhere you're going to get some confused looks.

Bullet belt belts (belts of belts) aren't anything new.

That's been a thing among metalheads for a long time.

We (Germoney) don't have restrictions on carrying ammo, as long as you have the license to buy it.
