Looking for a midsize 9mm, preferably in da/sa. Can spend up to $1500. Must have:
>great trigger
>aesthetics
>reliability and durability

I was thinking a Sig P228

Part of me is also considering an m11a1 for the similar look but increased durability of milled stainless.
Then again the p228 satisfies my inner wehraboo and apparently has "better balance" - which sounds like a sig forum meme.

Of course if i got the p228 I would probably get a p6 as well - that way I can distribute my range abuse to two guns and keep them running longer.
>>
>>33923596
idk about the 228 trigger but my 226 had a mile long reset.
cheap, easy fix with a SRT kit though. now its a superb trigger

I would try to conceal it in a milt sparks summer special II - I chose this over the vm2 because I feel it'd be easier to take on and off going out of my car to work.

I like the p-01, but found the cz trigger to be inferior to the sig's, especially when equipped with SRT.
Of course the cuz would have an advantage in bore axis - which i think is mostly a meme.
>>
>>33923629
Yep I agree and any Sig I get is immediately getting the SRT. One of the best out of the box resets save for 1911s IMO

I'm also considering a kahr K9 as a smaller back up to my midsize 9 for when concealment is most important. It's thinner and shorter and I from what I hear very reliable after a 200 round brea kin.

Get the P229 so you can mount a weaponlight.

I don't really plan on mounting one - I don't use pistols for HD - and I think it looks better without one.

Nice Legion, do you carry it?

Not my gun; I carry a similarly-configured Glock-brand Glock.
Most violent crimes happen in poor lighting conditions, not just home invasions, so I'm a proponent of having a light on your gun in addition to your handheld light so that you have illumination options that don't involve sacrificing weapon control.

Look no further.

https://pistol-forum.com/showthread.php?16519-The-PX4-Compact-might-be-my-DA-SA-Glock-19

I carry a PX4 Compact Carry and it's just excellence. I have the "Mod 1" with the #12 hammer spring and the DA pull is a buttery smooth 8lbs that breaks the same place as the SA trigger.

I carry it AIWB
>>
>>33923913
This is my favorite alternative so far

>kruppstahl
>incredibly aesthetic
>with match components (sorry no overtravel adjustable trigger) da/sa is sweet
>most easily accessible decocker

Plus based potato likes it so it must be doing something right

P2000 would be closer but USP9c is still fair game too.

It was a grey market run of USPs built for some EU dpt, they had overrun and classic arms had them firesaled at $550.00 for LEMs NIB, I love LEMs

Great nightstand build.
>>
>>33923682
Consider a P239 instead; it's the same size but would have the same manual of arms as your big gun.
>>
I own a P229 and and a P30L and can say that a P30 is easily better than the P229 as a compact gun.

Seriously considering picking one of these up.
I'm a skelly (6' 160 lbs), is it a bear to conceal?

Also, I'm god awful with DA/SA, would you recommend this to someone relatively new to the manual of arms?

>I'm a skelly (6' 160 lbs), is it a bear to conceal?

I'm 5'7 and 130lbs and I conceal it quite well in hot weather.

>Also, I'm god awful with DA/SA, would you recommend this to someone relatively new to the manual of arms?

Absolutely. Do not be intimidated by DA/SA. The gun itself has the DA pull breaking at where the SA pull breaks as previously stated. The transition from DA to SA is really the "hard part" of shooting DA/SA and it definately helps.

Gun also shoots ridiculously flat to boot. Have some links on learning how to shoot DA/SA

Get an SP2022.

It's basically a P226 but with a polymer frame, an excellent DA/SA 9mm pistol.
>>
>>33923596
I have a sig p320c and its damn golden, very little take up, nice solid wall, crisp break and short tactile reset. and it doesn't look like a brick with lettering to boot
>>
>>33935303
>>33935350
His budget is $1500 though. Why wouldn't he get a P229 legion or something?
>>
>>33923601
This. You can not go wrong with this pistol. I also have a P228 but I have to admit I prefer the CZ for EDC.
>>
>>33935375
because the legion series is a fucking marketing gimick...a soft case and a "unique" challenge coin..so special...you'll impress all the mall ninjas and bad guys when you pull that bad boy out...why not buy a gun that is decently priced, back by a good warrenty and reputable company, and pocket the remaining cash to use for other things?
>>
>>33935375
He can buy a TLR-1 HL and some night sights along with ammo???
>>
Sphinx SDP Compact
>>
>>33923596
>CZ-75 Family
(CZ Custom Shop and Sphinx pistols offer higher-cost, high quality alternative). They are extremely ergonomic, beautiful, reliable, and rugged. Their triggers can be hit or miss, though, without custom work.
>Sig P229 (Reinforced 228; upgradable to 357.Sig/.40S&W).
Great in all categories, but somewhat top-heavy and snappy compared to others. Highly reliable, but known for being a wet gun.
>Beretta 92FS Compact
Needs trigger work from the factory BADLY, (trigger is like 14lbs with stacking in DA from the factory. A cheap hammer spring replacement does wonders, though.) Wilson Combat 92G Brig Tac is excellent, but may be a bit big for what you want. Either way, 92s feed virtually anything due to their locking block. Tilt-barrels occasionally hickup on JHPs.
>H&K P30 Family
Kinda spongy trigger in DA/SA, but high quality polymer pistols.
>Walther PPQ
Not DA/SA, but great trigger and other features.
>Grand Power Pistols
Excellent all around pistols; also, not very common in the US if you want to stand out. A bit more finicky than other designs, but well loved in competition circuits, great factory triggers, etc. Can be wet guns.
>Walther P99/P99C; Canik TP9
Oddball DA/SA pistols. Great guns, but not for everyone as they feel like striker-fired pistols with DA/SA settings. The Walther is the original; Canik is Turkish copy, but good enough and cheaper.
>>
>>33935608
What do you mean when saying Grand Powers can be wet guns?
>>
>>33935450
Yes, plus legions already come with night sights and will feel infinitely better in all aspects than what you posted.
>>
>>33935661
Stop following for the legion kike meme you dip
>>
>>33935625
Some users and GP customer service personnel have reported reliability issues with GP pistols when run dry, (i.e., no oil). So, much like Sig metal framed pistols, they like quite a bit of oil on moving parts. Not every GP seems to be that way, though.
>>
>>33935692
He doesn't have to get a legion, a plain Jane P229 is still closer to what he wants than the SP2022 that you posted. I don't even own a SIG, I have a P30 and recommend them to anyone who asks, I'm just trying to recommend OP something that he would probably enjoy more. When you budget for something like OP did it's so that you don't have to get the cheapest option possible from your manufacturer of choosing and you can afford something a little nicer.
>>
Sigs feel the worst in hand for me. like the bottom of my grip isnt quite right.

I'm an HK fanboi so my suggestion is USP at that astronomically high budget.

but if this is your first gun I'd say cz75 then spend the rest of the money practicing on the range.
if its not your first gun get whatever you like.

I favor the 92 compact. You mentioned not mounting a light, so here is a pic of the version without a rail. Drop in a D spring and the decocker-only conversion and you are gold. Total upgrade cost is about $60-70 and both parts can be gotten direct from Beretta.

You have gotten a lot of good input here. I like the Px4 a lot, the 2022 is a criminally underrated pistol, the USPc/p2000 is very pleasant to shoot, and the assorted CZ 75 variants certainly have their charm.
>>
