Good alternatives to the AR platform. All suggestions welcome. Genuinly curious

Most AR-18 based platforms.

Hk93
>>33922834
I have a C93 and it's worse in pretty much every way (compared to my A1). Controls are less ergonomic, cocking handle is a pain in the ass to use due to the stiff spring, doesn't lock open on an empty mag, magazines rock in rather rather than being inserted linearly and don't drop free.
>>33922871
It's also heavier, larger overall, and uses space less efficiently. The gun is almost the same length as the 20" AR-15 despite only having a 16.25" barrel. The magazine release is a pain to access due to how far it is from the grip. On a real HK it would have a paddle release which would mitigate this problem, but I see no reason someone should spend $2500 on an HK unless they're a collector/fanboy
Depends what you're looking for in an AR to start with.
AK action rifles perform vastly better in extreme cold, but tend to be heavier and most of them have shit options for optics. Examples are Golani(hit or miss), M76 and Sig 5XX
AR18 action rifles tend to be a direct though frankly marginal upgrade, but they will never have the aftermarket of the AR. Examples are MK16, SL8 and AR180, though none of them are cheap
Bullpups give you a much rifle length barrel in an SBR sized package, but they're hit or miss and have shit aftermarket. The go-to is the AUG, with opinions divided on whether the FS2000 or Tavor are any good.
Personally never touched a Tavor or FS2000, so cant comment either way.
what bout dis
AUG
Opinions on the Galil ACE series?
>>33923045
Not shit ak
Would it be more effective than the FN M4A1 in a similar setting such as Afghanistan? Just wondering.
>>33923045
Fuck ugly abortion but clearly functional, very well received by a bunch of 3rd world militarys. I once saw one mounted on an actual Galil receiver and it looked really nice, so I maintain they would sell like hotcakes if offered from factory in that config stateside. It would certainly put to bed the reservations some have about the plastic lower.

MK16's and 17's require a fucking hex key to field strip. Otherwise I like them
Mini-14
AK
SKS
Daewoo (if you consider that to not be an AR)
>>33923317
FN FNC?
>>33923348
I do get kinda hard when I see a nice 1980's Daewoo.
>>33922815
FAmas
Comptitoin? not even close! GOOD BALISTIC 2 THEE 100 YARR
The CZ Bren 805 is also a nice rifle but it's price is in the same range as a pretty expensive AR15
>>33923367
DAS RITE
>>33922915
The sig 55x series does not have an AK action, for the last damn time
>>33923408
552 does
>>33923328
Bitch are you stupid? To change out the barrel, sure, but for basic maintenance it requires punching a pin, removing the lower, removing the buttstock, and then pulling out the guts. It's remarkably similar. A retard could do it. What does that make you if a retard could do it?
I'm way up on this high horse ever since I got my SCAR17S.
>>33923328
Yeah, this is wrong
maybe the new polish gun will be better than the magpul memesada or bushmaster gaycr, whatever that shit was
it looks like it has better ergos than the ar15
>>33923554
Never owned a SCAR. I would love the privilege. How much is MSRP? Also I need to throat punch whoever told me that autistic fact.
>>33922957
>>33922957
I have been itching for a scar 17.
>>33922815
That disgusting stock tho
>>33922815
I can't think of any honestly. The only reason you shouldn't get an AR is if you live in some faggot area that doesn't allow them. They fit any budget, fit any need, can be had in various calibers, have an aftermarket only matched in size by Honda Civics. It's really just the end all be all for a functional rifle platform in the states. That being said, I'd love to have an AUG and Scar-16, but they don't really compare to the AR. They are just plain cool.
How about a bullpup, OP?
Tavor
AUG
F2000
M17S
RFB
L85
FAMAS
and someday, DT MDR
>>33923408
It does.
>>33922815
>>33922815
SCAR is the only platform I would consider personally
>>33922815
ak 47
I actually think the FG-42 platform would work great if it was actually made in sufficient numbers today
>>33927664
I love Bullpups. However not even the Germans could fix the SA80. Keltech RFB and RDB wonderful rifle systems in my opinion.
>>33927659
I agree. As a go to war rifle, a DGI AR15 would suffice very well.
>>33922957
if you got close to $2000 then yeah they're fine
>>33924528
They didn't have anything about it at SHOT show this year, there are still no visible plans for a US-based plant, and they've made it clear that their first priority is securing a contract with the Polish military, which also hasn't happened yet. Don't hold your breath.
>>33922957
Fuck, I would. I think this is by far the AR-18's sexiest grandchild.
>>33923408
oh look, another tripfag saying dumb shit
>>33922815
Famas
fuck nigger up blasting bitch
>>33922871
Change the parts with surplus, it'll help solve most of the problems there
>>33923045
Compatible with OG Galil parts, you might as well make a clone using that receiver
Rhodesian FAL?
>>33922834
>stamped garbage
>>33928859
>However not even the Germans could fix the SA80
It works now.
It's a bullpup, so all the problems bullpups have are present here, but at this point it's not the piece of shit it was.
Of course, good luck getting your hands on one.
>>33931270
Stamped isn't a problem.
The problem with it is that it's heavy as fuck and you can't help it.
Being roller delayed blowback it simply needs strong, steel upper receiver, so it will be heavy and you can do shit about it.
